Four For Friday - With A Jackass
Full Frontal Friday will be later this afternoon. I appreciate everyone sending in photos so this should be a huge edition.
#1 So there is this sports bar at Times Square and it is Super Bowl Sunday. At this bar you had to buy tables in order to get in (for the game), but this regular person talked herself in anyway and hung out at the bar. There ended up being an empty table, so she approached the guy who "owned" it. (B- list film and television actor who used to be A list back in the late 70's early 1980's) She said from out of town and it's my birthday and I was wondering if I could buy the table from you if you're not using it. The guy looks over and says no problem, I don't need it but you'll have to arrange it at the bar. The woman says thank you so much, you're so great etc - can I tell the waitress your name? Guy stops and says You don't know who I am? She says no. He says just for that you can't have it, Fuck off...turns his back and that was that. No table. She ended up getting drunk at the bar and calling him an asshole every time he walked by to get to the bathroom.
#2 When the wives are out of town, things happen. So what happens when a married socialite who everyone knows gets drunk with a married B list film actress and model. Well turns out that they both liked the same guy they found at the bar in the hotel where they were getting drunk. Instead of fighting over him, they decided to share him for the entire night. And when I mean share, I mean share as in everyone gets naked and shares, not sharing like holding hands sharing.
#3 This foreign born A list actress in her own country and probably C list here in the US. English is not her first language and her only chance at an American film came as a result of her first language. The film was a blockbuster. She wanted to go to LA as she got lots of offers after that first film, but her boyfriend wouldn't let her. He has become so controlling and so jealous of her career that she is not allowed to own a cell phone, and he goes with her everywhere. No one understands why she stays with him, but she doesn't allow anyone to speak bad about him. Of course he has alienated most of her friends anyway.
#4 This new mom who happens to be a B+ film actress shouldn't be counting on the father for the support. He is already choosing from a group of actresses and models and deciding who will get to be with him next. Lets just hope they don't get pregnant also.
#3 has to be Paz Vega, known for speaking Spanish in the movie "Spanglish."

ReplyDeleteMan, if it weren't for the fact that Franke Potente and Tom Tywker broke up, I'd say it was them, as it would totally fit (she is A+ list in Germany, and did The Bourne Identity, but then fizzled in her US acting career). Though maybe she has a new boyfriend...?
ReplyDeletePaz Vega is a good guess, but Spanglish was not a summer blockbuster - it was released in the winter as an Oscar contender and flopped at the box office.
Err, scratch "summer" from my statement there, but nonetheless: Spanglish wasn't a blockbuster, and neither was Babel. Babel was a limited release film, and despite the Oscar kudos, did not reach a large audience, in terms of box office. I think we should be looking at the big vehicles by Universal, 20th Century Fox, WB, etc. Eva Green in Casino Royale came to mind, but she's done several American films, so I don't think she counts as Hollywood C-list.

Although I agree James Franco is prolly a dick, he wasn't famous for TV and Film back in the 70's and early 80's.

#3) I definitely thought of a Chinese actress as well. My first idea was Memoirs of a Geisha, which was probably a blockbuster, but the actresses are Chinese speaking Japanese. That would eliminate the "first language" clue.

Audrey Tautou is a great guess. She made a few movies in England but her only part in a real American movie was "The Da Vinci Code".

I thought that was one of the most notable things about Salma's baby with French businessman Francois-Henri Pinault: She doesn't want or need his money or support. She was just ready for a baby and had found a compatible partner!

ReplyDeleteShe was born in Oman to SCOTTISH parents. They speak ENGLISH in Scotland, so English would be her first language, wouldn't it? They moved to AUSTRALIA when she was 9 months old. They also speak English in Australia, the last time I checked.

(gossip: remember this is the guy that dumped angelina jolie 10 years ago! she was so heartbroken she started dating women and doing heroin. will never discuss the relationship with anyone)

ReplyDelete#4--i definitely think it's salma. ent uses the term "THE support," which i think he means as support in raising the baby, NOT financial. i'm sure that's all sewn up anyway, as he is mega-rich, and she's a new mogul in her own right.
ReplyDeletesalma WAS at a now-or-never age for having a bio child, and that couple has struck me as not so attached anyway. salma is and will be fine.
#3--my first thought was bai ling, because her only chance for an american movie was "Red Corner" with Richard Gere back in 1997 (?). (she only got the part because the most famous Chinese actress of the late 20th century, the AMAZING Gong Li, couldn't learn english in time).
of course, bai doesn't fit because she goes EVERYWHERE, and half-naked.
by the way, Gong Li was director Zhang Yimou's discovery/ ingenue/ mistress, she was the biggest star in China, and after they broke up, he found Ziyi Zhang (who looks like a younger version of Gong Li).
i don't think #3 could be Ziyi Zhang because ent says AMERICAN movie, and her big roles were all Chinese.
"Crouching Tiger" was not american. and somebody already mentioned that in "memoirs" she was playing the wrong ethnic group. i think ent would distinguish between her LANGUAGE getting her the role, instead of the fact that americans can't tell chinese people from japanese.
i don't want to believe it could be audrey tautou, but i never read nor saw "The da Vinci Code." was it imperative her character be French?
i think Chevy Chase is an excellent guess for the jackass of #1, if he is in NY. he is so well-known as a self-important fuck/head. as well as his famous meltdowns on his talk show when it began to fail. he displayed behavior then that showed he cannot handle being less than popular.

i'm pretty sure the bar he's referring to is the espn zone. its the only bar in the neighborhood where you'd have to pay for a table. i'll look and see if i can find any 70s-80s actors in their pictures from superbowl sunday.
