Jessica Sierra Gets Probation

I know most of you are saying who the hell is Jessica Sierra. Jessica was a top ten finalist on American Idol in 2005 and has to me one of the most haunting mugshots I have seen in sometime. In her mugshot you don't see any of the smiling or smug looks you get from Paris or Nicole or Lindsay. Jessica's celebrity is not untouchable and you see it in this photo.

Top Ten on American Idol isn't going to get you much unless you work it really hard and had a really big hook. Otherwise, you just use it to sing the national anthem at a local minor league baseball game or get a free drink from a guy who wants to say he had sex with someone who was on television. Once you get off that tour, you just basically are abandoned and shown the door. It can be extremely hard on almost anyone who has been pampered for six months and now can't even get tickets to the show.

The 22-year-old singer pleaded no contest to felony charges of battery and cocaine possession. She was sentenced to 12 months of probation.

Jessica was arrested Apr. 29 after throwing a cocktail glass at a guy's head while at a bar, and was taken to jail where cocaine was found in her purse.

According to her attorney, Sierra has been undergoing drug and alcohol rehabilitation in California as part of a VH1 celebrity rehab reality show set to air next year. She will have to undergo random drug screening as part of her probation. Trying to extend your 15 minutes through a reality show about rehab is messed up, but so is not being able to afford the best treatment which is what this show offered. I think at the same time, producers of the show should have found regular people and paid for them to go through rehab as well. It would have been nice to compare, contrast and have them interact with celebrities. I use the term celebrity very loosely here.
