OK, this one could get confusing, and so I may need to make things more clear at a later point.
This involves two actresses and one actor as well as a dude. Not a dude as in Big Lebowski dude, but just a guy. He actually does things, but no one will know what he has done, so it is safe to call him a dude.
So, actor #1 who is a well known B list television star on a hit network drama was dating this major award winning B list actress (#2) who has been as successful in television as she has in films. They were dating for about a year, and things were going really well which made a nice change from her previous relationship which the world never stopped talking about. Anyway, she thought things were going well until her boyfriend hooked up with this B list actress (#3) who used to be A and is quickly dropping to C. This B list actress like someone last week is known for one role, and one role only. No matter what she does it will be this one role everyone remembers. #3 is also married which kind of complicates things. #2 got out when she heard about #1 and #3. #1 and #3 have kept their little thing going despite the marriage that #3 is in.

I like writermomma's guess of Debra Messing for #3 - She was A-List TV since Will&G was on for 8 years, she's married to a screenwriter. which fits with - no one will know what he did, but he "actually does things." While The Starter Wife was popular, it's the only notable thing she's done since W&G.
Jennifer Garner has done enough movies where while she's probably still b-list, but she has a broad enough base that she's not known for one role (13 going on 30 made a lot of money from what I remember).
Keri Russell also has gotten a lot of press in the last year where she's flung off Felicity. (Waitress and August Rush, neither huge box office hits, but she got a LOT of notice for Waitress)
I have to agree about switching to a different platform. I don't know if it's possible, but I would support a change.

Just throwing out ideas for what constitutes such a relationship Jen A an Brad yes; everyone got over the original Bennifer; Michelle and Heath I think will be such a relationship - but too soon for her; Hugh Grant and Devine Brown; Princess Di; really hard not many of them; Monica and Bill; just thought perhaps Winona and Johnny any suggestions just for this type of relationship? I don't think Tatum is known as sucessful on TV so she may be out of the running. If major award winning could be one emmy or one golden globe then that opens up the prospect enormously.
Overnight I thought of Whoopi, that Ted Danson thing is always cming up. She talks on The View of having a guy but as never mentioned his name. Does anyone know who he is and therefore if he is in a TV drama?

# 2 is Jennifer Aniston - the award-winning actress who has had successes in TV and film with the notorious relationship people are still talking about
#3 is Debra Messing - the actress who is only known for one role (Grace from Will & Grace) and will always only be known for that one role no matter what she does
That's not a bad guess, Janele... My only problem is that most "reports" only had Jason and Jennifer dating for a few weeks (at the end of 2007/early 2008) - and Jennifer's camp even denied that! ...There's just no way that J.A. could date ANYBODY for a YEAR without people/the media knowing about it, so I just don't think she's involved in this BI. (Besides, if Ent ranks Eliza Dushku as "B-list," then Jennifer is definitely be "A-list.")

So are you saying if Whoopi is going out with a guy on a TV drama it could be her? I think itis easier to twist JA into it. I really think that in view of her pap hounding over the past few yesrs (as opposed to her pap smears) she would now hide a romance through the courtship/wedding/births and divorce. So if she went out with Jason Lewis sounds right as she has had the most 'world talked about' romance on the planet. Debra Messing fits been married to somene she has been with for about 17 years and you get real bored after 17 years. So JA, JL, DM and whoever she is married to.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't major award winning and as successful in film as she was in television indicate that if she won awards they would be for both television and film??? JA and JL did not date for a year and JL is virtually unknown to masses.

Also for #3 I think Julia Roberts is totally wellk-known as the Pretty Woman now matter what, even with that Erin Brokovich Oscar win. Another person who could be described as A list falling to C list is Marisa Tomei, forever known only for the My Cousin Vinny role that got her an Oscar. Don't think she's married though.

Don't know that Jenna Elfman was ever A list at her TV height, but she will always be Dharma.

Convinced now that it isn't JA I did some checking and Mary Louise Parker and Jeffery Dean Morgan fit the blind. They dated for about 6 months broke up reconciled and are rumoured to still be together. She has a golden globe and is equally successful in film and TV. He does have quite a few movies coming out though. Her romance with Billy Cruddup will never be forgotten particularly as she has the child of that union. Didn;t she also recently adopt? That's the sort of thing you do when a relationship turns to shit.

ReplyDeleteDefinitely Jeffrey Dean Morgan, poor Mary-Louise Parker and Lisa Kudrow. Lisa Kudrow = once definitely A for Friends, now has practically fallen off the face of the earth, will always and forever be known as Phoebe, is married to a "dude" (an advertising executive) AND starred in TWO films with JDM in the last couple years (PS I Love You and Kabluey). She fits it all.
ReplyDelete"Guesser:" EXECELLENT guess!! I gave up on the Jeffrey Dean Morgan/Mary-Louise Parker angle after realizing that Hilary Swank hadn't actually married her current "dude"/agent/boyfriend. (Hilary starred in "PS I Love you," too, so she was my original guess for #3!) ... But Lisa Kudrow is a MUCH better guess!!
ReplyDeleteThe ONLY (possible) hitch is that Lisa Kudrow has been the most successful "Friend" film-careerwise - So it's hard to see her as a soon-to-be "C" actress... Realistically, though, she's ALWAYS gonna be "Phoebe!"
Also, there are long-standing rumors that her French-dude-banker hubby repeatedly hit on Jennifer and Courtney, which is why they didn't socialize as much with Lisa... So that marriage may be less than-ideal.
My love-triangle vote goes to: Jeffrey Dean Morgan/ Mary-Louise Parker/ Lisa Kudrow!

ReplyDeleteThe BI says "He actually does things, but no one will know what he has done". That fits Freddie because who really knows what he's done? I'm sure the occasional fan girl or two can tell you all about his career but I doubt the average person knows who he is even except in relation to his dad.
As for SMG ever being "A" list... she kind of was for a brief moment which is why she ditched Buffy to try and leap into the "big time" but she missed and is falling fast.
Plus there were old BIs about a star TV actress forcing her male co-stars to party with her to the point that it broke up one of them's marriage to a woman he'd moved out to Hollywood with him. It was decided that it was SMG & David Boreanaz because his situation fit and there were pictures of them out on the town.
I could totally see her doing this.

ReplyDeleteMary Louise Parker and Jeffrey Dean Morgan have officially called off their engagement, according to a "source" and the explanation of "differing lifestyles" is being offered up. I thought of this blind immediately when I saw it. I think they've likely been split for a while, and it only just leaked.
