Lets Talk BAFTA's And Spies

With no Golden Globes, a scaled down Grammy Awards, no Academy Awards, and a cable only broadcast of the SAG Awards, what is an award show freak supposed to do? I know you want to see the best and worst dressed and want the special reports of which you have grown so accustomed. Our award spy actually was so depressed that she couldn't spill everything Sunday night, and wants to make sure you don't forget about her and that she promises that she will go make dirt if she has to at the next show she is at. (Probably the SAG Awards).

To get us through our withdrawals, I have found someone who is willing to do the same thing for you, the reader for the BAFTA's which are the British equivalent to the Academy Awards and will be awarded on February 10. The person who is willing to give us a report from the BAFTA's has never blogged before, so I am excited about the possibilities.

Because I want all of us to enjoy the BAFTA experience as much as possible, I think it is imperative that we at least know who the hell is nominated, and that the depressing photo I had yesterday of Kelly Osbourne was her reading the nominations. I don't think that has anything to do with the awards themselves, but rather the presenter herself so don't mistake her general grumpiness for a bad feeling about the awards, but rather the fact that she is always miserable and has to go dress up in a 1920's style dress today for Kate Moss' birthday tea party. And when I say tea, I mean crack. No, it really is a tea party. The crack comes later.

Here are the nominations. Wagering is allowed.

For the music category, I want Jonny Greenwood to win. He's the lead guitarist in Radiohead.

jax - ent must've gotten fired from his lawyer job, he's been more long-winded than usual this week. :)

    BAFTAS:
Expect Atonement to sweep most of the categories.

I'm surprised by the Kelly Macdonald nom for No Country -- I know she's a famed Brit actress, but I thought it was a weak role and a weak performance (aside from her final scene).

Rising star award better not go to Sienna. Here's hoping Ellen Page or Sam Riley (from Control).

  5. Yeah, pulling for Ellen Page, too. But mostly pulling for Marion and La Vie En Rose. Blogging from the show will be great! Thanks, Enty!

  7. Atonemnet is an awful movie. Don't waste your time with it if you haven't seen it.

  8. Uh, Ent, speaking of how you get your gossip, there's some gossip going 'round the law office that one of your client's has filed a grievance with the California State Bar Assoc. saying that you effectively have done nothing on his case and failed to show for a court hearing the other day. Someone else was saying that everyone is whispering about why your office door is shut all day and you emerge at day's end with your laptop looking bleary-eyed. And I heard from another guy at lunch that one of your other client's is onto you and is so mad he's posting vile messages (Les Suckno?). Also, do these people know that you are worker's comp attorney?

  9. I'm pissed that Sweeney Todd was all but ignored. It seems the producers didn't send out screeners, and the film comes out here (UK) next week. How can the eejits expect nominations?

I saw ST at the London prem last week, and met some of the cast. Not Johnny though :(

Is Kelley MacDonald a famed Brit actress? I don't know her.

Rooting for Viggo, but he wont get it.

  10. No Angelina. I guess the Brits are immune to her "charm."

ms_wonderland - Kelly MacDonald was Ewan MacGregor's teenage girlfriend in Trainspotting. She's done a ton of movies since.

littleoleme: I choose to disagree on Atonement. I found it to be a really good story well told, and beautifully shot.

  12. dnfromn - it was beyond predictable and ridiculous circumstances. Beautifully shot yes, but that's about it. Who knew a fountain has the same depth as a lake! And KK cannot act. James McAvoy can and it's too bad he was in this hogwash.

  13. Wasn't the pic of Kelly yesterday at the BRIT award nominations?

  14. I'm betting Atonement will clean up.
Personally I thought it was an amazing movie.

I'm also going to say I don't think Sienna Miller will get the rising star award. Some how I think all the English lovies will feel her star is declining. Fingers crossed.
