Four For Friday

The great thing about today's four items is they all come from the same apartment building in New York.

#1 The summer this B list film actress who I love to rag on as of late was in Shakespeare in the Park, she lived in the building. The building is in Manhattan that was home to many celebs on a permanent basis or just while they were doing a stint in a play or something. So, our actress lived in the building that summer under an assumed name because she didn't want to be bothered. Fine...who cares. No one in the building really cared about famous people living there. There was no mail room at this building, but rather a concierge who gave out mail. All of the mail was in pigeon holes and generally, the concierge knew you and got your mail as you came to the desk. Sometimes there were a few people there so you had to wait. Fine...well, not fine for our actress. Once, while a person was getting their mail and chatting with the concierge for a moment, he got the mail and told the person they had a package in the back so he was going to get it. Before he went to get the package, our actress came up and asked for her stuff. She was told to wait since there was another person there ahead of her. She didn't like that at all. So she said, I can't wait and I want my stuff now. The concierge ignored her. She was so steamed and unfortunately, the person ahead of our actress in line had to ride in the elevator together. She had previously asked the security guard if she could have the elevator to herself. He promptly told her that that is not how things work in the building...but in a really nice way.

#2 This former A list child actor lived in the building. He actually got kicked out of the building. He was renting...spending about 14k a month on rent. That included a studio apt that was made into a gym. This is when he was married. They rescued a lot of animals but never took them out...they also smoked pot incessantly so the halls reeked. That's why they were asked to leave. He NEVER held the door for anyone. There was a fire in the building where his mom and siblings lived...well, they all moved in with him. There were siblings ALL over the place. They would run down the halls banging on the walls. It was annoying as hell to say the least.

#3 The Paper was also filmed in the building. Ron Howard was scouting out the location so everyone on the floor which was used for filming got to see him. A few days later, he was back and invited several residents to see what was going on. He was incredibly nice. One of the male stars was not friendly at all. Apparently he was being stalked at the time so he had an armed guard, who was really nice, but our actor was an ass. He refused to take the elevator if anyone was in it. He also refused to talk to ANYONE.

#4 Here's another ass. This involves an Academy Award winning actress/supporting actress. The building was set up such that there was a doorway that went from the elevator bank to the hall. One day a resident was going from the elevator to the hall and our actress was going the other way. Well, they didn't see each other and our actress bashed through the door and hit the resident in the head. Ok, mistake...fine...well...not so fine..our actress said "get out of my way." Yeah, not ok. So, the resident told her to watch it because the resident lived there etc etc and the resident thought that our actress was really rude. The woman with her apologized profusely. The resident told her there was NO reason for her to apologize because she didn't do anything. The resident pointed to our actress and said "She's the one who should be apologizing." The resident kept being ignored by our actress while the assistant just kept apologizing.

  1. Well 2. has to be Macauley Culkin obviously.

    ReplyDelete
  2. #1 Drew Barrymore?

    ReplyDelete
  3. I agree, Eddie. Definitely #2 is MaCauley.

    #3 Michael Keaton?

No clue with the others. But Ent's ragged on Eva Mendes a lot, so maybe her for #1?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Wow, things must be pretty slow, as I think these blinds are quite old.

Like Eddie said, #2 is Macauley Culkin.

For #3 (The Paper), which came out in 1994(!), it's as good as anyone's guess, as some of the male stars were: Robert Duvall, Michael Keaton, Randy Quaid, Jason Robards, Jason Alexander & Spalding Grey.

The actresses in the other two sound like real prizes.

    ReplyDelete
  5. #1 could be Jennifer Garner

    ReplyDelete
  6. Wasn't Drew revealed once as an actress that require everyone in her building call her by another name? That's what made me think of her.

    ReplyDelete
  7. And enty hasn't been very kind to Drew lately.

    agreed on Macauley.

I think Michael Keaton had a stalker, not sure if any of the others did.

Something tells me that with #1 "but in a really nice way" is a clue.

  9. I think the building may be the Ansonia where A. Jolie used to live.

Lauren Ambrose was in Shakespear in the Park last summer.

  11. C, I don't think EL has written about Lauren Ambrose, has he? And if so, was he negative towards her?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Anonymous12:36 PM

No, Twisted. You're right... I just checked the tags and he's written nothing about her.

  13. #1 - Natalie Portman?
    #2 - Macauley Culkin!

    ReplyDelete
  14. 1. not sure yet
    2. Macauley Culkin who lives in the Dandy at 704 Broadway
    3. Michael Keaton
4.Marisa Tomei, only Oscar winning actress in the cast.

    ReplyDelete
  15. C, thanks for checking. I looked earlier and couldn't find anything, but thought it's best to have two people do the search....just in case. ;-)

  16. pariss - the reveal with drew was the one where she lived in the same building as Maggie Gyllenhall & Peter Saarsgard (sp) - Ent went on about the actress of the couple (Maggie) who had a brother (Jake) who starred with (Heath) or something like that. It was revealed that Drew liked to be called Jane.

And twisted, as witnessed by blinds 2 & 3, I don't think any of these are current - I say we have to dig deeper. Ent has said in the past that for various reasons, items posted may not be current.

  17. #1-Natalie Portman
    #2-Macauley Culkin
    #3-Michael Keaton
    #4-Meryl Streep

  18. 1. Camryn Mannheim (she just seems bithcy)
    2. McCauley "I slept at Michael's" Caulkin
    3. Michael Keaton - I met him, he is an ass
    4. Maria Tomei

    ReplyDelete
  19. Is 4 directly involved with the movie mentioned in 3? So hard to keep track sometimes:)
Would make sense, though since it mentions 'resident' and actress.

I agree with Culkin for 2

    ReplyDelete
  20. Surfer, you're right, which makes it much more difficult. I wish if they weren't current, he would at least give us a time frame.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I agree with you twisty, it really would help, but I think Ent loves to play with us. Sometimes I imagine him sitting back, laughing hysterically at how far off base we are with some of our guesses. Of course, often, we're bang on. So I guess in the end, it kind of evens out.

    ReplyDelete
  22. After seeing Michael Keaton in "Pacific Heights", who'd be game enough to stalk him?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Surfer, with all the shit we give him, I guess we deserve it....lol.

Tikitaz...I forgot how freakishly scary Keaton was in that film. Time to rent it - thanks for the reminder.

    ReplyDelete
  24. drew wanted to be called CHRIS. in keeping with the ambiguous names, i guess.

did anyone hear the stellar and legendary story about macauley that was posted on craigslist a while back? it involved a valet parking attendant, white chocolate truffles, and his former wife.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Surfer - I think Drew called herself "Chris" not "Jane" and how seriously sad is it that I remember that...?

    ReplyDelete
  26. pinky/froufrou - when you're right, you're right. Thanks for setting me straight. Hey, at least I got part of that blind right. Right?

And pinky, it's not sad at all. It just shows that you're not a newbie (said in the best sense of the word!) here and knew what I was talking about. I miss the old-timers.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Pinky, it shows you're young, hon, and still have a good memory.

Frou Frou - do tell! I haven't heard that one.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 1 - Jennifer Garner. Neither Manheim, nor Portman are bitchy.
    2 - The Culkins.
    3 - Keaton.
4 - Don't know. Is this someone who won Oscars for both categories?

    ReplyDelete
  29. The problem with the Drew Barry guess and the old BV is that it was a 4 (3??) story WALK-UP building. Remember the playdate requested to leave the stroller on the 1st fl so as not to go up the stairs with it.

Not saying it's not her but that the BL is unrelated in this way.

#2 Macaulay Culkin (1st to mind)
#3 Michael Keaton (1st to mind)
#4 don't know but must have been a young person...well to me at least.

    ReplyDelete
  30. @frou frou

    no, do tell!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. #2 Obvs Mac
#3 Could be Robert Duvall...I believe he did have a stalker at one time (dunno why I think that) and he's an ass

  32. The building might be the Beresford at 81st and Central Park West--it's littered with celebs and is walking distance to Shakespeare in the Park. i first thought #4 was Tatum O'Neal who lived (and may still) there but she never won a best actress oscar.

    ReplyDelete
  33. tatum won best supporting actress for "paper moon"

    ReplyDelete
  34. hey amy - tatum o'neal is a great guess, and she did win an oscar for best supporting actress (paper moon).

    ReplyDelete
  35. I doubt Tatum would have an assitant running around with her. An assistant for what?

I do like the idea of someone young-even a child, perhaps. Just the way the woman scolded her, makes me think the person with her was an adult.

  37. Princess Pea--oh, I guess I read the entry wrong--I thought he meant the person won best actress AND supporting actress.

Thats right, I forgot about the building next to the History museum...hhhmmmm.

I think Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick live there or at least used to.

    ReplyDelete
  39. no way is it drew, my best friend lives in that building - no elevator, no doorman. sorry, but nice memories everyone.

i vote claire danes for #1; lives in soho, frequently ragged on by Ent.

    ReplyDelete
  40. amy - sometimes ent's writing can be very misleading, in that it can be taken to mean different things. I'm sure there are actresses who have won in both categories, although I can't think of any right now.

There are actresses who've won Best Actress more than once (Meryl, Hilary Swank). My personal thoughts are that in this case, he was just widening the pool, making it that much tougher for us to figure out.

  41. after researching the archives, i agree with TWIS #1.marisa tomei was in The Comedy of Errors(1992) i don't know if she was drunk or just a bitch.....both?

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think Kyra & Kevin live in the Dakota...actually he's been ragging on Natalie Portman a lot lately.

    ReplyDelete
  43. kelli - when did natalie portman do shakespeare in the park? i don't see her on the list of actresses.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Natalie Portman was in The Seagull in the park in 2001. Mike Nichols, who directed that production, lives in the Beresford.

    ReplyDelete
  45. amy - ty, i see it now.

  46. Excuse me, but what happened to full, frontal Friday?

    ReplyDelete
  47. sillyme - you're just as dirty as me. and i mean that in a good way. really.

    ReplyDelete
  48. #2 - not really a blind, must be Culkin

    On the rest, no idea.

Full frontal Fridays? Well, ENT cannot post those NSWF pics if he reads his own rules and bans Les Suckno comments, can he?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Full Frontal Saturday this week?

    ReplyDelete
  51. C.J. ~~
What rules has enty posted? I haven't seen any. And if he deletes comments it's because they're offensive to people who post here. You don't have to click on the full frontal pics if you don't want to see them. Anyways this is his blog so he can do whatever the fuck he wants.

    Sillyme ~~
Yeah, what nerve of him, huh? I'd ask for my membership money back if you feel he's slipping on the job you act like you hired him to do.

    How old are we?

    ReplyDelete
  52. It's not Drew I met her in west hollywood she is very down to earth

    ReplyDelete
  53. Waaaaaay back to Surfer's comment-Don't know if Randy Quaid has had a stalker-but it wouldn't surprise me if he "thought" he did..( now humming the TwilightZone theme )

    ReplyDelete
  54. You rock, Captiva Girl. I was looking forward to that all day (and night) yesterday). I live in place where Ent. is 3 hours earier.... So I kept checking, but no full frontal dudes! What a GD shame. I live for these types of posts.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Meant to say that I "live in a place...." And let me please go on the record as saying that Les Sucko is just so disgusting, he needs (b/c you know it's a he) to stop posting here. He's gross and he needs to go to some porn site where he can get his gross freak on, but he certainly shouldn't be here. I find him (and I think that I speak for all the cool chicks who post here) extremely offensive.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Also, I want to hear Frou Frou's story!

    ReplyDelete
  57. It wouldn't be Drew if he's talking about a b lister.
Go and reread his own standards folks. She's part of a franchise and people pay to see her in films.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Dahling beat me to it- I totally think the ass in #3 is Randy Quaid. That man is the definition of ass. He's done enough suing and being sued in the last couple of years alone to be fitted with an ass for a head.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Found your blog through your wonderful compliments on Miss N.

You remind me of my Entertainment Law class's Ent Lawyer. Hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  60. all time crappiest oscars ever(period)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Maybe I'm being too lenient, but I don't think someone who is facing stalker issues is automatically an ass just because he doesn't want to talk to anyone.

For all we know, his 'stalker' started out as fan or random person he happened to be nice to and it snowballed - I know that if I was afraid for my own safety, it would certainly change the way I interact with people...especially if I was afraid of it happening with more than one person.

(Heck, he might have been advised to not speak to anyone other than who he had to...)

Also, if its an actor from The Paper, that's dang near 15 years ago folks. People change - maybe they're not an ass NOW but were considered an ass THEN...

    ReplyDelete
  62. #2 item about the Culkins is the tip-off; it's a vanilla white-brick apt. building on West End Avenue in the 80's in Manhattan. I remember the fire.

#3 --Duvall used to live in a building on W. 86th & Broadway so he knows the neighborhood very well; I don't think he'd have been in a dull building like this, esp. back in the early '90's. Also, even if he did have a stalker (well, stalkers *are* crazy), I think he'd be chilly (that's his affect) but not downright rude. Sounds more like Keaton, if that's the only other choice.

    ReplyDelete
  63. The part about Culkin never holding the door for anyone just struck me hard.

My mother's coworker's daughter was killed in the fire caused by the Culkins, right before Christmas... They PROPPED OPEN a fire door and allowed it to spread so they could get out with no regard for the others in the building. I hope they all suffer.

    RIP Lily
