Ten Years Have Passed
Tomorrow is the 10 year anniversary of the death of Michael Hutchence. As you probably know, Michael left behind a daughter named Tiger Lily who he had with Paula Yates. Paula died of a drug overdose in 2000. At that time, Bob Geldof took in Tiger Lily because he was Paula Yates' ex. Now, it seems as if Bob wants to make the relationship more permanent as he has notified Michael's family that he intends to adopt Tiger Lily and change her name to Geldof.
Michael's mother Tina has been allowed to see Tiger Lily for only four days in the past seven years despite many pleas which have fallen on very deaf ears. The Hutchence family feels they should be the ones adopting Tiger Lily. I disagree. They had their chance in 2000 to do something and chose not to. They have made half hearted attempts since then, but nothing else. I agree that Bob Geldof should allow visits, but there is no way that I would uproot a child from the only home they probably remember and put them with people they have never seen, and a country they don't remember.
The Hutchence family should be grateful to Bob Geldof and his family, and eternally thankful that he couldn't think of another name that begins with P or he may have changed Tiger Lily to Pussy Willow Geldof.
Also, if she stays with Bob Geldof she can at least see her half sisters...
ReplyDeleteIt's weird that she hasn't been to see her Grandma more though.
I can't believe its been 10 years.
ReplyDeleteI said something to my husband the other night when he was listening to some INXS need you tonight acoustic.
Micheal and his mum apparently had their own dramas. His father (according to media?) decided that Tiger would be better off with her sisters and didn't want to uproot her to Australia...
ReplyDeleteJust saying.
When Michael died, the people around him who supported the suicide theory cited Michael’s depression over the actions of Bob Geldoff. There were many stories at the time attesting to the fact that he was not the Saint Bob we all thought he was. He tormented Michael and Paula. I think in light of that, it would be completely disrespectful to take his name away from her given the history. I’m not saying she should be returned to Michael’s family but not allowing liberal visitation also shows callousness.
ReplyDeleteI'm not familiar with this story but just because Bob adopts Tiger Lily doesn't mean he has to change her last name, does it?
ReplyDeleteMiss x...technically, no. Usually, yes. I think more to the point, Michael will be turning over in his grave.
ReplyDeleteYeah, ENT, Bob Geldof's done such a great job with his own daughters, Peaches and Pixie, that he really deserves another one. Why not Tiger Lily, spawn of his ex-wife and the man she left him for? I'm sure Geldof has nothing but warm feelings for her. God, she's going to turn into a skan/slut/whore/junkie just like her half-sibs.
ReplyDeleteJust a few corrections. Her name is actually Heavenly Hirani Tiger Lily, Tiger Lily is her shortened name.
ReplyDeleteThere have been issues with Michael's mum and Sir Bob for a very long time. At the time of Paula's death, it was felt that it was best to leave the child in the same country and with a familiar family unit i.e. her step sisters. The Hutchence family was ok with that as it was what was best for the child instead of uprooting a small child to a whole another country away from what she is familiar with.
For Sir Bob to want to change her surname is down right rude and very insensitive. It seems that he is trying to make sure that there is no Hutchence part of her life any more.
I completely agree, noo.. It seems that 'Saint Bob' is still harbouring some ill feelings towards the late Michael, I think nothing would upset MH more than knowing that his daughter is carrying the name of the man he hated and who hated him. Tiger Lily should be taken away from him, do we need another Peaches/Pixie/whatever? Yes, Bob is a true father of the year...
ReplyDeletei love debutant drama
