Today's Blind Items

Normally I would probably skip this one because of who it is, but what happened just deserves to be told because I definitely have not seen it happen before at such a public event. This guy is a C lister. He is an incredible actor and you would know his face, but probably not his name. Plays and films are what he does the most. He has been in some of the biggest films around. He is a guy that will one day get just that perfect role and get a supporting actor nod from Oscar. He is that good. He started acting when he was a kid and is in one of my favorite films of all time. Well, at an event this weekend, he took using drugs to a whole new extreme. There was no furtive coke use or smoking a joint out back. Nope, this guy did meth and lots of it. In the bathroom, outside during breaks in the event. Didn't care who saw him, didn't care where he did it. Carried the damn pipe in his hand when he wasn't using it. The thing is no one stopped him. No one turned him in, and by the end of the evening the guy was wired out of his mind. Crazy, crazy, crazy and then, just like that he was gone. He had been loud and obnoxious and crazy for so long, and then everyone realized the noise level had dropped and he was gone. No one even saw him leave.

  1. if it's not Danny Michael (who I never heard of), it's definitely somebody who was at the Talk CTV awards show ... enty posted 2 pics from that event

    Boogie Nights
    Waiting
    Harold and Kumar
    Traffic
    + 95 other acting credits

  4. No one stopped him? I thought hollyweird was full of compassionate liberal democrats? Right, they just like to sound compassionate but could care less, the hypocrites that they are.

Who ever it was, let's hope he dies along with the other deviants in hollyweird.

  5. i first thought of that guy from walk hard.

  6. "Just like that he was gone"

    Someone from the Usual Suspects?

    Dan Hedays
    Pete Postlehwaite
    Chazz?

  7. Unicorn - the CTV etalk awards show you're referring to is the Juno Awards (Canadian version of the Grammys) which happened here in Calgary this past weekend. I don't think there were many actors in attendance last night, but I know quite a few people who went to the show, so i'll ask around.

Well, there goes his Oscar. Your chances of getting off meth are very very low.

-and you'd be here why? this fuckin site is FULL up with deviants. run for your life.

  13. "i first thought of that guy from walk hard."

It did make me think of John C. Reilly: Oscar-nominated (for Chicago), tons of movies, got his start in theater. And you wouldn't necessarily notice him if he walked past you on a crowded street. But he hasn't been acting since childhood, I don't think. Plus, he's probably well-known just enough to be considered B-list.

    ReplyDelete
  14. My first thought was Henry Thomas, but I don't think he's been in that many BIG films.

What about John C. Reilly? He's in a LOT of big movies. started acting at age 8. First film role at 13/14

  16. Does anyone remember Ent mentioning any of his favourite movies?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Burgundy, I didn't see your comment before I posted mine.

I think we figured it out.

    ReplyDelete
  18. If nobody knows the name of this guy, then it's not Steve Buscemi or John C. Reilly.

    ReplyDelete
  19. i just love the irony of John C. Reilly (i feel bad that i never remember his name, i love his movies. especially anniversary party!) sings "the invisible man" in chicago. lol

    ReplyDelete
  20. What about someone like Tom Guiry. The Sandlot, Black Hawk Down, Mystic River...

    ReplyDelete
  21. No way is it John C. Reilly. He's been nominated for an Oscar, which takes him above C-list, and people definitely know his name. As for Steve Buscemi - he may not get the recognition that he deserves, but people know him by name.

    ReplyDelete
  22. John C. Reilly has also been married a long time and has a couple of kids. From all I have heard of him he is quite well grounded and very unlikely to go near meth.

    ReplyDelete
  23. wasn't Luis Guzman in Traffic, Carlito's Way, and The Limey?
    all good films.

I htought he was in Sexy Beast too,but i cna't him in htere so I may be thinking the Limey is one that EL talked about...my memory sux.

    ReplyDelete
  24. alright, alirght. I withdraw my John C. Reilly guess.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hey, Miss X! Great minds think alike. I just looked at IMDB and see that Reilly started in amateur theater at 8 years old. So he does fit the criteria. But like everyone else, I'm not getting a meth-head vibe from him. That doesn't mean anything, of course, but he seems pretty level-headed in interviews and such. I don't see him throwing away his career like that.

Guzman's a good guess, but he lives in Vermont with his wife and 5 kids. With such a stable family life, he's not exactly a candidate for being a hardcore junkie.

    This one is tough!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Eileen, what does his theater bio look like? I couldn't find anything.

    ReplyDelete
  27. And there is no way it's Luis Guzman... The affects of meth are well known. In order for Luis to look the way he does and do meth, he would need to be putting away about 14,000 calories a day.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Denis O'Hare--Tony-winning actor who was in Garden State and Michael Clayton, probably more. But he's done a couple of memorable Law and Order episodes, and there's no mention of TV.
But someone like him I would have to say.
Anyone here up on the NY theatre scene?
There's also a new movie coming out "The Visitor" with a popular character/theatre actor in the lead role--Richard Jenkins. He seems a bit old for meth use, however.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Clint Howard was in a movie called Get Crazy - great guess! I can't fine any plays that he was in, though.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I doubt it's Clint Howard for the very fact that he's primarily known as Ron Howard's brother--although, that would definitely explain why no one stopped him...Hollywood royalty.

I also don't think he's a particularly good actor--can't get that one Star Trek episode out of my head..."tragnac".

    ReplyDelete
  31. TS I found a few shows with Thomas Guiry in the cast but I can't definitively say it's the same person. So, it may not be him. But I do believe it will be someone sort of obscure like him.

    ReplyDelete
  32. well if it's not Guzman i give up on the grounds that i really don't give a f*ck.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Eileen, I would think with an odd name like Gulry, it's probably the same person.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I just want to throw this out there but what about danny trejo.... has a long list of credits. But i know he is a recovering addict so i dont know.

  35. Hello from Paris!

I have a pull your head out of your ass guess. You people tell me if you know who Hugo Weaving is. You may know the face but not the name. He was in The Matrix and LOTRm but if you don't care for such movies, you would never know him. He's also known for theater.

He wasn't who came to mind first - Joe Pantalino was and that lead me to weaving.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Kory, bonjour from the U.S.!

Hugo Weaving is a great guess. He was also in The Adventures Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, which was a great movie. It seems as though he has been acting since he was a teenager, at least.

IMDB also says he suffers from epilepsy and is a pesco vegetarian, one who eats fish but no other animals.

Seems hard to believe an epileptic vegan would do meth, but you never know. He fits the criteria in other ways though.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hugo Weaving is famous for his roles in LOTR and Matrix. I don't think he's C list. Agent Smith and Elrond were relatively large roles.

    ReplyDelete
  38. he's been acting since he was a kid? shouldn't that narrow it down?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hey Carrie, I'm in Calgary too...for the last 4 days I've been almost hit by a limo every day. I'm so glad it's over...*L*

I have no guess for this BI...thought Buscemi for a sec but it just doesn't fit...

    ReplyDelete
  40. I don't think that the HW guess is a good one, but in defense, don't let the vegetarian part throw you off. I know several vegetarian/drug users - River Phoenix. for example.

Now the epilepsy is another thing. I don't know this, but maybe meth could calm it down. Who knows - I'm drunk and should be in bed.

  41. I think that pope-rah was correct in spotting the clue "and then, just like that, he was gone". It has to be one of the guys from The Usual Suspects.
I went a did a search on imdb and Kevin Pollak fits the clues. He started in the bidness at age 10, and everything.

  42. The '08 New York Emmy Awards were last night, but I can't find any pics from it other than the ones EL posted. (I don't have time to do a lot of looking today.) I'm wondering if it was someone who was at that event rather than the Juno Awards.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Anonymous3:54 PM

warren - argh, took my guess. He was in Goonies which IS one of Ent's favorite movies of all time.

The only thing I don't get is: a) why wasn't Diane Lane there? and b) Why would she put up with him on meth?

    ReplyDelete
  44. You could show me a picture of him, and I would not know John C Reilly's name.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Danny Trejo on meth? Just the idea of it scares the hell out of me.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Who doesn't know Josh Brolin's name, especially after No country for old men? i mean his stepmother is barbara streisand!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I am wondering why ent says that he will someday get the perfect role & a best supporting actor nom, why supporting?

    ReplyDelete
  48. with all the slimy types in hollywood , & this guy doing it in front of everyone & not one single person telling anyone, i'm thinking this may have been a somewhat private affair & any old phoebe price-wannabe couldnt just walk right in.

    WHY IS THIS A SECRET!?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Anonymous4:56 PM

Best supporting actor tells us that he is not the leading man type. He plays either smaller parts or is a character actor, or does comedic roles.

    ReplyDelete
  50. "not" - Try crawling out of Rush Limbaugh's ass for a minute. It's rather nice out here. Gotta love the rightards.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Kevin Pollak sounds like a GREAT guess to me. Josh Brolin is too well known.

    ReplyDelete
  52. What about Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
He's been in Boogie Nights and my personal favorite, The Big Lebowski.

Hoffman is a serious Broadway baby. I don't know about the kid acting stuff, but Hoffman is my guess.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hoffman is not C list - he's already won an Oscar for Capote where he was the lead.

    ReplyDelete
  54. What about Billy Crudup? He's been in sooo many movies - many big ones, done a lot on stage, has the tendancy to look skelatal and no one EVER knows his name (except Claire Danes).

    ReplyDelete
  55. Anonymous5:52 PM

Kevin Pollak is a FABULOUS guess. I could kind of picture his face in my head when I saw the guess, but it wasn't until I googled it that I was all "oh yeah THAT guy". I totally recognize the face, but wouldn't always be able to tell you on demand what his name is.

Not sure about C list, but out of all the guesses so far this is the one that rings true to me.

NOW - can we figure out the event he was attending? (meaning, can someone ELSE figure it out? I suck at this sh*t...LOL)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Well it made me wonder if the dude's still alive or not!

Wonder if anyone thought to check up on him afterwards?

Buscemi popped into my head right away. Not sure about acting since a kid, though.

I love the Usual Suspects and I gotta agree that Pollak is a great guess. If so, I like Ent's taste in movies!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Doesn't whoever this is have friends? What a sad situation.

Could the whole sentence rather than just the second half be a clue?

"Crazy, crazy, crazy and then, just like that he was gone."

  60. I was reading about the kid from Caddyshack last night and was suprised to learn he's already had a SA Oscar nom. And he has many credits in theatre as well as awards and no one would know to see him on the street.

    http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001574/

You may recognize him from Roseanne or even Caddyshack but it would take a bit.

That's my pathetic guess. Did Ent like Caddyshack? or The Great Santini?

    ReplyDelete
  61. @dr.Jerkberg. Yeah, he's basically a working actor now. He does lots of Law and Order episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  62. How 'bout William Fichtner? I swear, the guy is in every 3rd movie I watch these days. A few of his credits: "Contact," "The Perfect Storm," "Black Hawk Down," "Armargeddon," "Heat." I don't know about any plays, though...

    ReplyDelete
  63. List of former child actors:

    ReplyDelete
  65. But, no evidence of him being a child actor or doing stage work

    ReplyDelete
  66. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Michael Wincott.

He's been acting since he was young (Wild Horse Hank, when he was just a teen) He's also someone who's face you recognize, but no one knows his name... and his performances are always intense. People remember him.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I am so glad that there are REALLY smart people who comment and provide clues for the rest of us.

Looking for an actor from 'Usual Suspects' is spot on, IMO, because I googled the phrase "crazy, crazy, crazy and then, just like that he was gone" and got this website as as result. LOL. I removed the "crazy, crazy, crazy" and searched for "and then just like that, he was gone" and one of the results was "Ususal Suspects memorable movie quotes".

I think it is Giancarlo Esposito. He started acting in 1968 at 10 years old in a play on Broadway called 'Maggie Flynn' and has starred in 10 other Broadway productions including Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (2008). There is an IBD (Internet Broadway Database) profile for him. He is a member of Atlantic Theater Ensemble, started by William H. Macy. He has a recognizable face and a name you would never guess. And he is a REALLY good actor.

The only thing that doesn't fit is his appearance. In a recent picture on wireimage.com taken this March, he looks healthy. Hmmmm...

If it's him, this is really sad.

P.S. Has Kevin Pollack been in any plays? All I could find was stand-up comedy at the age of 10.

he was in Traffic (thats all i remember him in) & his IMDB says he did theatre.

    ReplyDelete
  72. It's totally John Malkovich. Think about it.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Anonymous10:29 PM

it HAS to be Kevin Pollack. i did the same thing as someone else.. didnt know the name but looked him up on IMDB and he fits everything. He was even in ET, which could easily be counted as a favorite film of all time. Very much a supporting actor as well, couldn't really see him as a leading role. so sad that he has turned to this, it says he is married too :(

    ReplyDelete
  74. hmmm i also thought maybe Jeremy Davies?

    ReplyDelete
  75. What planet would John Malkovitch be c list? and kevin pollack is solid B list. I'm thinking this is someone young. Old or even middle aged people don't do meth.Pantoliano, by the way, is a great guy and I know his wife and there's no way he's doing meth. This is someone single with no kids. Lots of these names being thrown around are some pretty well known guys. Weaving is a superstar, for example-anyone see V is for Vendetta? Great film , BTW. I think this is someone young, someone unknown and in bit-albeit speaking and significant- parts in big films.

    ReplyDelete

  77. Jeremy Davies is a great guess.

  79. he recently said steve bucemi deserves an award for his talent. its him for sure!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Steve Buscemi is not C list. He's a minus to b plus. Also, i seriously doubt ENty's favorite film of all time is ET.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Giovanni Ribisi came to mind, which makes me upset.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Anonymous11:39 PM

By the time someone is smoking meth in a pipe that often, and far gone enough not to hide it - they're going to look like it. Meth rags people out quickly.

I don't have a guess, but recommend using physical appearance as a big guide here. Look for skinny and looking too harsh for their age actors.

    ReplyDelete
  83. There are quite a few pictures today from Idol Gives Back, which was taped this Sunday and will air Wednesday night. There is a mix of C/B/bordering on A list people attending that. And this would make sense as I can't think of anything else that would require multiple "breaks in the event" (i.e., commercial breaks).

Ent's surprise is mainly because he's never seen something like this at such a public event. American Idol is definitely public, cameras everywhere; out of anything that took place this weekend IGB was probably the most public event of them. It would surprise me too, that someone would do this, there of all places.

That's the only guess I really have. I'm almost the only Idol fan here, heh; I'll watch Wednesday and try to take note of everyone that was there.

This blind depresses me. Of all the drugs in the world WHY would anyone want to do meth? What is scariest about meth to me is not its effects but in how fast those effects take place. It makes coke and heroin look like gateway drugs.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I just searched IGB on Getty Images and I apparently underestimated the guest list by almost a full letter. After the process of elimination there was no one on Getty who fit the criteria.

Of course, it could be someone who wasn't an official guest but was at the taping, or all the red carpet pictures are not up yet.

    ReplyDelete
  85. How about Sam Rockwell?

    ReplyDelete
  86. How about someone from that movie "Gone in Sixty Seconds"?

    ReplyDelete
  87. My very first thought was someone from the Usual Suspects because of the quote, but I was thinking Chazz Palminteri - he is currently starring on Broadway in A Bronx Tale which he brought to screen as well. Not sure if he started acting as a child, but I think he's more on the mark than Pollack who is a comedian and whom I couldn't imagine getting an Oscar.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I know Hugo Weaving AND Michael Pitt by both face and name. Hugo Weaving is KNOWN. "V for Vendetta", anyone? "Lord of the Rings"?

Sam Rockwell is also too known. Beautiful tension, in what universe would John Malkovich be C-list and not have name recognition?
I also know Jeremy Davies and Giovanni Ribisi both by name and face, so... Same for Chazz Palminteri.

I'll throw Clark Gregg out there, just for the fun and because he's married to Jennifer Grey. Don't remember him as a really impressing performer, though.

So: We are looking for someone like Tim Roth (as an actor), only less famous. Do you think we are ever going to crack this one?

    ReplyDelete
  89. Anonymous7:40 AM

I was thinking Joaquin Phoenix or Vicent Gallo for some reason.

    ReplyDelete
  90. This comment has been removed by the author.

  91. "He started acting when he was a kid and is in one of my favorite films of all time."

I took this as the favorite movie being when the child actor was in it, so it could be 15, 20, or even 30 years ago.

Add that to the Usual Suspects acting list and who do we have?

    ReplyDelete
  92. I thought of Thomas Haden Church...I believe he was in Random Photos recently.

    ReplyDelete
  93. My guess is Ron Eldard, see here:
    http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0253035/

House of Sand & Fog is one of my fave movies, but I always remember him for that wanky role on E.R.

    ReplyDelete
  94. The child actor part doesn't work (I don't think), but Peter Greene was in The Usual Suspects (Redfoot) as well as big movies like Pulp Fiction (Zed), The Mask, Training Day and War of the Worlds. Plus, he was a heroin addict who was caught buying crack last summer.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I would go with Giovani Ribisi.

    ReplyDelete
  96. look for someone with bad teeth and sores on their face. meth addicts are not pretty-boys.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Thomas Hayden Church was already nominated for a supporting actor oscar for Side Ways, right?

    ReplyDelete
  98. No one's guessed Benicio del Toro?

I wouldn't have called him c-list, but otherwise he fits. He's a great actor (and a method actor) and kind of a nut, started acting as a child (not super-young though). Out of anybody in The Usual Suspects, he's the one that fits best IMO - brilliant actor, crazy as a loon, most likely to do meth.

    ReplyDelete
  99. OK i'm gonna say emile hirsch...he was in that movie Into the Wild which got great reviews, he's been in lots of movies but you don;t know his name. AND when he was a kid he was in that movie The Dangerous Lives of Alterboys

    ReplyDelete
  100. Oh wait - just read the bit about not having an Oscar yet. I read that wrong (Benicio does). So, never mind. >sheepish<

    ReplyDelete
  101. Ribisi plus the "Crazy crazy crazy" line go together, given some of the roles he's played.

I would hate to think it's him.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Joseph Gordon Levitt.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Anonymous10:21 AM

What about Sean Astin? Did the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and both Rudy and Goonies are cult classic favorites of many. Started acting as a kid. Recognizeable face, great actor, definately worth at least an SA Oscar nod someday...dont know about the stage stuff though.

    ReplyDelete
  104. no it cant be giovanni rabisi... he is a wonderful actor doesnt have a meth face

    ReplyDelete
  105. Ben Foster? From 310 to Yuma.

    ReplyDelete
  106. "Seems hard to believe an epileptic vegan would do meth, but you never know..."

this made me laugh pretty hard. i have no good guesses.

    ReplyDelete
  107. This is NOT Emile Hirsch -- he has not done a movie that ENT would call "his favorite of all time."

Eveyrone knows Ribisi's name (AND his famous face) AND that of Sean Astin.

    ReplyDelete
  108. there's an interview with Michael Pitt in an Italian newspaper where he totally has methface.

    ReplyDelete
  109. speaking of one of my all time favorite movies as well, 'the anniversary party' - what about alan cumming? enty LOVES him, but he totally strikes me as someone who would do that.

if not, i'll throw my hat in for ribisi.

    ReplyDelete
  110. *sigh* i don't want it to be michael madsen.
    lol i adore him.
OH! AND I HAVE ANOTHER GUESS

    ANTHONY RAPP!!!
but i hope not him, either because I've met him and he was super nice lol but thats just a split second in time outside Rent a million years ago :P

Oh, and we all know that Adventures in Babysitting is fucking classic :P
    Bet its Enty's favorite.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Lukas Haas, thats my guess... He seems to make sense

    ReplyDelete
  112. Giovani Ribisi is a hardcore Scientologist.

Although, I don't remember if he ever went to Narconon.

    ReplyDelete
  113. i agree with lukas haas. he was a child-actor and is more of a character actor than a leading man.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Hi, lurker here 1st post :)
I agree with the lukas haas guess
check out the photo on his website
    http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=104383107

also he was in random with the 'getting strange every day' byline.
    :{

    ReplyDelete
  115. i'm on board with the lukas haas guess -- he fits in every way. could the last bit about 'no one saw him leave' be a play on 'witness'?

just read that he was in the band 'bunny' with vincent gallo -- is this what happens when you start hanging with gallo in stead of di caprio? that is one downward spiral right there.

(he's looking pretty haggard in the random photo from yesterday, too)

    ReplyDelete
  116. I. have. an. idea. Thinking of the C-list-actor who is not Aidan Quinn: What about Eric Stoltz? "Mask", "Pulp Fiction", "Killing Zoe", "Little Women", "The Prophecy", "Rob Roy", "Jerry Maguire", "Rules of Attraction", "The Butterfly Effect"... He sure IS an incredible actor who can play just about anything. He started filming at the age of 17, while at 14 he already played piano for theatre productions. He does theatre - on and off broadway. And he has been linked to a bunch of famous women without every being married.

I have a pretty good feeling about this, what do you think? I still really, really hope it's not him. He's so f***ing talented.

    ReplyDelete
  117. lukas haas...
lady in white was such a good movie.
and he was so creepy in the twilight zone
