From tomorrow's National Enquirer. Mario Lopez is a great dancer - but he's a lousy landlord! The Dancing With the Stars contestant has been slapped with numerous citations by the Los Angeles Housing Department for violations at an apartment building he owns. The 33-year-old actor's problems began when he was served with an illegal construction notice last year for starting construction on the building without the required permits. Since then he's faced repeated Housing Department citations and inspections forcing him to comply with codes. In March the city ordered Lopez into its rent reduction program, forcing him to slash the rent for his tenants.
Have I seen this before? Hmmmmm.
think its the answer to a blind item but cant remember when that was.

ReplyDeleteThis former A-list actor has not had a hit move in almost a decade. It turns out he is not a very good landlord either. This slumlord/actor has several apartment complexes that his corporation owns. At least 50 tenants throughout his properties have filed suit against him in small claims court over the past two years. The reasons for the suit range from uninhabitable living conditions (no heat in the winter, no running water at time, and sewage backups are just a small list) to evictions without the proper notice. This slumlord has kept his identity a secret for the most part in these actions by hiding behind his corporate veil. Now as his tenants are catching on who is the man behind the living conditions, our slumlord is afraid of bad publicity which will derail the slightest chance he had to relive his former glory as an A lister.
ReplyDeleteHmm...was there another BI about a landlord? Because this one sure doesn't seem like Mario (was he ever in any movie?), and the building problems sound different too. Plus, I agree--no way Mario has ever been A-list (Come on, he did a show called "Pet Stars" on Animal Planet! He's lucky to be D-list now!)

ReplyDeleteI don't think that Ent is saying the blind item is Mario especially since he has been quite clear about what he considers to be A-list (he once provided working definitions of the categories). The blind item suggests that the former A-lister is older than Mario:

As far as I know, Mario never had a hit movie and therefore he cannot be the answer to the blind item. Perhaps Ent is just using the story to remind us of the older blind item about a slumlord actor.
Perhaps Mario is in partnership with the answer to the BI? Doesn't that happen quite often?
