Clive Davis Party - Part 2

I had to leave before things really got hot because I got a call from a client who had just hit someone with their car. It turned out to be minor, but of course, on the phone it was "OMG, I killed someone. I am going on tour in two weeks." Yes, just that fast. Compassion turns into worry about your own career and how it will affect ticket sales.

Met Christina Aguilera for the second or third time. She was very sweet, and her husband (well I still do not understand, but I will give it a rest) Last night, she made the first move. She was the one who came up to me and wanted to find out what parties I was going to. (I am sure so she could stay away from them, but it felt good inside to be asked) I actually felt like she was going to put Jordan and myself at the children's table and then go off and do her thing while we drank a Roy Rogers in the corner.

I know all you American Idol bloggers want to know everything about everyone that was there. So, let me taken them one by one and then you can discuss amongst yourselves.

Katharine McPhee - I actually feel like I know her better than any other Idol ever, simply because we always seem to be in the same place over the last few months. She seemed WAAAY more comfortable Saturday night than at any other time I have seen her in the past two months. I think she felt in her element to be with people with similar backgrounds. She wanted to be seen with other Idols, but to not just goof off. It is hard to describe. She also was like a star struck kid next to anyone who was bigger than her and was really kind of a goofy about it in a nice way. She and I know each other now so that poses other problems as well.
Chris Daughtry- Just having fun. Idol, no Idol, he just was there to have a good time and did.

Jennifer Hudson - Honestly, she seemed a bit aloof. Her performance was nice, but nothing that would blow you away for the rest of your life. Dreamgirls is a nice film and I think Jennifer will win the Oscar. However, it does not mean she is a movie star, but she is beginning to think she is.
Carrie Underwood- I had like four words with her. She seemed sweet and her performance was really good. You could tell she actually performs live often, unlike Ms. Hudson.

Taylor Hicks - He was there. He was gone.

  1. I do not watch American Idol but man, Chris Daughtry's voice is FANTASTIC! Had no idea he was on AI when I heard his latest. Jennifer Hudson better enjoy it now, because after she wins that Oscar I think all she's gonna hear is the wind in her ears.

And, EL, could you maybe take me and Hez as your dates next year? Thanks ever so....

Mngddess: " could you maybe take me and Hez as your dates next year" -- well played.

As I scanned the Wireimage photos of this party looking for someone that could be Ent, I noticed 2 things:
    1) Assica Simpson was apparently talking to Chad Kroeger from Nickelback for a while. If only the two of them could have a nice holiday together on the surface of the sun...

    2) Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters was there. {fans self} I might have got a little Tara Reidy myself with him in the house.

My thoughts exactly. Never met her, so I was starting to think it was my imagination. Seems like someone is starting to believe their press clippings... IMHO the performance in Dreamgirls did not blow me away, and I do not think she is oscar worthy, even though it seems like she will get it anyway. There was no acting craft or technique. Her "look" got her that role, plus she gives a decent rendition of that song, nothing more. I thought the Academy awards was about agknowledging actors for their talent, plus technique/craft; not pulling people off the streets who "look" like the character and giving them awards to do so. To say she is oscar worthy is to say she is on the level of Al Pacino, Dustin Hoffman, Meryl Streep ... the list goes on. I think somewhere along the line, the Academy forgot this. Not to mention that Martin Scorcese (hope I'm spelling it correctly) has never won an oscar, but Jennifer "American Idol contestant" Hudson will??? Please stop the madness.
    That's all.

  4. Hez, please don't even think about getting "Tara Reidy". You might catch some disease thru osmosis.

And are you posting on the message board? I can't seem to get on the damn thing.

    Off to work out...

I'm not surprised. Katharine McPhee seems really sweet and goofy and Chris Daughtry seems like a good guy as well.As for Taylor Hicks, I don't know what to think of your post about him, EL. when you say, "He was there. He was gone" do you mean he didn't stay very long or that no one cared that he was there?

I am glad to know I am not the only one beginning to think Ms. Hudson is starting to get pretty full of herself. She has said some pretty arrogant things in the last few interviews and appearances. Amazing how little time it takes some people to puff up.

Jennifer Hudson will have to look far and wide to find another part. I think she is a one-hit wonder.

It's funny to me how whenever someone rises to the top there will always be people there to try and tear them down. Jennifer has never appeared aloof to me or the many people in the "industry" who have met her. Aloofness to one may be just getting confortable with what has been thrust upon her so suddenly. This girl constantly smiles and graciously thanks everyone whenever she is in the prescence of people applauding her. Leave her be and stop hating on her because she is successful.
