Mr. Big And Jennifer Hudson

That hookup is a possibility, now that Jennifer Hudson has been signed to play Louise, who is Carrie's (Sarah Jessica Parker) assistant in Sex and The City. The movie, which begins filming next week in NY was originally going to cast another pale, white chick in keeping with their say no to color campaign but realized that the best actress for the job was Jennifer and that if she hooked up with Mr. Big it would create lots and lots of buzz for the film.

Jennifer just finished filming Winged Creatures with Kate Beckinsale, Forrest Whitaker and Dakota Fanning, and her debut album is scheduled for release to coincide with the release of Sex and The City.

  1. Good for her!
That means she'll also sing a song that will be in the movie and on her album...... (like Beyonce did for Dreamgirls)

    wow.... she's one lucky chic.

She gets paid for this movie, gets paid for the song in the movie then releases her album at the same time the movie is released and gets maximum exposure for it.... well next year will be J-Hud year.

I'm not a "big" girl but its nice to see a black big girl do well.

  2. Is making her the white chick's assistant really a good nod to diversity? I'd prefer it if she was playing one of Carrie's publishers or something.

  3. Well thank god she's in the movie. Kinda of worried about her career. The girl cannot seem get her weave right lately. When a black woman's hair goes to sh*t it's the beginning of the end. Trust.

  4. I agree with Mooshki. I hate that shit, and I'm white!

  5. Mooshki you do have a point but if the story is to have her "overstep" Carrie by having a love affair with Mr. Big then it makes sense.

the publisher's in Sex & the City were never as prominent as the girls assistant's or close friends...

this is definately the token black in the movie but its better than nothing... especially them choosing a bigger girl instead of the thin, hot black "assistant" or "best friend to the white" girl.

its still to be seen how big the role will be for all we know she may be in less than 5 scenes LOL token black for diversity indeed!

    oh and I'm black.

  6. Mooshki! Word up!

I feel like it's 1998 and minorities are delegated for supporting roles only. You're telling me that after 4 years these bitches couldn't include one woman with a little color. I'm just sayin. Love the show though!

  7. "Sex and the City" was never the model of diversity. It was better than "Friends" or any Woody Allen Movie, but it never reflected the reality of New York City. This lack of diversity will be more obvious now that it's on the big screen and they need more than the 3 million viewers who watched it to make it a success.

I am happy for Jennifer because I, like many people, didn't think she would do she do much after the Oscar. So I will try not take away from the achievement of "getting the part" by dismissing it as a token role. I have too many friends who are struggling "minority" actresses who would kill for a part with such exposure. Clearly the folks at "Sex in the City" deem this as an "important part", because they cast an Academy Award winning actress in it. Somewhere Rachel Weisz is green with envy…

  8. Given big's past love interests, I can't imagine him going for her... it's a tad unbelievable.

    Just saying......
