Today's Blind Items

Some of my favorite blind items have come from the accountant and in honor of it being tax day here in the US, I give you the best one he has given me so far for this year. There are plenty more, but this is the best. The very best. It is actually one of the best of all time as far as jaw dropping goes.

This A list actor. 95% of the time film. Single and allegedly never married. This is the first year he used this accountant and when he was reviewing the forms he noticed that he was listed as single on the tax forms. Our actor then proceeded to tell the accountant that the actor has been married for many years. The fact that he has only seen his foreign wife once in the interim did not change the fact that he was married. Our actor apparently does send money sometimes to his wife, but apparently does so in his corporate name. The accountant got the feeling that the wife actually has no idea who she is actually married to. Our actor meanwhile loves the deduction that comes with being married. It apparently is the one thing he really enjoys about being married. He also uses it as an excuse when a woman tries to pressure him into marriage. He explains to prospective future brides that although he would love to get married to them he is unfortunately already married and the process for divorce will take a year or two. In the meantime why not just live together or be girlfriend and boyfriend. Invariably the relationship dies out before the divorce becomes final. The actor never starts the paperwork and has never been challenged by the IRS about being married. They must not read the tabloids.

Clooney was married once before. There was an article yesterday (british I think) about his anti-marriage shrine.

    Sounds like a skeeze.

It's hard to think of someone who hasn't been married before.

    ReplyDelete
  2. George Clooney comes to mind, except he was married for 4 years to a woman named Talia in the 80s. This says never married. What serial-relationship A list, never married actor is there?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Clooney popped into my head, too, but I think a big clue here is that this A lister uses his corporation to send the wife money. So an A-lister who also had a production company was my thought. I'm just blanking on who could fit the bill!

  8. Anthony Hopkins was married for many years. He divorced the long-time wife and remarried.

    ReplyDelete
  9. This screams Clooney, but that would be too obvious right? I like the Hopkins guess but he's married according to IMDB, what about Keanu Reeves?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Doesn't he have to give the Feds her Social Security #?

If the wife has no idea who she's actually married to, is she in Asia, Africa or the Middle East, in some culture so sequestered that she never sees Western press?

    ReplyDelete
  11. When Javier first came on the radar I could swear he was married but as his popularity rose the wife went away.

    ReplyDelete
  12. It doesn't scream Clooney when the blind says 'single and allegedly never married' when everyone knows Clooney was married to actor Martin Balsam's daughter, Talia.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Clooney was married to Talia Balsam for a stretch; they had a rather nasty divorce, if I remember correctly -- it was well-publicized, anyway.

This sounds like one of those EL-isms that throws everyone off track and means nothing. I'm not sure we should put much weight into this one.

  16. Pacino is an excellent guess.

Clooney was married to John Slattery's current wife (Carrie Bradshaw's politician who liked water sports/Gabrielle Solis' dead mayor husband).

    ReplyDelete
  17. pardon my adjective "screams", I didn’t realize Clooney had been married guess I don’t keep up on this stuff as diligently as others

    ReplyDelete
  18. Jamie Foxx or Joaquin Phoenix?

    ReplyDelete
  19. leonardo DiCaprio
    Djimon Hounsou
    Benicio Del Toro

    ReplyDelete
  20. John Cusack. Has a production company called New Crime Productions.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I was just going to say Pacino too. Did a search on Oscar nominees/winners. Per his IMDB page: "One of the few Hollywood stars who has never married."

    Still perusing the list though.

    ReplyDelete
  22. c- 95% film eliminates jamie foxx he did lots of TV, clooney too.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm voting Clooney and some Italian chick by his villa there...

    ReplyDelete
  24. ykkstuck...oh dear, my post did sound harsh. Sorry about that! I didn't mean to come across as a crab ass....lol.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Adrien Brody
    Joaquin Phoenix
    Ed Norton

    ReplyDelete
  26. adrien brody was unknown to most til he did the pianist(age 29). he could have been married younger.although an oscar winner, he isn't that well known in many countries. his "wife" thinks she married a nice guy that sends some cash when she needs it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Didn't Pacino have twins with that actress? You know...

    ReplyDelete
  28. Adrien Brody got engaged in 2006.

Others I found going through Oscar noms (though I know that's not the only A list criteria, but it's an easy quick hit) and checking bios on IMBD are:
Kevin Spacey - they actually mention that not much about his personal life is known at all.

    Joaquin Phoenix

I was going to list Jamie Foxx, but his TV work would seem to invalidate that.

    ReplyDelete
  29. have you guys heard of a website called whosdatedwho.com?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Beverly D'Angelo. Yes, twins with her and another child with his acting teacher.

Brit Brit, never heard of that one.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I dunno, but I wanna shake this man's hand, great idea. :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. dig - "engaged" isn't married.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Keanu Reeves.
Minimal TV, famously single, and according to IMDB.com, "Whatever he knows, he's not telling the public--his self-deprecating interview tactics and mysterious private life provide little insight into his artistry."

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thanks TS - have been reading this blog for a while and thought it a strange response.

Anyways, Im thinking about this and am certainly no accountant but wouldnt the "wife" need a social security # or something to be included in some kind of tax reporting? If now ... oh, I forgot to mention Im married to a hot _____ guy and I have 10 children that live with him I need to claim ...

    thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  35. What TV has Pacino ever done?

    ReplyDelete
  36. it ain't Clooney for sure.

i like the John Cusack guess.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I like the Al Pacino guess.

    ReplyDelete
  38. ykk-
I'm guessing that there is no SSN on the wife. Unless she's tried to live in the US in the past it seems unlikely she would have ever had to get a SSN.

    ReplyDelete
  39. ykk, what Flora said. I think they probably have to provide some documentation or proof that the spouse exists and is still married to the person, it just wouldn't be a social security number.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I like the John Cusack guess too

    ReplyDelete
  41. Doubt it's Leo. Sounds like someone older like Pacino.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think John Cusack is a great guess. I don't remember him from TV at all, but looks like he was in a TV movie once. I looked on his IMDb profile and man, he's dated a lot of famous women...

    ReplyDelete
  43. Although the Cusack guess is a great one, only 1 out of the 56 credits on his IMDB profile is for TV (Jack Bull - I think it was an HBO movie) I'm not sure that qualifies as "95% of the time film", more like 99%.
He was rumored to have married Jodi Lyn O'Keefe (Prison Break) a couple of years ago and she DOES wear a ring on her ring finger. Couldn't tell ya if it's a wedding ring though.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'm going with Pacino on this one. He did "Angels in America" for HBO. I think that would qualify for TV. I am having a problem figuring out how the wife wouldn't know who she was married to. That doesn't make much sense.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm all for the John Cusack guess. The guy's a prick and the extreme opposite of his nice guy characters (sorry ladies). God knows he is selfish enough to use someone else for his benefit.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I would think that during that nasty spat that Al Pacino and Beverly D'Angelo had over custody, if she had a secret like this on him, she would have been to Page Six like she had been shot out of a cannon.

    ReplyDelete
  47. It doesn't say that the 5% is for TV. It could be for NY theater work, which Pacino has done.

    I'll vote Pacino.

    ReplyDelete

I wonder if this is the answer to any of the marriage in peril blinds. From an Aussie Mag

    http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m143/tonka_04/EP.jpg

They claim Ellen Pompeo's wedding is trouble after only 5 months.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I'm with Brendalove and Merlin d bear on this one - Keanu.

    ReplyDelete
  50. many guesses are not A listers by ENT's definition. i think we're down to 4 possibles.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I hate to say this but why would an A list celebrity care about taking a deduction for a wife when it might be leaked that he has a wife. And if a tabloid found out, they could locate the wife, who could then divorce him for much, much more than the amount of the deduction. But then again, not many hollywood types are that logical.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I like the Cusack guess too, but is he often in the tabloids?

    ReplyDelete
  53. two questions: is SHE signing these joint returns? and is there an undeclared child involved?

    ReplyDelete
  54. shit i totally forgot about the Jodi Lynn O Keefe marriage rumour with Cusack. it was super fishy and i dont think either denied it or what the hell happend.

i think he started dating Neve Campbell after that.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Cap--

If our actor likes the tax break so much that he's remained married, I'd venture to guess he'd report the kidlet(s), too. As for the tax return: does anyone know if she'd have to sign them if he claims head-of-household status, or is she just a "write off"?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Doesn't "allegedly" means something like "apparently"? El is a lawyer and, in terms of gossips, one can get off the law suits if one use the term "allegedly" instead of asserting offensive statements.
My English is shaky... If I am right, Clooney would be a good guess since the press usually implies he never married. This is the general image but not necessary the truth.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Clooney was married. I like the Pacino guess...

Maybe the reason she doesn't know who she is married to is because she does not live in the US and is not familiar with US movies?

Does Pacino go by any other name?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Another unmarried A-lister: Matthew McConaughey

    ReplyDelete
  59. gossipgirl: with Pacino, it might be that he's "married" to someone who is not just far removed from US pop-culture, but she could be considerably younger: someone who wouldn't really be familiar with or interested in his oeuvre. Come to think of it, that would work with Cusack, too. Reeves, less so because kids dig the matrix movies.

    ReplyDelete
  60. omg i love the matthew mccon guess, that boy is always in the tabloids, dating one then another, and i would say he is a list

i cant think of any non-film....at all

    ReplyDelete
  61. Matt is engaged to his babay momma.

    ReplyDelete
  62. engaged aint married, and the blind even says it always dies before marriage

    ReplyDelete
  63. I really like the Keanu Reeves guess. Of course George Clooney was the first name that popped into my head, but he really doesn't fit when you think about it. Keanu, baby. THAT would make my jaw drop.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Monday Tuesday Thursday . ..

    It's Appolonia!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Is Keanu still A list?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Ok, so what qualifies one as "A" list? Is it name-recognition or quality of movies?

    ReplyDelete
  67. Guess whos in the randome photos. coincidence?

    ReplyDelete
  68. A list is either an Oscar winner (Best Actor/Actress is permanent A list, I think. Correct me if I'm wrong, guys...), someone who commands a salary in the top 5 (example: Reeves = $15millionUSD per film) someone with a blockbuster franchise (example: Cameron Diaz and the "Shrek" movies)

For this blind, another factor that makes me think Reeves: he's not a US citizen, is he? He's a Canadian, and IMDB says he maintains Canadian citizenship and a Canadian passport. SO MUCH EASIER for a non-US citizen to claim ANOTHER non-US citizen when they file taxes. Might make for less questions asked if both parties to the marriage are NOT citizens of the US. Reeves. Final answer.

For some reason I thought Keanu was from Lebanon?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Ryan Gosling? He's from Canada. Never married. Relationships that have died out.

  71. Yes brendalove, he was born in Lebanon.

  72. Anonymous6:32 PM

Wow, Ent, this is a crap blind item. It's absurd. You're trying to tell me that this guy is A-list famous, tells women he's married, and yet no one else knows? None of those women he's dated and rejected for marriage has ever said anything to the tabloids? You seriously expect us to buy that? Please.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Anonymous6:36 PM

I just did some wikipedia-in', Keanu has dabbled in TV stuff. I think its him. This is one of those blinds that won't ever be revealed though.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Brendalove, yup, yup, yup. The Wiki has some stage things for KR, too.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I was thinking about Appolonia, too, buford!
Alsoooo...didn't most of us think Pacino was the actor who keeps stacks of twenty dollar bills around for tipping and is never worried about robbery?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Leo (the commenter, not the actor) - that is exactly what I thought! I can't believe I was getting so far down in my scrolling to the end before someone brought up the fact that the blind states he's actually TOLD several women he's dated that he is married. Wouldn't that have gotten out?? Maybe the women that try to pressure him into marriage that he ends up explaining his situation to are also random unknown foreigners?

C'mon ent. atleast give us his income bracket!...if you expect us to believe this one.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Anonymous7:46 PM

Amy, I know, right? Either he's A-list somewhere like Japan, or I'm calling shenanigans on Ent. :)

    ReplyDelete
  78. STOP with the Pacino guesses! I'm 99% sure he's still with Beverly D'Angelo. I do research at the school his kids are going to and he and Beverly were together at the parents welcoming day this past Fall. Plus, the blind says he consistently dates women for a couple of years and lets them go, where have we heard that about Pacino?

    ReplyDelete
  79. Jack-In-The-BOX..Nickelson..(How eva you spell it!!!????????????)????????????????

    ReplyDelete
  80. has to be in the tabloids.
    what about Leo diCaprio?
    Engaged and doesn't marry them
    likes foreign gals
    ?

    ReplyDelete
  81. Pacino and D'Angelo had a very nasty break-up where they used the kids against each other. It's really good to hear that they have mended things enough to put the kids first, but I doubt they are together again.

Keanu fits the clues, except it just doesn't seem like him. He has been extremely generous with is sister (who is very ill) and was so with the mother of his child (who died) before she committed suicide by crash. It would be so out of character for him to treat this wife so shabbily. And who does Keanu date anyway, short term or long term?

  84. I would have guessed Woody Harrelson, but I don't think it's him. He's not A list and people know that he's married. It's weird that you never hear much about his relationship with Laura Louie, and he's rarely photographed with her.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Joaquin Phoenix? LOL, thought I'd throw that into the mix. Also Ed Norton....
As per wiki, Jack Nicholson was married from 1962-1968 to Sandra Knight.
George Clooney has been married too.
I think Leo DiCaprio is 95% known for his films but he's 'only' done about 19 of them.

I vote Al Pacino (he's won an Obie and a Tony for his work on Broadway), Ed Norton, or Joaquin Phoenix.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I don't think the girlfriends would blab. They must have been long-time girlfriends if they started to talk about marriage. I expect there haven't been many, maybe three or four women and since he's A-list, I guess he just pays them to keep their mouthes shut. It's not like he wanders around at parties telling random people he's married.

As for the guess: Keanu Reeves's appearance in the random photos today makes me think it's him.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Anonymous7:00 AM

Pacino doesn't fit and don't get too worked up about the corporation. Most actors have production companies or business projects so payments under a corporate name is no big deal. I'm kind of feeling the Leo guess. Maybe he tells the foreign models he dates not to talk about his wife to the press. He'd have to keep his impending "divorce" pretty quiet.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Kathleen, you have a point -- I didn't read the BI closely enough to notice it doesn't say TV for the 5%, and Pacino's stage work would cover that gap. That may be why he settled with D'Angelo after all the mess.

BTW, he was probably at the school to keep a united front with D'Angelo to keep the kids on track. I think the twins are #'s 3 and 4, so he knows by now that single-parent kids will play the absent parent for all they're worth, especially if the parent's a celebrity.

But he's like the Muhammmed Ali of acting; wtf doesn't know who Al Pacino is in the world?

If Keanu -- even if his wife is Inuit, they *have* TV and mail in the Yukon!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Yeah, it's a stretch to imagine an A-lister going unnoticed as such by his own wife. The internet is everywhere. I kinda chose to ignore that, because of the way it's phrased: The CPA "got the feeling" that the wife has no idea who she married. The CPA doesn't know for sure. I bet she knows, but shuts up because she gets the cash that comes with marrying an A-Lister, but doesn't have to deal with the care-and-feeding of his ego on a daily basis, she doesn't have to deal with anything about him on a daily basis...I mean, if it is actually Reeves, that sounds like a blessing. All of the money. None of the Keanu. Win-Win.

    ReplyDelete
  90. wow, you guys are really ruining my whole lloyd dobler fantasy!!!!!

haha, i have to admit, john cusack being a jerk is somewhat shocking to me. & heartbreaking!! hes just not followed by paps enough to get a feel for his real personality. but i know hes real good friends with jeremy pivert & hes a notorious douchebag.
whatever, i still love you lloyd!!!!!!

    & no, i have no guess..lol

    ReplyDelete
  91. This may be way off base, but what if the wife really doesn't know who her husband is because she knows him by his real name and he uses a stage name for acting-purposes? I still think the whole "the wife actually has no idea who she is actually married to" part is BS and she would have to be living under a rock...but if true, maybe that could be the reason? Just a thought.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Al and Bev hate each other.Their twins have serious health issues and they try to be decent parents, but the kids are raised by a group of his and hers nannies.Bev is a medicated mental mess and he wants to take the kids back to New York to live and is waiting to make his custody move. Keep your enemies close...you know the drill. It isn't Pacino by the way. He isn't married and never has been.He isn't interested.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Gotta tell 'ya, speaking as a woman of a certain age-- after a while, the guy could stay away and you'd be fine with it, long as the check arrives. Especially if he's an egotistical jerk. I agree the wife knows *exactly* what she's doing.

Plus, he's kind of a dope if he's that close with a buck; if he ever tries to divorce her, she'll emerge with proof of years of his support -- and using her as a deduction -- and threaten to go to the tabs if he doesn't pay her off BIG time.

    ReplyDelete
  94. lainiekazan--

you and I are probably of the same "vintage" because I totally am with you there, girl! LOL!

I also think that Mrs. A-List has no IDEA how much money he's worth, or how his funds are disbursed (which may be the **real** meaning behind the CPA's cryptic "she has no idea who shes married to" comment) , so if he offered her $15--$20million, she'd take it and run and shut up forever.

That's another good argument for Team Reeves---how much must he be worth, at $10million per movie, plus the 10% of the worldwide box office gross for the "Matrix" series?? Handing $20million of "shut up money" to his ex would be like scraping gum off his shoe!

    ReplyDelete
  95. I'd love to comment on the guesses which are all probably pretty good, but I'm still stuck back at "John Cusack is a jerk". Whatwhatwhat? Oy.

At first blush this seems like it should be someone much older, maybe not as old as Jack Nicholson, but a little his prime.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Ragdoll -- Yessss! Again, I didn't read the text closely enough; he probably sends her support by postal money order or Western Union or something.

    ReplyDelete
  97. ...Bingo, lainiekazan!!! Canadian Business Online puts Reeves' net worth at $336MillionUSD. I'm assuming he's got people to diversify that to the hilt, hide the hell out of a good chunk of it, and they probably also advise him to remain married to Mrs. Mail Order Bride in order to avoid the tax hit. Heck, if he gave her $50 million to go away silently and remain away and silent, it would still beat the tax-hit for that kind of income...

    ReplyDelete
  98. Damn! Who knew Keanu had THAT kind of money! For someone who hides all the time, or comes out looking like a bum, those kinds of assets are just crazy!

Think about it. Sports figures and skanks have to strut it out all the time for that kind of cash - Madonna, Derek Jeter, Tom Brady, Gisele - the public is flogged with their constant presence. But Keanu? No commercials, no late night, no crotchy photo shoots, no duets with dubious singers. How is he doing it?

    ReplyDelete
  99. Back-end deals, Plot. Back-end deals...

I get the feeling most of that haul comes from his "percentage of the gross" for the Matrix franchise. How much did those 3 movies make worldwide, anyway?

Co-incidentally, it's the Matrix $$windfall$$ that catapults him into the "A-List" IMHO. Cuz it AIN'T his Oscar-worthy work...

    ReplyDelete
  100. Factoid:

The 3 "Matrix" films made $1,619,336,688 (USD) combined.

Reeves made: $10,000,000 and 10% of gross for "Matrix" $15,000,000 and 15% of gross EACH for "Revolutions" and "Reloaded" according to IMDB

So, basically he made $40 million in salary, and 40% of $1,619,336,688. Yeah. Billion with a "B." Like, Whoah, dude.

    ReplyDelete
  101. is a $20 million dollar payoff really worth a tax deduction?? maybe it is im a little clueless when it comes to taxes and stuff. i was thinking it was someone like in brad renfro's situation where he got some girl in japan pregnant and mailed her child support. Not saying it is brad renfro by any means, but a big name actor who went and married someone on the other side of the world and sends her a little bit of money now and then

    ReplyDelete
  102. ks--

the $20 million isn't mentioned anywhere in the actual blind. It's a hypothetical amount pulled from thin air. I believe that the truth is closer to what you just posted.

As far as $20mil payoff being worth the tax deduction....it all depends on how our actor is having his books cooked. If they're associating this "wife" with any foreign bank accounts (without her knowledge) she could be worth her weight in gold, depending on how much of his fortune is being "washed" thru her name.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Keanu and Cusak are hardly ever in the tabs. Matt McC is a tabloid favorite, as is Leo DiC. Cusak

    ReplyDelete
  104. Maybe it's not a question of how OFTEN they are in the tabloids, but it's a question of WHAT IS SAID about them whenever they appear in the tabloids (even if it's rarely). The only things we ever hear about Reeves are about the untimely deaths of his child and former girlfriend, and how he's in his 40's and still single. Invariably. That's always the story in the tabloids. He's single, why is he single, is he single because he's gay, he was seen with this-or-that girl, so is it the end of his single-ness...and so on. They always mention his marital status.

DiCaprio is a good guess too, modelizer that he is, but I'm guessing they dont jump on him for being single because for a man in his early-to-mid 30's it's not so unusual. But Reeves is pushing 50, and never married, so they poke at him for it.

    ReplyDelete
  105. OMG, I found this on the web: "Around Christmas 1999 Keanu was expecting a baby girl with his girlfriend Jennifer Syme. The baby was stillborn just a few weeks before the delivery date. Then his girlfriend Jennifer was killed on April 2, 2001, when her Jeep Cherokee careered onto the wrong side of a Los Angeles road near Highway 101 and smashed into three parked cars. The force of the crash flipped the car over, she was thrown through the windshield and killed instantly."

Was he married at the time this happened?

    ReplyDelete
  106. Grace: My guess? He WAS already married.

Poke around the internet for old stories from back when it was first discovered that the girl was pregnant....When the pregnancy was revealed, his mouthpiece also stated that there was no marriage planned for the two prospective parents. Also, Reeves and Syme broke up BEFORE the loss of the child. Meaning, even though Reeves thought he was about to become a father, he STILL didn't stay in the relationship with the pregnant girl. I dug that little gem out of the archives of Ted Casablancas' "Awful Truth" column. Ted actually went so far as to say Reeves didn't even want the child to be born, and that before the second trimester was completed, the Syme girl wasn't even able to speak to Reeves anymore--only his lawyers, and even they would only discuss the (future) kid and the house and car Reeves purchased for her. Keep in mind the source though. I mean, It IS Ted C,. so...grain of salt, right? Hmmmm....

    ReplyDelete
  107. Here are some choice cuts from Ted C's old Awful Truth column (edited for Reeves/babywatch content):

    From "Awful Truth" July 21,1999:
"Slow down, put on the breaks because, baby, this one's worth taking a look at. No, it's not another dismal sequel to the megahit that was 'Speed.' Try a "sequel" to its star, Keanu Reeves. This is the buzz. And if that little gem doesn't impress you enough, there's even more gossip on top of that gossip. Busy little bees deep inside Keanu's honeycomb tell me his pregnant girlfriend is none too happy now, only because Keanu is none too happy himself about his impending papa-hood. Old scenario, right? You got it, my busy buzzybodies. "It's an untenable situation" lamented afriend of the hot couple's. "[She] is very distressed by his behavior."

From "The Awful Truth" also July 1999:

"By the by, Keanu, I guess things have gotten better since that unpleasant meeting-witnessed by many at Chaya here in L.A.-you had with your galfriend before you left town for The Replacements. I assume that has nothing to do with the fact that you have no plans to marry [her], as I was told"

It goes on and on in Ted-speak, I will spare you his twisted writing style: I clipped for content and intelligible sentences.

  108. More "Awful Truth" archives, this time from August 12, 1999:

"Over top secret chit-chat, I'm told by one of my best sources that all this Happy Daddyhood spin you see in the tabloids (can anyone say "publicist payoff?")is nonsense and Keanu's initial reaction to his impending fatherhood (as you first read in this column) was shockingly unsupportive, although, yes, he has now reluctantly turned around, offering the best medical care and the like his paychecks will provide"

From "The Awful Truth" Tuesday September 7, 1999:

"Poop on Prince Keanu: The low key leading man, I'm told by nasty types who know him rather well, was about to start dating new people just as his gal-pal, Jennifer Syme announced her pregnancy. Great timing huh? No wonder he was so frosty at first over fatherhood. Hmmmm. Could one of those potential dates been the Matrix's Carrie-Ann Moss? I do hear their onscreen gooey stuff overflowed right off the big screen. And considering there are about 50 matrix sequels in embryonic stages right now, 'ol Jen might want to take up acting again. Just a thought. Either that or pull a Melanie Griffith and start watching her man's sets like a horny hawk"

From "The Awful Truth" Sept. 14, 1999:

"Keanu Reeves is talking to lawyers now regarding his relationship with pregnant ex-girlfriend Jennifer Syme, so rockin' flies buzz to me. Hmmmm. Must be arrangements for their kid. Or not."

And that's all of TedC's "coverage" of the whole thing. I find KR's reaction a little overly-strong...unless he was worried about the news reaching his wife, and the divorce from one woman while another woman was having his kid would have eaten him alive, financially....

  110. The Tabs are actually extremely kind to Keanu, for some reason. Even before the tragedy of his baby's death, they never went hard for Keanu except for an occasional romance with a sighting in a cafe. Sometimes I think that the whole "David Geffen marriage" thing was handled behind the scenes and the Tabs are nice to Keanu as some secret settlement for their false reporting.

  111. Okay, so Pacino and D'Angelo hate eachother. But I still don't think it's him because how often do we hear about who Pacino is dating in the tabloids? I'm sure that the tabloid mention means that this actor is constantly dating different women/isn't married/ and is always in tabloids because of his promiscuity.

  112. This blind doesn't make sense if you consider this: All of these major celebrities are multi-millionaires and have teams of people taking care of their money and investing it and so forth. I'm sure the same teams take care of the taxes, and a private matter such as this is kept secret at the client's command. Why would a big star, like say, Keanu, take his 300-plus millions to a new accountant, and sit there in the accountant's office going over paperwork and just have that come up? It's not credible. And any accountant who lands such a major client (and isn't in a big financial firm already) is not going to go blabbing his mouth off to a blogger like ent to ruin having his new client.

This is very specific information and suppose Ent IS a lawyer who shares secrets with this successful accountant: As this makes the rounds on the internet- on Gawker, on that main page blind site, etc. - don't you think the actor would get mad at the accountant, and the accountant would realize it was Ent on a blog?

Lowdown - have fun guessing, but this is not a true "scoop" that Ent is privy to, if you use common sense.

  113. trentb -- true that -- but you'd be amazed how much information the supoort staff in a major law or accounting or talent firm or healthcare office has access to. And support staff becomes invisible; if they don't feel well cared-for and treated like professionals, well, the odd leak from a public-email center or strange phone can be quite informative for someone like our Entl.

The accountant may have been chatting indiscreetly while in the rest room, or walking to the exit with his briefcase at the end of a busy day -- right past cubicles full of drones -- and merrily chatting to a colleague or on a cell phone about what he'd heard/seen.

Don't ask me how I know this.

  114. Definitely has to be Keanu. Maybe the baby was "taken care of" and the gf paid off. What a coincidence! At any rate, Keanu came out smelling like a rose and now everyone feels sorry for him. News reports even stated that at the time she was killed, she was his girlfriend, as if they were still together.

  115. Grace-

News outlets reported Reeves as "the current boyfriend" because he identified himself as such to the L.A.Co. coroner's office when he was trying to determine if the person in the morgue had been positively ID'd as Syme. They wouldn't have given him the information if he wasn't involved with the decedent.

Why did he want to know? The Smoking Gun website says that the very next day, Reeves put the house he purchased for Syme (when she first became pregnant) on the market. Nice guy. He only wanted to know if she was dead so he could sell her house....
