Blind Item Reveals - Kindness

March 5, 2008

#2 This former B list singer and entertainer is aging now, but still has that dynamic, outrageous personality that made him such a star then and now. He lives off his past, but with that smile and famous name he has no problems getting gigs. Over the weekend, our singer, who is confined to a wheelchair now, came into a restaurant with a group of people, and had just ordered when he was recognized. For the next hour he signed autographs, posed for photos and handed out photos of himself while his food just lay there untouched. Someone asked him if they should let him eat and he said that his fans were much more important and that he could always heat up the food in the microwave.

Little Richard

  3. I remember Little richard being guessed originally but no one knew he was in a wheelchair. what a class act and I hope the wheelchair is due to a temp situation like knee surgery or something and not long term.

    Thanks for the reveal EL!

  5. What's wrong with him?

He was the Paula of the 3 judges on that Celebrity Duet show (yes, I watched, lame I know). He was incoherent.

  12. Adrian, I was going to ask you to send your email address to EL so I could send you a formal apology but I wasn't sure you'd be willing to do that. So...I'm hoping you'll check the reveals and come across this.

I just wanted to say that I was a complete bitch and I truly am sorry! I don't know why I made such a nasty comment. I rarely comment on this site, although I read it daily.

I knew I was going to get some backlash so I went back to the link today and read through ALL of the comments to accept my punishment. I didn't realize you were giving most of the money away to charity until after I read your response to blooter and then I felt incredibly bad.

I have helped numerous charities myself over the years. If I had known that's where the funds were going, I would have made more of an effort to help you out as much as possible. I think the contest is over now so I can't vote for you or I would and also make sure everyone I know helped you out too.

Anyways, I don't know why I said what I said. Bad day maybe? Whatever the reason, it can never excuse my behavior. I'm glad people called me out because it made me realize how rude I was. That's not the kind of person I want to be.

I don't deserve your forgiveness and I don't expect it. I just wanted to say that I'm so, so, so sorry. And that I hope you have a safe and speedy recovery.

Okay, I missed the conflict but that's a pretty nice public apology. Well done =)

And . . . had no idea Little Richard was a big hearted type. Nice surprise and hooray for kindness =)

  14. That's awesome...some artists just know how to appreciate the people that support them...

  15. He has always seemed like such a sweet person. Anyone seen that insurance commercial with him. For some reason that commercial always makes me laugh a little. The Joan Rivers one is clever as well.

  16. hasn't little richard always been a little incoherent? that's one of the great things about him!
    love him to death.

  17. It makes me happy to hear that Little Richard is a good guy, but how is he B list and why would he be considered an "entertainer" in addition to a singer? I honestly don't know anyone who doesn't know who Little Richard is and isn't familiar with one of his songs. If anyone has any suggestions as to why he would be called an entertainer as well as a singer I would love to hear them - sure he was in a few movies but he almost always played himself & played his songs in them.

  18. el hombre-

I think Little Richard was on the Hollywood Squares or some other celebrity show for a number of years. And he has been a talk show staple for decades.

There might be a lot of ppl who know LR more by his appearances on TV than his music.

  19. Butterfly -
as one of the people who called you out, I just want to say it's very big of you to apologize like that. Well done.

Adrian seems to have a big heart, so I'm sure she'll forgive you.

Please stay out of lurkdom and post more. It's fun guessing - even if (like me), your guesses are mostly wrong. ;-)

  22. Reveal some scandalous BI's already!

It's cool of Little Richard to do that, but I want some juicy stuff!

  23. Butterfly, I was just directed to this post, so I thought I would respond. Normally I am a very private person, however, some of this info will clear up why I worked so hard--sometimes 6 hours a day on the contest.
After being bedridden for 18 months, my husband's mother passed away from MS, lesving 3 kids--8, 7, & 3. They didn't have much money, & from about the age of 10 my husband was responsible for watching his brothers, doing laundry, & making dinner. When I met my husband in college, he was so overwhelmed with loans, he didn''t have money for a winter coat in Massachussetts! I bought him a ski jacket our 1st holiday dating.
Since he missed the whole mothering experience, we decided I would stay home with the kids, & give them everything he missed--baking ccokies, being involved in school, etc.
I didn't want to be 1 of those moms who spend my days at the gym, having lucnch, & getting my nails done, but instead try to be as involved in my community & supporting many charities. I want my kids to remember be that way, not like my own mother who is so mean -spirited she wouldn't offer a starving person a crust of bread. I am raisng my kids to do the same--my 14 year old gives up weekends to work with people with disabilities & children with autism. When she turned 13, she twinned with an Ethiopian girl, & we funded supplies & food for her classroom. When my 11 year old is of age, he will do the same.
This contest was a fun way to do something with my kids, & show them that we don't have to spend the money on ourselves, but rather use it to do good in the world.
Am I doing a better job of raising my kids than Kathy Hilton & Dina Lohan?? I certainly hope so!!
I never thought this would receive such flack. Ent did a very nice thing by posting it. I didn't ask. Part of the contest was to get it out on the internet, & I was able to get it out on sites as far away as the UK. Other people who I had asked to vote for me told me that I should post it on their forums, so I didn't think it would get as much backlash as it did. If you don't like girl scouts, don't beat up & insult them, just don't buy the cookies!!
That is why I did this, & I am sorry that people chose to react the way they did to this.
Nontheless, I did meet extremely nice people, like yourself, which is something to say.

  24. @ el Hombre:

um, have you ever SEEN a Little Richard show?

the man doesn't just sing - he sets that stage on fire! Jerry Lee Lewis had nothing on Little Richard when it came to making a spectacle of himself while attached to a piano...

If you watched him perform, Woooo - you were ENTERTAINED! :D

  25. little richard is ENTERTAINMENT! he's a fire on stage!
