A 10 Billion Dollar Crackhead

When is the last time you saw someone use crack who is worth 10 Billion Dollars? I'm guessing Bill Gates and Warren Buffett don't own a crack pipe. It's just a guess, but I am going out on a limb and saying they probably don't. Until a few minutes ago, I would have said it is 100% certain they don't. Then I read about this couple.

Eva Rausing is married to the third richest person in the UK. She is American born and the daughter of a big shot at Pepsi. The couple is worth over 10 Billion Dollars and yet she was arrested yesterday trying to allegedly bring heroin and crack into the US Embassy in London. Nice huh? Turns out she can't go longer than a few hours without either drug and so always keeps them with her.

Her husband Hans was also arrested by police when they searched their home for more drugs.

The couple gives millions and millions each year to charity and Hans has Prince Charles on speed dial and gets to even call him Chuck. There are so many charities in the UK that would have gone out of business if it were not for this couple so what do you do? Do you just say, "oh well, let them do what they want," and risk having people say your organization supports crack heads or do you shun them in which case you shut down and crack heads who don't have ten billion end up without any help at all.

Do you know how addicted you must be to actually try and bring drugs like heroin and crack into an Embassy? Did she think they wouldn't find it? With the kind of money they have, I wonder if they just have a farm in Colombia that grows the coca and poppies for them. Then they sit around the house smoking and injecting and saying things like, "this is a really good vintage."

  4. He looks like he's 12. It just goes to show that no matter how refined people are they can still be effed up.

  5. Given the discretion embassies have to maintain, I am surprised this got out at all. Methinks someone wanted them brought down.

  6. addiction is a disease

would you scorn cancer patients this way?

    how tacky.

  7. mooshki: That's what *I* was thinking, too!

And I am surprised that she was looking for crack. I always thought older rich people liked prescriptions.

  8. Addiction IS a disease, but they were the ones who made the choice to start doing drugs in the first place, so it's not the same as cancer.

  9. @ Jindi

I seriously hope you are kidding with that comment. People choose to pick up drugs. They do not choose to have cancer.

Drug use is a decision. Physical addiction is a consequence, not a disease. Physical dependency on anything, drugs, food, whatever, is not a disease, unless you're counting mental ones.

Well, I think its a disease, but God knows they could have afforded a whole lot of help by now.

  12. Brenda, they've gotten help before. In fact, they met in rehab. Still, soooooooooooo stupid to start doing drugs in the first place. It's like playing Russian Roulette. Doing anything that leads to a disease that's so hard to get beyond is super effed up in my book.

  13. I don't go with the disease thing either. JMHO.

With all their money, they should have paid for some cosmetic surgery and a stylist. They've got some ugly ass hair going on there. You could get her dress at any Marshall's or Forever 21.

  14. These people aren't in the same league as Gates and maybe Buffet (don't know much about him; don't care) because their wealth was inherited. They haven't worked a day in their lives. In the linked article, check out the difference in her legs in the first photo taken at her door and one later in a black frilly dress w/ her husband. Second photo, she's got Winehouse legs, chest, arms... Ew.

  15. Good point, Judi; these dopes (pun intended) inherited their money. Cannot compare to Gates.

And addiction is not a disease nor is it inherited: My parents smoked and my dad is an alcoholic and I do not smoke nor am I an alcoholic. AND I certainly did not inherit any money, either!

Just like smoking and alcohol, drug taking is a lifestyle choice, but yes, addiction is a consequence of that choice.

  16. people who earned their billions like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett would never be this stupid.

Maybe that's why Buffett says he is not leaving his children a single dime of his fortune. Smart man!

  17. Wow, I can't get over how many people ignore what scientific researchers have to say about the effect of drugs on the brain and how addiction is a disease. Please cite your sources and data and educational background for saying it's not.

  18. Anyone can be an addict. Anyone. So sick of people trying to act like it's only 'lowlifes' that do crack and heroin. You would be very surprised to learn that your very own upstanding Dr. has a wicked morphine/heroin/crack addiction. Most opiate addicts turn to cocaine at some point because the nature of this type of addiction makes it very hard to get any type of 'high' anymore except for cocaine, or speed. Take it from me... I've been to some very 'classy' rehabs and most of the time the worst off people were the richest. There is no monetary reason for them to stop and no one to tell them no for the most part. Arrest and humiliation was the #1 factor for the people that I saw to finally stop ( or be more discreet).... BTW, I have been clean for more than 5 years but I was one hell of an addict for a time. Just thought I would put my 2 cents in:)

  20. She obviously has inner demons that she needs to battle and we all know that money cant buy happiness. If she wants to destroy herself with drugs then, as per Ents quote "Oh well, let them do what they want". Its their business.
I would have no qualms about supporting their business (If I knew what their business was) - She isnt hurting anyone other than herself!

  21. How do I advertise to these people??!!?!?!

    I will hook them up!!!

And I will even teach them how to conceal their habits so people really believe they are clean!
