Funny How Things Work Out
Do you know what Clean Flix is? If you don't let me tell you. It is a chain of video stores that rent out sanitized films for your protection. They edit these things more than an airing on the Disney Channel. Anything remotely offensive is removed. Studios hate these people, but rarely do more than threaten them. One of the founders of the Clean Flix chain also controls the entire Flix Club market in Utah which is the largest in the country.
This founder's name is Daniel Thompson. Daniel was arrested has been arrested in Orem, Utah on charges of having sex with underaged girls. According to Orem police, Daniel Thompson also told the girls that his business was actually a cover for a pornography studio and asked them to participate in making a porn movie. The police report also said that they uncovered a "large quantity" of pornography at Thompson's business. According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Thompson told the arresting officers that he was unaware that the girls were not of legal age and that the porn movies were for his "personal use."
With all the deleted scenes he has from all the films he rented, you would think he could just splice all that together and have himself one big porn fiesta. Instead he found himself some girls and faces charges of statutory rape. Nice to be a hypocrite. Do they still have death by firing squad in Utah?
Oh wow.
ReplyDeleteBusted!
ReplyDeleteWonder if he's a Republican (you know, like Rep. Mark Foley, Sen. Larry Craig, Sen. David Vitter, Rep. Tom DeLay).
ReplyDeleteApologies in advance to nonperv Republicans.
He's in Utah. They will reward him. It's expected!
ReplyDeleteNo firing squad but i'd force him to listen to the Osmonds for a week, that'll learn him.
ReplyDeletebloody hell...
ReplyDeleteI hate fucking shit like this. It just reiterates how fucking looney people who want everything "pure and perfect" are.
ReplyDeleteJax, I bet his favorite group is the Osmonds. I think its a law in Utah. I hope he burns in Mormon hell.
God, I love stories like this. No doubt, he's a "devout" Mormon. Utah needs to secede from the U.S., along with Texas and Florida.
ReplyDeletehands down, the ROFL story of the month....aside from Giuliani dropping out of the race! Woo hoo! Lets hear it for those Morons- I mean, MorMONS....
ReplyDeleteEh, throw out the baby but leave the bathwater...so-to-speak. I like the topography of Utah, Florida and Texas. Its the creepies that need to go. I've met an equal amount of loonies in the north ;)
ReplyDeleteI always say, never say never, and his really bit him in the ass! Ha!
little miss smoke and mirrors I disagree with Texas and Florida. We Texans might like our guns and beer, but we're good folks all around. We believe your shit is your shit and if someone tries to take that shit you take matters into your own hands.
ReplyDeleteAnd you can't blame Florida...they tried to vote...it just didn't count. Like takeme2espana said, its the creepies that need to go!
Jeez. I was hoping it was a CD rental place where your movie came free of the snot, sputum and fingerprints that usually accompany every rental. Too bad.
ReplyDeleteThese Holy Rollers keep getting bad publicity LOL. And they still think in their weird minds what they did is not wrong.
ReplyDeleteWonder if they are related to Scientology people LOL.
The problem with pedophiles is that they cannot be cured. They ought to be gassed.
ReplyDelete..and not all Texans are the same, big state, big diversity. Every city is completely different from the other, if you ever get the chance, visit Austin-very hip town.
ReplyDeleteRight on Espana! (From a true Austinite!)
ReplyDeletewhat's really sad? i remember these guys. they weren't removing the "dirty" parts from movies. they would remove stuff like kurt russell in a speedo in "captain ron". wal mart loved these guys. the airlines use a lot of stuff (or used) that folks like this edited. thank you, but i'm the only one i want censoring for me and mine.
ReplyDeleteand the porn angle doesn't surprise me at all. not one bit.
"the mormons ARE from mars, dad, we've checked them out"

Tracee & Espana,
ReplyDeleteI visit Austin a couple of times a year. The first time I went down 6th St. and saw the musician only parking and/or loading zones at the Front door of the clubs I fell for Austin. I love it more with every visit. The Domain and the mega-distilled vodka are my new favorite finds from October.
Keep Austin Weird !
LiveUnder...next time come have frozen margs at the Oasis at sunset, they ring a bell and everyone applauds the majesty of the view. Then hang at Barton Springs :) or come for the one of our music festivals..good times! And yes...LOVE the Domain, reminds me of LA.
ReplyDeleteOR...Go to SoCo — south congress. Boheme all the way and don't forget to take a picture with Leslie, Austin's tranny mascot when you see herm on 6th or walking down Oltorf.
ReplyDeleteKAW Baybay!!
Thanks for the heads up on the places to go. I never have enough time to explore on my own. My work is tied to the music industry. When you fly into a place you have never been before you don't know how musician friendly a place will be even if you've heard its a music town. With some groups you worry about getting them to the gig in shape to perform. Everyone wants things to go well at SXSW.
ReplyDeleteWhen we went down 6th the first time we were jet-lagged and exhausted then we saw those signs that said vehicles other than musicians will be towed after 6:00P.M. We started laughing hysterically. You gotta love a place that basically says screw the handicapped and the expectant mothers. ;) We are gonna park your drunk, drugged out musicians and all that equipment at the front door so you don't lose them five minutes before the performance. ;)
Now I try to arrange to come to Austin at every opportunity. I love it. Everyone is so friendly. I missed SXSW in 2007. The singer I was planning to accompany had a little "issue" come up and couldn't make it. I had been really looking forward to this one. It had promised to be quite an adventure.
When I was there in October I was alone and had an entire afternoon and evening of free time. I got to walk down 6th for the first time and explore the shops. I had lunch in this wonderful old building, the Pecan something Cafe. I had a table where I could literally rest my arm on the window sill, watch the street began to come to life for the night and blog on CDAN at the same time. :) Then I went SHOPPING!
I wanted to go to SoCo but didn't have time. It is top of my list for the next visit along with sundown at the Oasis. I can't wait to meet Leslie.
For the record, Daniel Thompson, nor the other gentleman charged had any direct affiliation with CleanFlicks. A press release with more information should be up on CleanFlicks Web site later today.
