Kidnapped Mexican Singer Found Murdered
The lead singer of one of the more popular Mexican bands, K-PAZ DE LA SIERRA was found dead this morning after he had been kidnapped following a concert on Sunday night. Sergio Gomez was seized along with three other men after the band played a gig in the western state of Michoacan, Mexico.
The other hostages were later released, but authorities in the country have confirmed Gomez was tortured and strangled before his body was dumped on the outskirts of the city of Morelia on Monday.
Police say the motive for the attack is still unclear, but the area is known for regular outbursts of drug-related violence. K-Paz de la Sierra are one of the country's best known bands, playing the U.S. and Mexican Duranguense music scene.
I would put their level of popularity around a Maroon 5. Popular, but not like Kanye West or something. There are some that are speculating that the singer owed a great deal of money to the people who killed him, and that is why he was tortured first. Some Mexican bands in the past have been blackmailed into being drug mules for the cartels. The buses and personal possessions are rarely searched as they cross the border, and if the bands don't cooperate, then you see what happens.
Reason # 459 why i won't set foot in Mexico. I don't support corrupt countries who willingly let it happen. Shit at least other countries 'pretend' to care.

ReplyDeleteI never understood why drug lords kill people that owe them money. Isn't that just ensuring you'll NEVER get your money?
ReplyDeleteI haven't crossed the border since 9/11. I have never felt safe in Mexico and have known enough people who had personal scarey experiences down there.
ReplyDeleteI'll take my chances in Canada.
Two weeks after I was in the Mexican Riviera (almost 2 years ago) a Canadian couple was murdered there in their hotel room. The cleaning people "cleaned up" all the blood and evidence before the police could check it.
ReplyDeletethey are not that popular.. more like, uhm narco musicians, thats why. they get killed
ReplyDeletebrenda, they get killed because the dealers want others to know what will happen to them if they don't pay up. OR, there is some sort of emotional reason or pride or something ridiculous like that.
