Today's Blind Items

So on Wednesday I will reveal the kindness and jackass from last week. Tomorrow will be a return to the past so to speak as there will be a VERY long blind item reminiscent of the early days of the blog. It involves a very A list director, strippers, drugs, jail and Eastern Europe. What could make for a better Tuesday than that?

This A list film actress from a top ten grossing film this year is gorgeous but dumb as rocks and also dangerous. While in a foreign country promoting one of her most recent films, this actress encountered a man who was trying to be friendly but was having a hard time making himself understood because of the noise in the room and his poor English. Our actress turned to her publicist right as the noise level dropped and said,
"Who the hell is this asshole and how come he can't speak English?"

The publicist replied, "This is ______, and he is the President of this country."

The actress then said, "but how come he doesn't speak English? Doesn't everyone speak English?"

This actress earned over $15M in 2006 and will earn more than that this year. Great role model huh?

  1. Jessica Alba? Sounds like something she'd say. Not sure about top 10.

  2. If it's Cameron we can now attribute a new expression to her - going cam-mando ... risking execution in a foreign country for lifethreatening stupidity...

    ReplyDelete
  3. It's Cameron - she was probably promoting Shrek the Third overseas. She is the only one who made $15 million or more last year and was overseas in 2007 promoting a recent film.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Cameron Diaz would fit with the "Great role model huh?" as she used to be a model.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Cameron lived in Europe and modeled before becoming an actress though....I would think that she would have been exposed to language barriers:

Top Paided actresses 2006, according to Hollywood Reporter:

    Nicole Kidman: $16 million-$17 million
    Reese Witherspoon: $15 million
    Renee Zellweger: $15 million
    Drew Barrymore: $15 million
    Cameron Diaz: $15 million
    Halle Berry: $14 million
    Charlize Theron: $10 million
    Angelina Jolie: $10 million
    Kirsten Dunst: $8 million-$10 million
    Jennifer Aniston: $8 million

    These don't include endorsement deals.

  6. I like Cameron Diaz for this after she stupidity of the Mao statement bag in Peru!

  7. I think EL said top grossing film from THIS year..and earned over 15mil not in one film from what i read.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I agree w/ the Cameron Diaz guesses...how can I not?

Shrek #3 is currently the 4th top grossing movie of 07, right? And she earned $15M for film work in '06...but probably earned more on top of that for appearance fees and royalties and whatnot...

....wow, I knew she was an uneducated ditz, but I never knew she was so damn mean on top of everything! what does the "dangerous" descriptor refer to, anyone know?

  10. but does enty think cameron is "gorgeous" doesnt he think she's as disgusting as we do?
what does dangerous refer to? clue?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Okay....Cam is the favorite for this one, but just thought I would throw this one out there for those on the fence like me:

Renee was in Europe promoting Mrs. Potter recently, and giving an award...and who was at the ceremony? The Czech Prez:

    see the following article:

Pojar received his latest award from the hands of Hollywood star Renee Zellweger in the full grand hall of the Thermal Palace of Karlovy Vary.

Zellweger, 38, found fame for her roles in Bridget Jones's Diary (2001), Chicago (2002) and Cold Mountain (2003), for which she won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. She will introduce the screening of Miss Potter (2006) at Karlovy Vary on Saturday.

In the film Miss Potter, Zellweger plays the lead role of Beatrix Potter, a British writer and illustrator of children's books who lived at the turn of the 20th century. Zellweger was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance.

Czech President Vaclav Klaus and his wife Livia attended the ceremony, along with diplomats and members of the international jury including Variety magazine editor-in-chief Peter Bart, who chairs the main jury this year, along with film-makers, regional officials and other personalities.

Don't get the "Dangerous" tag though>>>

  12. So we need a list of the top ten grossing fims this year!!
then look at the actresses in them.
And then look at actresses earning OVER $15mill last year(2006).

    Anything else is moot.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Maybe dangerous just means she insults presidents that we should be really nice to. As in screwing with Foreign Affairs through sheer American Stupidity?

    ReplyDelete
  14. my first thought was kiki dunst .. she was just a wee bit dangerous in interview w/vampire .. and I can see her being totally trashed and asking stupid questions

    ReplyDelete
  15. Kiki was also in *Drop Dead Gorgeous*

    ReplyDelete
  16. Oh Cameron...I want to like you, and then you go and do something like this. I can overlook your odd choice in communist chic accessories, but not this.

Not sure how "dangerous" plays into it either.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Well, it can't be Renee, because she han't hit the top 10 this year...(3 movies coming out tho)...I also immediatly thought of Kiki, but since she wasn't at the 15 million mark, ruled her out. I just keep thinking back on an interview with Cameron where she talked about how "educating" it was traveling the world as a model at such a young age, and being exposed to different cultures.

Live Free or Die Hard $130.2M
    The Simpsons Movie $128.1M

    Source, Red tomatoes

  19. I think the clue GORGEOUS eliminates Kirsten Dunst and Renee Z, and possibly even Cameron Diaz

I would say that FOX chick from Transformers, but she is in no way A list

How about Katerine Heigle from Knocked Up

Jessica Biel was in Chuck and Larry. was that top 10?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Well....Megan Fox, Katherine Heigl, and Jessica Biel are nowhere near making 15 million, this year, and definatly not on the radar for 15 plus last year, so that rules them out. I have to say that the only one that fits is Cameron, but I just don't think it is her.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I took the "dangerous" thing literally (but that's because I suck at BIs!)The Shining Path in Peru were still active in 2003 & kidnapped 75 people, so I figured that it could be a backlash against the 70k people they killed in the 80's & 90's???

    ReplyDelete
  22. How about Keira Knightley? Forbes says she earned 9mil in 2006, does this include endorsements?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Can't be Renée Z. She's of German/Swiss descent, and she speaks German fluently. She would know better than most about not everyone speaking English.

Can't wait for the big BI tomorrow! I miss those!

  26. -slapping forehead-

It smells of Cameron. She has history of being dumb as a brick. I mean Sophia Coppola used her as the model for the airhead in Lost in Translation.

Renee hasn't been in a top grossing film this year. Check out "c's" handy list.

    The contenders are:

    Kiki
    Cam
    Keira

The other women in these movies, but I don't consider A-List is:

    Jessica Alba
    Megan Fox
    Janeane Garofolo
    Helen Bonham Carter

I think it's either Cam or Kiki. I think Americans are more forthcoming about people not speaking English. I don't see many British people saying comments like this.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Isn't Cameron half Cuban? I don't know if she spoke Spanish, but I'd discount her only if she grew up bi-culturally.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think it's Jessica Alba, she's in the Fantastic Four, she's gorgeous, she's full of herself and I wouldn't be surprised if she is dumb as a rock, but the "dangerous" thing is killing me. I know it's a clue....

    5. Harry Potter OoP
    6. 300
    7. Ratatouille
    8. Wild Hogs
    9. The Simpsons Movie
    10. Knocked Up.

  30. Do you think "dangerous" might apply to the country? Like Afghanistan or Colombia? As in this is a government that shoots you for being rude?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Damn I just hate it when the din dies down and I'm "overheard"...the radio thingy too!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I like Keira Knightly for this only because....cameron diaz is NOT gorgeous. The thing that connects to dangerous and model could be the role of Domino (but that is a stretch)...however, keira was named #71 on forbes most powerful list of celebrities (although they cap her pay at $9 but not sure if that is all inclusive) and cameron is not even on the list.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think Keira's the BI from the other day about doing the cocaine in her trailer in front of the amazed onlookers.

That pout looks suspiciously cokey to me.

I am no help with today's BI other than to say sometimes I really hate living in a world where this brainless beeyotch makes millions and those of us who study and work and bootstrap our way up the ladder can only sit here and smash our foreheads against the keyboard.

Thank fuck we have the example of DS as a real, smart person who HAPPENS to be an actress... otherwise I'd be stabbing myself in the eye right now.

This one needs to be revealed. OUT THE STUPIDS, Enty!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Could dangerous refer to the title of one of her movies?

And the $15M was earned in 2006, not 2007. Who were the top earners last year?

    ReplyDelete
  35. OK. You guys. So this BI has been annoying me all day, like a song I can't get outta my head....so I googled "Cameron Diaz" and "Role Model"

    and lookie what I found:

    http://www.people.com/people/gallery/0,,20042093_2,00.html

Yup. A pic of our gal Cam, under a heading titled "ROLE MODEL" when she was in Madrid for Shrek 3 promo in June. Maybe it Spanish president Zapatero presumed she knows Spanish because of her heritage and surname?

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm going to go off base and say it's a Brit, not American.

I can TOTALLY see this coming out of the mouth of Keira Knightly. She runs her mouth in interviews and ends up having to apologize or make corrections.

Close your eyes and think about her saying this. Not in a mean-spirited way, but in a kind of mouth spouting way.

She made a ton for Pirates. She's got projects lined up. I think it's her.

Cameron is just way too obvious a guess. She's older, been around the biz a lot longer and has travelled the world for years. Keira is still a young-un and hasn't had that world travel experience and could end up in this kind of situation. She easily could have got into this situation while doing the world tour for POC-3.

    Trust!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Consider this one solved. This is definitely Cameron.

See Helena's comment above. Also, I saw a photo of Cameron at a Shrek premiere overseas where she was meeting some president. The exact country escapes me now...but I'm trying to find the photo now.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Per IMDB, Cam can't speak Spanish (direct quote from her).

Kiki made $8 mil for Marie Antoinette last year. Her grandparents live in Hamburg so she may be bi-lingual. And she's cute, but gorgeous?

Kiera only made $5 mil for Pirates 3. Why is she on the list? She seems more level-headed than most actresses. Of course, in Hollywood it seems anyone is suspectible to drugs so I'm not counting her out for the Coke BI.

Well, that's the info I've managed to find so far.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Forgive me for the last post. I took several hours to compose that one and it was solved. Lesson learned. :)

Good job on this one, Christine and Helena!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I don't think it's Cameron. She's been travelling to remote countries for years with enviormental causes and would obviously know that everyone doesn't speak English.

    ReplyDelete
  41. This end of sentence makes me think that it cannot be CD:

"...will earn more than that this year."

What does she have planned, Shreck IV, V, and VI.

She can't pull any other money...by way of movies.

But, true to self, I have no other guess...midwest surfin'!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Just because you travel a lot doesn't mean that you're not an ignorant idiot who expects everybody to speak English. In fact, some of the worst people I've come across are ones who you thing would know better.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Well...I still think Cameron is too well traveled for this to be her, but in response to DeborisAnna, I am pretty sure Cameron joined the "20 Million" club with Shrek 3, and she just signed on for My Sister's Keeper, which is my FAVORITE book, and she has a few other projects in the works besides the Christmas Shrek Movie...so she is still very viable in pulling down the $$ for movies.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Linda, but can she carry it clear thru a withstanding box office?

Let's just hope she doesn't do her signature laugh at any inappropriate times...obviously I'm not a fan and I still don't think that she is pertinent to the last line quoted.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Renée Zellweger's Dad is Swiss but she does hardly speak any German at all, as opposed to what someone said before. She was on a few talkshows and wasn't able to do more than throw out a few words - which isn't what I'd call fluently. Even bruce Willis' German was better. Also: Miss Potter isn't a 2007 movie and I can't think of any blockbuster that'll be on top of this year's movie list.

Cameron and Shrek III are the ones that fit best IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I tink this person sounds quite young. SURELY nobody older is that damn ignorant?....

    ReplyDelete
  47. i really don't think it's cameron. like people said, she has traveled quite extensively and would know by now that everyone doesn't speak English. Also, it says she will make more money this year than last. Just because Keira made $5 million on ONE movie doesn't mean she didn't make $15 million total. It's not clear whether they are taking all income into account. Keira has been getting a lot of ad work lately....UM DID YOU SEE THE PIC YESTERDAY ON THIS BLOG...NOTICE THAT SHE IS THE NEW FACE OF CHANEL????

I am not saying it is definitely Keira because, obviously, I don't know, I just don't think it's definitely slam dunk Cameron....if for not anything else - Ive seen her in person and she is NOT gorgeous (even with TONS of makeup on)!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Linda, I loved My Sister's Keeper as well. Not my fave book, but definitely up there. I DO NOT want to see Cam in the movie. This is a very serious topic, what could she possibly bring to it? I was initially excited they'd be making a movie and then dissappointed b/c it will likely not be good if Cam's in it.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Doubt it's Keira. Have only ever heard Yanks assume everyone in the world speaks English (or, as it's often put, 'American')
