Oprah Shuns Girl Who First Reported Abuse

Aviwe Mncwabe is the girl who first told her parents about the abuse that was occurring at OWLS. Since her reveal of the abuse at the hands of the matron, Oprah has refused to meet with Aviwe or any member of her family. The family's sole contact with Oprah was a two minute phone conversation Oprah had with Aviwe's mom.

While all the other girls at the school were praised for coming forward AFTER Aviwe came forward, Aviwe was shut out and not included and her family was barred from an October 28th meeting that Oprah had with all the other parents. While Oprah was passing out cell phones and her private number out like candy, Aviwe and her family didn't receive one.

Instead of protecting Aviwe and making sure that she is ok, Oprah instead has made it impossible for Aviwe to return to school, by the perception that everything would have been fine at the school if Aviwe and her family had not gone public with the abuse allegations. Aviwe and her family fear retribution not only from the staff members which were fired, but also the current staff members.

Although Oprah had promised to fly back to South Africa and meet with Aviwe and her family, that meeting never happened. I guess Oprah would have just preferred to deal with all this privately and sweep it under the rug. Just quietly fire the abusive staff members and let them get on with their lives at new schools with new students. Instead, she shuns the only girl who had the courage to actually speak out at the risk of her own well being. Instead of being thankful, Oprah is just concerned about being sued by the girl's family.

So this week while Oprah does her annual give the audience crazy free stuff for Christmas that costs a fortune, Aviwe's father has said that he will sell apples and oranges on the street to help pay for his daughter's education.

  1. i watched about 15 mins of Her fav things last night and turned the channel..totally digusted-she gave away all that shit to the audience that gave HER the highest ratings since she started.

Meanwhile Hurricane Katrina victims are still displaced and living in temporary trailers. I guess the tears fro those people were photo ops as well.

    Fuck you Oprah..FUCK YOU!

  2. What the heckola? As a person who has been very open about reporting abuse and making sure to support the victim, Okra Windbag is REALLY dropping the ball. Money may be able to get her "favorite things" but it sure as hell does not get her class. DO THE RIGHT THING OKRA!!

  3. After my Madonna rant yesterday, I will digress here, but safe to say I am not a fan of hers either.

    What Jax said!

  4. Hmmmmmm....I just googled Aviwe Mncwabe and came up with nothing. What exactly is the source for this?

Not that I don't believe Oprah isn't capable of being punitive, I'm sure she is....but after the Timmy/Shimmy - Kidney Infection/Lots of sex bullshit, EL isn't exactly sealing a reputation known for accuracy and truth.

  6. Seriously, Sister.

I agree, this is the first I've heard about her shunning any of the abuse victims. But if it's true, she is just a vile sell-out we all thought she was... c.u.n.t.

  10. I never drank the Queen Oprah koolaid. While she appears to do a lot of good and appears to help so many, she's just another celebrity in love with herself and lives a decadent lifestyle.

  11. I agree simone & melissa & jax. I have totally fallen off the Oprah train. I think she abuses her power as a celebrity. I think she needs to fall of her high horse.

  16. Hi Twisted Sister!

I could be wrong, but I think EL got her name wrong. I googled the words Aviwe and Oprah. The name that comes up is:

    Aviwe Ngubo

  17. If this is true then I despise Oprah too!

  18. The name of the girl's Aviwe Ngubo, not Mncwabe

  21. have any of you actually picked up her magazine? it's pretty bad. but I love that all items on her "favorite things" list have an average retail value of about $203,948,209,384

and sidenote: how does she find the time to read to pick books for her damn book club shit anyways? between building a wizarding school and picking out $800 HD camcorders, when does she even pick up a book?
