I could have been snarky when I heard that Lily Allen fired her management company Empire Management over their failure to break her into the US market. After all, many could say that Lily was primarily at fault because she could not get a visa to perform in the US because of an outstanding assault charge against the singer for an alleged attack on a paparazzi photographer. But, stars are stars and she reportedly blames the management firm for the mix-up.
I could also point out that many British artists fail to catch on in the US despite being bigger than bangers and mash in the UK. A short list would have to include Robbie Williams, Take That, Girls Aloud, and Westlife all of whom are the shit in the UK, but haven't done anything when they tried to break into the US market.
Instead Lily, I'm here to offer my services to you as your US based management representative. I think you have a great deal of talent and not just at drinking. So, if you are interested, just let me know, and for now I will make sure to post only the most flattering photos of you.
For now.
I;m conflicted about Lily.
ReplyDeleteShe seems borderline batshit crazy, but I LOVE her music.
I think its unfair that she got lumped together with the Winehouse because they have VERY DIFFERENT sounds.
I love her music, she is truly talented.
ReplyDeleteAmerica is so big it doens't need to import music and the few that have scored have been huge to begin with ie U2, ROlling Stones, Coldplay. I dont know how the fuck Keane got into the US market but Im sure it had something to do with friggin Grey's or some lame show.
Robbie Williams is one of the highest paid entertainmer sin the world and couldn't crack the market as EL has said. America like American music..shocking but that's patriotism for ya.
Also Lily dear when all they listen to is hip hop and bad Emo music there really isn't a genre you fit into for the Yanks.
Sad but true...aside from Nickleshit not many Canadian bands have taken off in the US lately either.
if it wasn't for celebrity gossip blogs i never would have heard of any of these people, Lilly Allen, Robbie Williams, Take That, Girls Aloud, and Westlife.
ReplyDeleteJust pointing out that Westlife aren't British, they're Irish.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Lily! I've even gotten my Brit-culture hating hubby hooked on her (he stole my disk!). I'm sad she hasn't made the US, but the visa issue is stupid - we give terrorist visas to train at flight schools but keep an entertainer out for going batshit on a pap? There's something beyond screwed in that concept.
ReplyDeleteSome...sadly so does 99% of America. Robbie Williams- The Ego has Landed is top drawer Brit popolicious my freind..get it and get it now.
ReplyDeleteYou may know his biggest song called Angels which he let Jessica Simpson murder a few years back.
It was absolute trash and 'sources' say it was Robbie's big fuck you to the states for not accepting him. LOL
Good luck Ent. Hey, you might even get a date out of it!
