Random Photos Part One

Emilio Navaira was in a serious bus accident over the weekend. I know many of you don't know who he is, but he is someone I have known for a very long time and to see him in critical condition is really tough. Of course, Emilio is a pretty tough guy as well and know he will pull through this and get back to playing some great music.
Aretha Franklin - New York
30 Seconds To Mars - Cape Town
The 3rd annual International Pillow Fight. Do they inspect these things before people start whacking each other, or is this simply an honor system thing?
Lior - Byron Bay
One of the reasons I love Random Photos so much. 50 years from now people will see this photo in a book somewhere and wonder what happened that night, and what it was like to see all three perform at the same time. Of course, I think only 2 of the three performed at any one time, but you get the idea.
Keanu Reeves looks damn good doesn't he? Wow. A shower and a shave within the past week and he is a different guy.
A 1980's we used to be popular reunion. I know John Stamos is still popular, but it doesn't work if you start excluding people from the joke.
The Sonics - London
The Horrors - London
The Black Crowes - Byron Bay
"Next time we are going to the Caribbean."
I'm thinking there are easier ways to hide a zit.

Haven't those poor people of South Africa suffered enough? Now they have to deal with this douche and his lame emo band AND Paris??

Ok, where was the pillow fight? Seriously looks like fun.

We had a water balloon fight in Minneapolis a few years ago that was supposed to be city-wide, but only like 500 people showed up. The organizers provided like 5000 water balloons, but everyone who came brought some (I was able to bring like 50 -- they're heavy!)

  4. I think the couple in the last photo are Prince Phillip and his fiancee Autumn Kelly.

ENT I hope your friend is going to be okay.

I'm loving all the music phots. Hurray for the Sonics!

Keanu does look hot. I'd be happy to scrub him down with Dove soap anytime he doesn't feel like taking a bath.

EL, I'm praying for your friend. He is amongst very capable doctors and I'm sure everyone is doing everything possible for him.

  13. ENT:

IS HENRYY ROLLINS SPILLING THE BEANS ON YOUR HUGE BLIND ITEM ABOUT THE FAKE-SINGER??

    IS IT BRITNEY??

""They have the black chick come in and sing, and Britney sings over it, and they mix them together," said Rollins, who has his own talk show on IFC. "(Britney) gets her phrasing basically from this older R&B woman. I found that out talking to an engineer. "Britney apparently isn't actually the worst singer, she just has no feel. So they bring in this older black woman who sings the song, then Britney sings to it, and they kind of make a mix of the two voices, and that's what you hear on the records.""

    DISH!!

But this is Henry Rollins, and he did sing "I AM A LIAR!"

Sorry, just had to do that. The setup was too perfect.

  16. Emilio is at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center in Houston-absolutely the best hospital in the country, especially for traumatic injuries such as this one.

My little brother was "Life-Flighted" there & spent awhile in Neuro-ICU after a car accident in which he was a passenger-the driver had a blood alcohol level of .33-the driver hit a pole after losing control (the pole hit the car directly at the passenger door-my brother should've died, driver only suffered a broken arm). No one expected him to make it &, at best, thought his right arm would have to be amputated b/c the trauma to it was so severe, he also sustained pretty severe brain trauma...7 years later, he's in pretty much perfect health, and the fantastic docs at Hermann not only saved his arm, but you have to look pretty close to see the scars. And you'd never know he had any type of brain injury-he's finishing up his last semester at UofH. My point is, Emilio's exactly where he needs to be to get the right treatment to give him the best chance at survival. I've been praying for him since the accident.

My fiance was on 610N when it happened, & was stuck there for hours. He had no idea it was Emilo's bus, he just described it as generic tour bus. It's unbelieveable that the accident occurred the way it did & actually stayed on the highway & that Emilio didn't fall after being thrown through the windshield. The pictures I've seen online don't show it, but that interchange & that part of loop 610 is one of the highest in the city. It's a miracle that he's still alive.

Sorry to hear he's a long-time friend, it's incredibly difficult to see someone you care about in that kind of situation. I'm sure Dr. Red Duke is taking good care of him. ;) Your friend is definitely in my prayers.

yellow rose - that's wonderful about your brother, and very encouraging for this Emilio fellow. I've never heard of him, but it sounds like he has lots of fans and is a pretty good guy. My thoughts are with him, and with you, ENT. It's hard watching freidns and family go through this type of thing.

  19. I'm sorry, but someone needs to stage an intervention for Aretha Franklin. Every time I see her she's even bigger than the last time. It can't be healthy. She looks like she could keel over from a heart attack at any minute.

  20. I see a pretty dirty rocker. Aw, Ent... were you listening?

  21. I hope Emilio is doing well; when I first saw the report about his accident on Spanish-language TV, I was afraid he was another of the Tejano performers who's being attacked by drug cartels (they lash out when touring performers refuse to carry contraband with them in their buses.)

    He's in my prayers.

  22. Sometimes I think we Americans are missing out on the whole Hat thing, and then I see a "hat" like that and rethink my position.

But, seriously, Keanu looks amazing. Maybe all that grit and fuzz he normally has protects him from the aging rays of the sun, 'cause damn.

  23. Yellow Rose, so you live in Houston?? I do too...I work at the medical center...

  24. Our prayers are with Emilio, family and friends. We wish him a speedy recovery.
I am a chicanita @ heart. I follow english and spanish celebrity gossip equally. It is very interesting that Ent. knows him personally. I wanna know more now than ever who Ent. is!

  25. I hope your friend pulls through also. My mother had a "massive stroke" in November and I went from preparing for her eventual death onwe night to listening to her tell the doctor the next morning about what had happened the previous day! She's recovered with pretty much no after effects. After experiencing that, I can understand why some people are religious, but I consider us to be extremely lucky. The human brain can work wonders, even after a massive injury. I hope Mr. Navaria has the same luck as my mom, if not greater.

Also, you have awesome concert photos! Whoever takes them has great skill with a camera.

  26. lyz-

Yep, born & raised in Houston-& never plan on leaving. I currently live & work downtown. My fiance is a doc in the med center too & I also have a cousin that works there (nurse)(but the place is so huge, it's doubtful y'all know each other, but ya never know) :)

  27. I also wanted to concur w/ cinnarose on the great concert photos, w/ one tiny complaint. From what little about yourself that you've given away, seems to be agreed (among the commenters) that you either are a native Texan, or just went to school here. Either way-how could you not include more pics of performers at RodeoHouston? (besides that one of Fergie)

Not a country fan? I gotta tell ya, Miranda Lambert put on one hell of a show (& looked like she was having a blast doing it)-plus, she's a hot little blonde spitfire w/ blue eyes & dimples from East Texas (if you like that kind of thing ;)). Or if you could find a shot of her & her gorgeous boyfriend Blake Shelton singing "Home" during the rodeo concert, I will forever be devoted to you. :)
