Did John Mayer Put One Foot Out Of The Closet?

I read so much crap everyday that it starts to just blur in my mind. Drugs here, divorce here, crap from publicists over in the corner, and then there are bits and pieces of interviews that are the real gold. It's tough to find them though because you have to read through all the innocuous self-serving hyperbole in order to maybe find some nugget which is interesting. More often than not, there is no nugget and you have wasted another three minutes of your life.

Reading a recent interview with John Mayer is not really my idea of fun, but, I thought maybe he would talk smack about Pimpa so I read it. Well look what I found. I don't want any misunderstandings here, so I am going to just pull the section directly from a British interview I believe.

American rocker John Mayer is scared to show fans the real him - because he's worried they'll abandon him in droves. The 29-year-old singer has a wholesome reputation, but longs to let everyone see the hidden side of his personality. He says, "On the one hand, I want to mess up. To slip, you know? "But then the other part of me runs John Mayer Incorporated, the business, and I'm incredibly controlled about how people see me."

Now what on earth could cause John Mayer's mostly female fans to leave him in droves if they found out his secret. I guess it could be that he enjoyed when Pimpa watched him get it on with Jessica or that he likes hot wax dumped on his body while he wears lingerie around his apartment, but the way he describes the part about slipping up or the way people see him leads me to believe that maybe Mr. Mayer is testing the waters to see how people would take to him if he took more than just one step out of the closet.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but I can't figure out why his fans would abandon him in droves if they found out his secret. It's not like he's going to say, "I've got permanent bad breath. I hope my fans can support me."
