Katie Holmes In Talks To Be The New Wonder Woman

If you remember back to last week, I posted the above photo and some others of Katie Holmes arriving back in LA alone.

Why the sudden solo departure from Berlin? Katie headed home to have a secret meeting with her agents and producers about starring in the big-screen version of the popular ‘70s television series Wonder Woman. “Katie apparently didn’t want Tom to be a part of the discussions,” the source tells Star.

The movie version of Wonder Woman has been bouncing around Hollywood for years, but with the success of Spiderman, Transformers and other blockbusters based on cartoons and toys, it’s been moved to the front burner.

“The movie’s only at the discussion state, but Katie feels this role as a kick-ass superhero will put her back in the public eye,” the source says. “She wants to show her stuff, and she wants to prove that she can stand on her own two feet without Tom’s help.

Tom, at times, feels compelled to oversee Katie’s career, but Katie is bent on doing this alone. She actually scheduled the meeting when she knew Tom wasn’t going to be able to be there.”

Cruise has been filming the WWII themed Valkyrie in Berlin since July.

Cruise watchers immediately started whispering about why Katie didn’t fly back with her 16-month-old daughter, Suri. “It was a matter of give and take,” the source says. “Tom must have said, ‘Fine, go to L.A. for your meeting, but leave Suri with me.’ Katie really had no choice.”

The couple, who just completed a fun-filled vacation in St. Tropez, dining, swimming and Jet Skiing, still has issues, as most other couples do. “Tom is eager for Katie to have another child, and she wants to finish another movie first,” says a source.

  1. Katie as Wonder Woman. WORST. IDEA. EVER. Vacant eyed, passive women are not allowed to play superheroes. Can someone please start a petition, I haven't the time.

isn't it part of their contract that she gets x-number of film roles? Which studio is doing the movie - if it were United Artists, he wouldn't have needed to be at the meeting :-)

  5. NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Katie Holmes couldn't pull off playing a "reporter" in "Batman Begins" how in the hell is she even being considered for "Wonder Woman"?
I think you are onto something Cali Girl

I always thought Lauren Graham would be perfect for this role.

  7. Lauren Graham would be great as Wonder Woman!

Perhaps Katie should look into a Dawson's Creek reunion movie?

  11. The reason Superman (80's version) and Batman Begins worked so well was that Christopher Reeve and Christian Bale can ACT.

ACT being the operative word. If you make this film with Katie and a mediocre script you will be wasting money - money better spent if you stood on a street corner and gave it away. Oy.

  12. btw- there was no role of a reporter for Katie in Batman begins... I'm 99% sure she was a state prosecutor/ attorney

  13. So this is at least the second strike against the new Wonder Woman. The first being dropping Joss Whedon from the project after he'd completed a good outline... I think Joss Whedon has a great way of dealing with strong women. His take on Wonder Woman was partially about her not being able to realize how apart from others her strength made her, that her being unable to understand human weakness was her weakness.

In any event, it would have been interesting. Nothing is interesting if Katie Holmes is involves.

  14. Yeah, this is kinda disappointing. Just think of how many months of training she'd have to go through just to come close to being physically ready for the part. I mean seriously, Wonder Woman needs to be buffs; she's not just a Brick-house, she's a Concrete Storm-proof Brownstone with a fashionable facade. Katie Holmes is chicken-wire wrapped in limp noodles.

And then of course theres the wilting flower attitude. Even if they'd decided to go with, say, Carpenter, at least then they'd have had someone who can pull off arrogant.
