For those of you outside the NY Metropolitan area who felt slighted that you couldn't fork over money and meet Mariah Carey at the launch of her new perfume, you can feel less slighted now. Yes, she only thinks of us here on the west coasts to give us less than 24 hours notice of her appearance. She did give us a break on the price though. You only have to spend $90.50 for the chance to meet her at the Macy's in Glendale and get an autograph. In NY it cost almost $200 to be told no pictures and no touching. For $90.50 you get a 3.3 oz EDP parfum spray, a 6.8 oz body lotion, parfum replica complete with a dabber shaped like Mariah's head.

Mariah doesn't bother letting anyone know when she will show up at Macy's but wants you to be there at 10am. They are open until 9pm, and she will do her very best to be there at some point during the day. Hell, I'm sure none of us has anything better to do than wait at a Macy's for 11 hours two days before Thanksgiving.

You know the really sad thing is that if I didn't have work to go to, sitting around at a Macy's for 10 hours would really beat sitting in the basement for 10 hours. The problem is they probably wouldn't let me just sit in line. They would probably make me stand. Also, I would probably be forced to go alone and unless someone watched my place in line, I wouldn't be able to leave for a bathroom break. After a flask or two, the need to actually find a bathroom diminishes, and the idea of Depends begins to make a great deal more sense.
