John Edwards Cheating On Cancer Stricken Wife?

The National Enquirer is reporting that John Edwards recently broke off an affair he had been having with a woman for the past 18 months. The woman worked on Edwards' campaign and was with him as he traveled across the country.

All of this information comes from a friend of the woman. I say friend, but really at this point, I don;t think they are friends. The National Enquirer has seen e-mails from the "other woman" to the friend in which she did confess to the affair and the she was in love with John Edwards but it was difficult because of his wife and kids.

The friend added that "The affair started about 18 months ago, when they met at a bar, sparks flew immediately. "

She never expected it would turn sexual since John is married and is running for President. But it soon did — and she fell for him."

In one e-mail, the "other woman" wrote: "Last night and this a.m., he actually has amazed me. He is a great man. My heart is loud and my head is silenced."

Disclosed her friend: "She initially confided in a few of her closest pals that she was sleeping with 'a married man named John.' "It became clear the married man was John Edwards. They got together whenever they could, mostly at hotels where Edwards and his campaign staff stayed."

The woman later spelled it out in a phone call to her pal and talked openly about having an affair with Edwards. The friend says the woman told her that she "had a crush on John. One thing led to another, and they soon ended up in bed together. But she knew there was no way he was going to leave Elizabeth Edwards, a wife battling cancer."

Because of the situation with Elizabeth Edwards and the return of her cancer, John and the "other woman" decided to end it because they were feeling guilty.

Hey. It shouldn't take the return of his wife's cancer to make you feel guilty.

Well first of all I don't feel he should have been campaigning for President especially since his wife is going thru cancer.

Why do these men always say they love their wife but still end up having affairs.

  4. Hmmm...This story reminds me of a Democratic presidential nominee from the early 90s. He was from the South, and he was also hit by tabloid stories of his adulterous affair. He and his wife addressed the issue with 60 Minutes. What happened to him? Oh, yeah, he became president. Now his wife is running for president. What is with those Democratic Southern lawyers?

  10. Who next? Nelson Mandela?

My yenta radar says the Skank herself leaked this story. It's those patronizing phrases "because of the situation" and John and "the other woman" decided. Sounds like John's people kicked his ass and told her to dump her, and she's pissed because she thought she'd wait out the cancer and be the new trophy First Lady.

Which of the following bothers me more? That he had an affair while his wife is ill? That he selected this loser? That he allowed this woman so far into his life that she has publicly pronounced -- on his behalf -- his marriage a "situation"?

Why don't these guys just hire a pro? Clearly he doesn't want the responsibility of being President. Let's find someone who does, who has minimal management, problem-solving and staff selection skills.

Yeah don't fall for this dude and his lies. I don't want him to be Prez. I don't want anybody else to be Prez either.

  12. Why no names? If the Enquirer has hard evidence of who where and when (the emails) what's stopping them naming the mistress and the friend?

I could claim my anonymous friend was banging the president. Except of course we all know who's doing that.

He could not possibly be that fucking stupid to be having an affair while campaigning for president

I doubt it's true, but if it is, he's a schmendrick.
