Zahara Needs Surgery

Zahara is one child who I am really glad that Brangelina adopted because if she hadn't been adopted by the pair, she very likely would now be dead. In case you don't remember, Zahara's mother died from AIDS and when Brangelina first got Zahara she was near death because she was suffering from malnutrition and dehydration.

Zahara's pediatrician informed Brangelina that Zahara is suffering from hip dysplasia which is hereditary disease that can cause crippling lameness and painful arthritis, and is commonly found in dogs. An operation followed by the wearing of a brace will usually cure the problem and Zahara would likely lead a normal and healthy life.

  1. Poor Zahara.I hope all goes well with her surgery. And she is lucky to have parents that can pay for it.

  2. Amen, Princess! I'm not a fan of Angelina, but thank God she has the money to care for Zahara.

  3. She is one lucky girl!
I cannot imagine how many children from her country die needlessly every day.
Maybe she will grow up to do great things in helping the population she left behind.

  5. Ditto twisted sister... I used to think AJ was pretty cool, but she's BUGGING me now.

But I'm glad little Zahara is with people that are willing to go through all this with her and have the means to pay for the best treatment possible. I'm hopeful that Angie's kids won't grow up to be demanding and acting all "entitled".

I know several people that have adopted kids with special needs/who that require special medical treatment. It's such a great thing to see the kids thrive and grow and bring such joy to those around them... and a bit humbling to think that if they hadn't been adopted, they would have probably not lived very long.

So, yeah- Angie- you are turning into a real pain, but kudos to you for our humanitarian work and for giving these kids a better life. Just stop messing up your own life, or you'll leave these kids with lots of money and no mommy. Trust me, they want the mommy more than the money.

  6. Good Karma all the way for little Z! I bet she's a hoot to hang out with - her facial expressions to the paps crack me up.

Hopefully they'll stay in one place for awhile and let her heal. At the very least her parents seem to love the snot out of her and can afford the best care there is.

  9. "...and is commonly found in dogs." WTF. So is cancer, but I've never seen anyone put that line in.

  11. WTF? It's congenital - meaning present @ birth, not hereditary. Reads like somebody wiki'd the term for the info & got the usual great info - on fricking dogs! Hope this writer does better research on the "true" blind items.

A lot of dogs DO get it, though. I know one little doggie that has to have a special brace.

I read that Zahara has ricketts, which can be hereditary or from malnutrition.

  17. Looking at this picture reminds me of how much better Angelina looks with some weight on her (yes, I remember she was pregnant) - her wrists don't look so brittle.

  18. I would just love to see her smile.

  19. I don't know how accurate this is. She was running all around Central Park with Brad just a few weeks ago and looks fine. I know Angie refuses to let her kids walk (there's always a kid glued to her hip to remind us she's the greatest mother ever).

If this IS true, it's something that you're supposed to take care of when they're really young. If she had it, I'd imagine Brad and Angie would have taken care of it already (surgery).

  20. I've seen lots of pictures of little Z standing on her little bow legs. I'm not surprised she would require surgery and braces for her legs. She seems like such a little spitfire. I think she's my favorite of Brangelina's kids.
