Edward Norton Pulls A Mischa Barton
I never thought I would actually be discussing something that Mischa Barton and Edward Norton have in common, but the day has come. Since I know that none of you really follow Mischa's career or what is left of it, I will remind you that she is in a film that premiered at Cannes. She showed up on the red carpet for other films in Cannes but had nothing to do with her film there or anywhere else she was supposed to be. Since then, she has not received any new offers for any new films because what producer or studio will ever want someone who won't do publicity for the film? Granted in Mischa's case, the audience will be more likely to see it if they don't know she is in it, so it could be a wash.
Edward Norton on the other hand knows better and so when he blows off every interview for Hulk you know it is because he hates the movie and is telling audiences to stay the hell away by his absence.
His rep says Ed never does any interviews which is a complete bunch of crap but he knows that no one is going to take the time to find each interview that Ed Norton has ever done for a film. Last I checked it was Ed doing the acting in the film. Whether he got along with the director or not, you signed on to do the film, you starred in the film and got paid more for doing that film than 99% of Americans will make in their LIFETIME. Suck it up and do an interview you a-hole. What? You think because you are an actor you don't have to work if you don't like it? Let me tell you something about the real world and "everyday people" (thanks Kathy Hilton). None of us like our jobs everyday. Most of us probably hate our jobs more often than we like them. But you know what? We understand we are getting paid for being there and so we go. Oh, we might hate it and call in sick frequently, but in the end we show up or we find another job. No one forced you to be an actor. Stop being a cry baby and start being a man, or whatever kind of man you can be after being Salma's bitch for all those years.
he did tons of interviews when promoting The Illusionist and The Painted Veil.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he's got a cold sore.
ReplyDeletehahaha.
He's always been a strange one, hasn't he?
ReplyDeleteYou're probably right about him blowing off the interviews because the movie sucks. How many Hulk movies do we need?
Brava Enty!! I read this earlier today and thought pretty much the same thing. And I also thought he did press for other movies.
ReplyDeleteDidn't he write this one too?? Or am i high and imagining that?? Jackass - I'll go promote the movie for the money and then he can sit on his elitist ass and whine all day!
Salma? What about Courtney Love, what was up with that?!
ReplyDeleteThis movie looks like it's gonna suck . No amount of press he does, short of taking me to the movie himself, will make me go see it anyway.
hahahaha
and I DO hate my job, so get over yourself EDWARD!
irishstayc - lol, ARE you high?
ReplyDeletei might be!
Elitist. I guess he wasn't too pure to accept the paycheck.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I watched David Cook after he won American Idol. It's obvious the guy is a serious musician with talent. But he went ahead and gave that awful "magic rainbow" winning song his best shot, does every promotion asked of him and refuses to badmouth the show, even tho parts of it I'm sure are a little silly to him.
You sign on for something commercial, then be man enough to support it all the way.
Edward Norton, don't be a douchebag. Take a lesson from other "serious" actors who have done big films and did promotion as part of the package. Robert Downey Jr. a good example.
irish didn't imagine it...
ReplyDeletethis is from page six:
March 14, 2008 -- THEY might want to create a new Oscar for Edward Norton: Hollywood's Biggest Pain in the Butt. Word is Norton is warring with Marvel Studios over the final cut of "The Incredible Hulk," which he wrote and stars in but is threatening not to promote. The temperamental star's rep denied any serious friction, insisting: "Edward was brought on board by Marvel as a producer, screenwriter and actor, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that he has a lot of creative input into the postproduction process. His deal was for all three, and he takes those roles seriously." She would not elaborate on Norton's issues. The Oscar-nominated actor has a reputation for being difficult. Tony Kaye, who directed him in "American History X," charged that Norton reedited the flick to give himself more screen time. And screenwriter/director Joe Eszterhas cmhere2once cracked: "You don't want Edward Norton to star in your movie. He now rewrites all the scripts he agrees to act in." Universal Pictures, distributor of "Hulk," which debuts nationwide on June 13, had no comment.
omg edward norton!!! BE REAL!!!!!!
ReplyDelete~sniff~ Please, Ed...say it isn't so.
ReplyDeleteHe's a freakin' actor, for crying out loud. He should be able to pretend he likes the movie for the obscene amount of money he got to do it. Oh, and if he knew it was shite to begin with, why didn't he quit? Oh yeah, that obscene amount of money I was just talking about.
ReplyDeleteFuck off, Ed. You'rfe just like your little pissant character in Fight Club.
ReplyDeleteI admire his acting ability, but do you really want to see an interview with him? He's like Joaquin...like watching paint dry...not that interesting.
ReplyDeletePlease one of the best things Michelle Pfeiffer ever said was that she isn't paid for acting, it is all the publicity garbage that she gets the big money for.
ReplyDeleteAnd Ed, you wrote the sucker. Editing can do a lot, but if you think the world is going to forget that this dog is yours because you don't show up and promote it, you are insane. Hell you might better make your point by showing up, saying what you do like about the movie, but that the editing made blah blah unclear.
Gossipmonger.. LOL no I'm not - unfortunately and THANK YOU jw12 for finding that quote about him writing it so I could prove that I wasn't high... (yet) I mean never - it's oregano - i swear - Am i in the UK??
ReplyDeleteAny movie that Norton comes out I will not watch or try not to watch hehehe.
ReplyDeleteHe seems to have something stuck up his ass LOL.
This was in Entertainment Weekly a few weeks ago. He and the director (who he got along with) wanted to cut the movie one way. The studio wanted to make it shorter and more commercial. The only thing he hates is the final cut.
ReplyDeleteThe reviews are very mixed, but the fanboy buzz is very good. Can't wait to see the box office numbers for this weekend.
ReplyDeleteOkay then; done with Norton. Next?
ReplyDeleteIn all fairness, there's more here than meets the eye with respect to him doing limited press for this movie (he has been making some public appearances in support of the film -- he's not been a no show on the red carpet and he had Kimmel, MTV awards, etc). It is my understanding that certain commitments were made to Norton with respect to the level of input that he was to have had with the final product. He signed with these parameters in place but by 2/3 of the way into production the commitments began to be reneged upon. As a result, it appears that he has decided to do as little press as possible. He has also given up the screenwriting credit to which he is partially entitled as he is unpleased with the final cut.
