Drinking and driving is idiotic. Drinking and driving to go pick up a pizza is worse. Most pizzas are delivered but for some damn reason Shia LaBeouf decided that unlike 90% of the rest of the world he would drive to pick up his pizza. So because he couldn't stand the idea of sitting at home quietly waiting for someone to deliver his pizza, he got in his big ass truck, rolled it and was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. Lucky for him the only person who was seriously hurt was Shia. The person he hit in the middle of the intersection and the girl in his truck were injured, but apparently not seriously.
Despite the fact that two people were injured, what did Shia's people have to say about the incident?
'Attorneys for Mr. LaBeouf confirm that an automobile accident involving an additional party occurred early morning in Los Angeles on July 27, 2008.
'Shia is currently recovering from extensive hand surgery with plans to return to work on the set of Transformers 2 within one month. No further comment will be issued at this time. '
Well its good to know that the business of making movies can continue. Umm what about the other two people who were injured? Well since they aren't making any films right now then Shia's people don't give a crap about them. Oh sure they will probably arrange for the injured people to get a free t-shirt or a great Transformers hat. Not Transformers 2. No, they will just find some of the old stuff and send it along.
They make it seem in their statement like Shia is the victim and that the world should be praying for his recovery and not that he could have killed someone out there. I really still can't believe they plugged the film he was working on, yet totally ignored the two people hurt. That is mind numbing. Well maybe that Megan Fox Transformers coffee cup will make up for it.

Why are you surprised that his ATTORNEYS didn't mention the victims in a situation where LeBoef is facing criminal charges? They're ethically obligated to not say ANYTHING concerning potential liability or guilt to the press. In fact, if memory serves, this is basically the totality of what they CAN ethically say (although they could also properly state the fact and time of the arrest, since it's a matter of public record).
ReplyDeleteThe Transformers plug was a bit much, though. I'm with you there.
Also, if that statement came from his PR people.... ignore what I said. I read the item to be a report of what the attorneys said.
ReplyDeletewell Shia La DOUCHE lives another day.
ReplyDeleteok kid, time to get the fuckin chip off your shoulder and man up already. hire a driver, or get the shit delivered. i imagine it wans't just pizza he was out pickin up....
How pathetic - another child actor going down a well worn path.
ReplyDeleteI agree Ent, they did try and make him the victim - maybe he has the same people as Lilo.
I always thought that Shia was going to be the one of the current crop of youngsters who would turn out to be a solid guy. Guess I was wrong. :(
ReplyDeleteAs huge as my inapproprate crush is on this boy, drinking and driving is fucking stupid and he's lucky nobody got killed.
ReplyDeleteAnd Jax, I was thinking the same thing...what else was he picking up if he just HAD to go himself? It pisses me off when people who can afford to hire a driver or even take a goddamn taxi, just won't.
Shia, you're terribly cute. But clearly not terribly bright.
Still not as douchy as Nick Hogan, though.
ReplyDeleteI had high hopes for him. I thought he could rise above all that crap. :(
ReplyDeleteI too, have an age inappropriate Shia Crush. He could have been my Shia Pet long time....nudge, nudge, wink, wink....but I'm starting to wonder if he's just young and has the "I'm invincible" thing of youth, or if he's just a selfish douche. Time to put the big boy pants on and stop this crap.
ReplyDeleteHere is a press release I would LOVE to see.
ReplyDelete"(film studio/producer/director) wish a speedy recovery to the 3 people injured in the regrettable accident that occured over the weekend. Hopefully Shia will be on the mend and back on the film set very soon. However, if it is discovered that any illegal happenings were the cause of the accident, we will dismiss Mr. Labeouf from the movie immediately. (film studio/producer/director) are well too aware of the needless loss of life do to carelessness and poor decisions made when getting behind the wheel when one should not be driving. Again, it is our hope that the authorities clear this up to be just that, an accident. Best of luck and speedy recovery to all"
I'm not holding my breath, though.
Ah, Sweater, you sure know how to dream big.
ReplyDeleteTrue enough Moosh :) "As long as you're dreaming, dream big' eh?
ReplyDeleteEthically it makes sense and if you think about it, there must be tons of aspiring actors who are better looking and have more talent who would kill for a spot in that movie.
However, the potential threat of tweens not seeing it because the shih-tzu looking dude isn't in it probably helps them look over the fact that he'll probably kill someone (or himself) sooner rather than later. Hell they may even be hoping for the Ledger angle.
...and I really am dreaming big if I include the word 'ethic' in any conversation that has to do with Hollywood. Silly silly me.
Isn't Shia's dad an alcoholic?
ReplyDeleteYikes and as far as the 'Ledger' angle I didn't mean it as an insult to Heath. I'm sorry he's gone, he really was an incredible joker. So much so that I don't think his early death has much to do with the praise his role is getting. He really did steal that movie.
ReplyDeleteThis is probably the one and only time Shia would ever be compared to him. But hey Shia..you can dream big.
BTW - Is that officer in the first picture giving the other officer a prostate exam? Hope she's wearing gloves! lol
ReplyDelete"...better looking and have more talent..."
ReplyDeleteSadly, Hollywood will pick a "name" over looks/talent every time.
Ugh, Pimp, it just occurred to me that Nick Hogan's spokeswhore would've found a way to blame the other driver. :(
ReplyDeleteI think his father had a heroin problem, & he swore he would stay away.
ReplyDeleteAt least with heroin you'll probably just destroy your own life instead of someone else's.
ReplyDeleteFrom an askmen article
ReplyDeleteShia said: "Before I landed the role in 'Even Stevens' I barely knew my dad, but because I was a minor I needed to have an adult on set. Dad had just been released from veterans' hospital, where he'd gone through drugs withdrawal. So I paid him £400-a-week to be with me. For him it wasn't about being with a son that he loved. He was rent-a-dad. He was getting some money and he was staying off drugs. For three years we lived in a motel and that's when we started to get our relationship back on track. In a very real sense this business gave me my father back and I'll always be grateful for that."

a defamer bit (more recent)
He was talking about how his dad is living in his garage...then there's this
With a knowledge on drugs so vast that Shia actually consulted him before his role as an acid-dropper in Bobby, Shia's described his hippie dad as someone who: "did a lot of things. He was a clown. He sold snow cones. He did stand-up comedy. He even went on tour with the Doobie Brothers as their opening act. He was a Vietnam vet, an artist, an explorer of life - just an adventurer.” But all that warm and fuzzy detail doesn't make up for the fact that Jeff allegedly once pointed a gun at a very young Shia while having a heroin-induced 'Nam flashback.
damn

WOW, that's some heavy shit.
ReplyDelete^no excuse, as everyone makes their own choices. Just wow though, isn't it odd that the ones who actually 'make it' are the ones with the most messed up childhoods?
ReplyDeleteI wasn't aiming that at you JW12, I think we posted at the same time:) Just figured I had run out of room with that long assed post (sorry for all the words, ya'll...just found it interesting.)
ReplyDeleteI'm uh...not sure I would let someone live with me who once pulled a gun on me.
Sweater, No worries...
ReplyDeleteHOLY SWEET ZOMBIE JESUS those pictures! And his PR people are assholes. That movie plug made me gag. He's fucking LUCKY that all he got was a busted up hand.
ReplyDeleteSo much so that I don't think his early death has much to do with the praise his role is getting.
I'm glad that someone else feels the same way about that as me, Sweater. But I know what you mean. If I was an actor I'd worry about the studios trying to "see the positive side" about my untimely demise. Ugh. It goes all the way back to James Dean.
I'm not really big on Shia (I personally can't see past his Even Stevens days), but I did like him as a person due to some awesome things he said in articles. The fact that he made up with his drug addled bum of a father and then did this incredibly, unbelievably stupid thing has my brain jumping to the conclusion of "Cue the period of self destruction... now! Ding!"
I read elsewhere today that his passenger was Isabel Lucas, girlfriend of Adrian Grenier, who's not happy that he's getting questions about what she was doing with Shia. Anyway, the article also said that Isabel was back at work today (Transformers sequel - also starring Adrian).
