Today of all days, we need to talk about a serious subject, PCT, Parental Candy Thievery. Now every kid accepts that parents are going to wet their beaks a little while checking the trick-or-treat candy for razor blades and poison. It's no different than getting cargo through customs, everyone wants a taste. However continuing over the next few days to sneak Smarties or steal handfuls of Three Musketeers is a sure sign of PCT. It's wrong and you have a problem. Your children stomped door-to-door begging for that candy, covering more ground in one night than you jog in a month. You can go to the store and buy your own candy anytime. Your children don't need to question their sanity as their hard earned candy stash seems to evaporate into the air. This Halloween, don't let Parental Candy Thievery ruin your family.

ReplyDeleteWhere I am now they don’t celebrate halloween(it’s called Book Day today) and they dress up as characters from novels they like... kinda missing the ol 🎃 today.
And yes Brayson-parents mind your thievin’ways lol

ReplyDeleteNope- I've earned the 10% of the candy haul. I bought the costumes (becuase I love when they change their minds), I'm hauling them around, going to every fall festival in town. PCT is a way of life.
ReplyDeleteBesides, we don't like the same candy so it's win/win.
Haha everybody, I only just found out about parents stealing candy this week and couldn't stop laughing. "Well if I bought a bag of candy for myself I'd have to eat the whole thing so I just have some of theirs while they're asleep," the rationalizations and denials were like listening to junkies ;)

ReplyDelete@Lisa, you have the best of both worlds! If they don’t like certain candy, let them give it to you right upfront, and pretend that you’re doing them a big favor by eating it. Then proceed with the next steps outlined by Brayson, a Snicker’s bar here, a Butterfinger there, you totally deserve this!!!

ReplyDeleteMy grandson went to school dressed as Willy Robertson. He has an official Duck Dynasty duck call that he brought. My daughter teaches at that school;she dressed up as Miss Kay, Willy's mom.
ReplyDeleteMany schools do book day at school. Too many “non celebrators “ willing to sue make schools do it that way. Honestly, you can find a book on anything nowadays so plenty off witches and Spider-Man and storm troopers. Our admin dressed up in Frozen theme with our principal being Elsa. They even brought a real horse. (We do an outside parade). I dressed up with my co teaching partner as a rock, she was a cacrus-we have a book about a lonely cactus who has no friends until he meets a lonely rock. Great day!
ReplyDeleteBrayson - caught me off guard. LOL! My partner bought a bag of chocolates in case we got any trick-or-treaters tonight (we're usually out of town). Last night I thought I'd slit open the bag quietly and grab a couple. It had already been opened by you know who!
