Turns out that a key scene in the new Batman film may have to be cut because audiences have not reacted well. The scene shows Heath Ledger's character The Joker playing dead inside a body bag. When it first came on the screen people were gasping and there was a great deal of shuffling and murmuring as well. For obvious reasons there is an argument to cutting the scene, but the scene is also crucial to the film, and so right now no one can decide what to do. I doubt it will be cut.
The good news is that Heath Ledger gave the performance of a lifetime and people will always be talking about his Joker and that it puts Jack Nicholson's Joker look like a Three Stooges episode. With no Katie Holmes to bring the film down with her box office jinx, Warner Brothers is expecting the film to be absolutely huge.
I am looking forward to watching this one.
ReplyDeleteI liked the first one and thought it was way better than the other Batman movies. It explained the character more and Christian Bale was a better Batman.
Who were the daisies that couldn't handle the screening?! Unless it was Keith's mother, nobody should be this sensative. Give me a break - I bet Keith would want it left in.
ReplyDeleteKeith who? Urban? Why does it matter what he thinks?
ReplyDeleteThat's obviously a typo meaning Heaths mother.
ReplyDeleteOoopss!! Sorry! I meant Heath!! Thanks for the correction!
ReplyDeleteNo problem, Sheetrock. It's not brain surgery - I think 99% of the readers would have gotten what you meant. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThey should leave it in there. As a performer, I don't think anyone would want their work messed up like that. If it offends someone, they shouldn't watch it.
ReplyDelete"Keith" lol..himself would have fought to keep it in. In fact i hope he receives a posthumous Oscar nod...if deserved of course.
ReplyDeleteTwisted Sister - It's the one percent who won't get it that scare the Hell out of me! Thanks for your forgiveness everybody.
ReplyDeleteOh come on people! Suck it up! This will be an EPIC MOVIE.
ReplyDeleteBy 'people', I meant the ones at the screening, not you guys lol
ReplyDeleteSheetrock, don't be scared, we'll protect you. See my new spray in my avatar?
ReplyDeleteI think people are just shocked to see it more than anything else. Once word gets out, it will become a non-issue.
Twisted Sister, I did indeed notice your new BBG Spray! Oh, how there's been times in my life where I coulda used a bottle of that!
ReplyDeleteSheet, there have been times here I could have used a bottle of that...lol.
ReplyDeleteTwisted - Believe me, I've seen the cat fights on here. SCARY!!!!
ReplyDeleteFrankly, I don't see the big deal about showing his character in a body bag. He's dead in real life, and I guess he dies in the movie.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about Heath's mother but I'm sure his father would want the scene left in. If it does become an issue, expect the family to release a statement.
ReplyDeleteTS i love the bottle! Where's the order form? I'll take 2.
ReplyDeletePoor boy.
ReplyDeletePM...lol...don't we wish we really could buy these???
ReplyDeleteOMFG.
ReplyDeleteHeath was acting. That's what he did. He acted. Actors often portray dead people. Its not like they filmed his actual dead body in the body bag. People need to do some serious growing up.
no you're rigth Brenda..we already saw that on TMZ.
ReplyDeleteyou know its been 3 months and i still cant beleive he's dead.
It's art, or at least, it's a movie. Personally, I was more attracted to seeing 'The Crow' after the whole Brandon Lee incident, which is ghoulish, but also true. Great film, too. I think that this film will make Heath even more of an icon, because that's what happens in these situations. Too bad he's not here to enjoy it.
