Last week I saw that tickets were still on sale for a show from this 80's Welsh band. They liked to consider themselves punk. I guess they were. Definitely 120 Minutes was their sweet spot but that was not really punk. Anyway, for the last 25 years or so they found a new way to pick up women. They were tired of playing shows and then only seeing the same groupies night after night getting back stage. They didn't trust their roadies to find attractive women, so they figured out a novel plan. Before they played a show they would have a meet and greet with everyone who was there at a certain time. Someone would keep track of all the woman found attractive and those women would be invited on stage at some point during the show and then shuttled off to backstage after a quick grind. The road manager would then ask if the women were interested in partying with the band backstage and in the bus and their hotel rooms. If the woman said yes, they got a backstage pass. If she said no, she was escorted back out front. The band still does it the same way now. They make it seem more high and mighty than a meet and greet, but it is the same long con they have been running for decades. It looks like they had one top 40 record in the US and shockingly enough they look to have had more success in the US rather than in their home country. They were part of the foundation of my history in music but they still are a bunch of pretentious f**ks to be doing the same thing on tour this year as they did back in the day. Come to think of it, they were pretentious back in the day too.

Police Know Who Killed Wife Of Righteous Brother Singer In 1976
More than four decades after the ex-wife of Righteous Brothers singer Bill Medley was raped and killed, officials announced Monday they used DNA to identify a suspect in the slaying: a man who was killed by police in 1982.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell said investigators believe Kenneth Eugene Troyer was responsible for the January 1976 slaying of Karen Klaas. The 32-year-old was attacked Jan. 30, 1976, as she returned to her home in the Hermosa Beach neighborhood, was sexually assaulted and strangled with her pantyhose. She never regained consciousness and died a few days later at the hospital. Investigators used a controversial DNA testing technique, known as familial DNA, to compare a sample of DNA that was collected at the crime scene and were able to identify a "first-degree relative" of Troyer, Sheriff's Capt. Steve Katz said.
Officials would not identify the relative and would only say the sample they used was in a state database of convicted felons. The technique, which has raised ethical issues in the forensics community, allows investigators to search law enforcement databases to identify likely relatives of the person who may have committed the crime. Law enforcement officials have argued the technique can provide investigators with valuable leads.
"Because of the familial DNA search, detectives were able to link Troyer's DNA and positively confirm his identity as the killer," McDonnell said Monday as he stood alongside Medley and more than a dozen other law enforcement officials. "Familial DNA search is the only reason Troyer was identified in this horrific crime."
Troyer, who had been suspected of committing several other sexual assaults in California, was shot and killed by police after escaping from a California prison in 1982, McDonnell said. As investigators began to hone in on him as a possible suspect last year, they were able to obtain a sample of his DNA that was held in the Orange County coroner's office and conclusively link him to Klaas' slaying, Katz said.
The arrest brought closure to a family that has struggled with questions for decades, Medley told reporters at a news conference Monday. "It's been something we've been hoping for and speculating about for 40 years and all of a sudden they say, `We got him and here's who did it,"' Medley said. "It's just nice to be able to close the book on this."

Ben Affleck says the decision for him to step down as the director for the Batman standalone movie for Warner Bros is mutual.
In a statement Monday, Affleck said it "has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require" and that he and the studio are looking for a new director.
"There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions," Affleck said in the statement. "Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give."
The studio in a statement said that it "fully supports" his decision and "remains committed to working with him to bring a standalone Batman picture to life."

Mischa Barton Hospitalized For Mental Evaluation
Mischa Barton was hospitalized yesterday after police were called to her home. Officers responded to multiple calls about a disturbance coming from her West Hollywood apartment.
Upon arriving at her residence, officers found the actress, 31, and one house guest. According to Sergeant Duncan of West Hollywood Sheriff’s Department, Barton was “fully clothed” and “speaking in coherent statements” before she willingly went to the hospital.
Wednesday night, Barton partied most of the night while celebrating her birthday. I'm guessing the extra drugs she took did something to her or affected her differently than she thought they would.
Robin Thicke Ordered To Stay Away From Son And Paula Pattton
Robin Thicke has been barred from seeing his son and his ex-wife Paula Patton after a judge signed a restraining order against him.
Paula said that Robin abused both her and their son. The judge sided with Patton during a hearing on Thursday, while officials at the Department of Children and Family Services continue their investigation into abuse allegations.
Robin and Paula appeared in court and both asked for temporary sole custody of Julian, but when presented with a domestic violence restraining order by Patton's lawyers, the judge approved the motion and ordered Thicke to stay away from his ex, his son, and any of Paula's family members until further notice.
Thicke's lawyers told the judge that DCFS is planning to close the abuse case against the singer due to "unfounded" allegations. His attorneys also insisted another case has been opened against Patton for "emotional abuse", with claims she is intentionally pitting Julian against his father.
Patton submitted the domestic violence restraining order request after a scheduled visit between her ex and Julian went awry. Robin has been accused of losing his temper and violently banging on the door after no one answered when he turned up at the home of Paula's mother to pick up his son for an authorized visit.

As soon as I typed Dangerous Game I was back in high school reading The Most Dangerous Game. Did you have to read that? Do people still have to read it? Has anyone seen the movie from back in the 30's? Anyway, this is not about some guy who fell off a boat and is hunted. That being said though, people who have crossed paths with this guy have been killed. Multiple people. So, you have this former A+ list rapper who owes his soul basically at this point to our enforcer who is an A+ lister himself. Barring a miracle, there is no way at this point our former A+ list rapper is ever going to pay off his debt to the enforcer. No chance. I don't care if he sells 20 million records and goes on tour for the next three years straight, it just won't happen. Until the day he dies, a large percentage of his income will go to the enforcer. So, much like a prisoner serving life without possibility of parole our former A+ lister has nothing to lose with his game. He is blackmailing the enforcer. Every little secret that could crush his empire, the former A+ lister is threatening to do. He already threw an opening salvo by leaking the real reason the enforcer's significant other received multiple nominations outside the usual process. The thing is, our former A+ lister also knows who was bumped to make room for the enforcer's significant other and is also threatening to tell that person. That would be a huge blowup. If done correctly, all of this could be front page stuff. Our former A+ lister wants to renegotiate his deal. If it doesn't come, you are going to see some jaw dropping things come out. Oh, and our former A+ lister has never shown a tendency to play by the rules. The thing is though, maybe the enforcer arranges a little accident for the former A+ lister. Make it look like a suicide. Would anyone not believe the scenario.

Shia LaBeouf was arrested early Thursday after he allegedly got into an altercation with another man outside a New York City museum where he has been chanting "He will not divide us" in front of a live camera since Donald Trump's inauguration.
Police said LaBeouf pulled the scarf of an unidentified 25-year-old man outside the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens, scratching his face in the process. They said he also pushed the man, who refused medical attention.
LaBeouf has spent the first few days of Trump's presidency swaying, dancing and repeating the phrase "He will not divide us" in front of a live camera outside the museum. The livestream is for a participatory public art project LaBeouf and two collaborators intend to have running 24 hours a day for the next four years.
The camera went live the morning of the inauguration, along with a website inviting the public to show up and participate. LeBeouf has been a frequent, though not constant presence.
Technically, the project from LaBeouf and his performance art partners isn't about opposition to Trump, LaBeouf told The Associated Press in an interview conducted on Monday in front of the livestream camera.
"We're anti-division out here. Everyone's invited," LaBeouf said. "I'm just saying, 'Be nice to each other.'"
It's not immediately known what led to the alleged altercation Thursday morning.
LaBeouf faces a misdemeanor assault charge.
Mary Tyler Moore Has Died
Mary Tyler Moore, the Emmy-winning sitcom star and Oscar-nominated actress known for her role in The Mary Tyler Moore Show and the 1980 movie Ordinary People, died on Wednesday in Connecticut. Moore's publicist confirmed the death to the Associated Press. She was 80. The cause of death was not immediately revealed.
Moore was born in 1936 in Brooklyn; she moved to Los Angeles at age eight. She started picking up minor television roles and landed a big break when she was cast in The Dick Van Dyke show as the wife of Van Dyke's Rob Petrie in 1961. In 1970, Moore starred in The Mary Tyler Moore Show, which ran until 1977. The show was a hit, pulling in 29 Emmy awards total during the course of its existence.

Virginia Woman And Her Two Kids Still Missing After A Date
The last time Kevin Lamping talked with his son, Lamping was on a Navy ship off the Florida coast and the 7-year-old was home watching a movie with his mom and baby sister in Virginia Beach.
Lamping said he heard his ex-wife, Monica Lamping, in the background telling their son to turn down the volume so they could hear each other.
At the end of the conversation, Lamping told Kai: “OK, Buddy, I’ll see you in a week.” That was on Saturday.
He hasn’t heard from his son or ex-wife since then.
Monica Lamping’s family reported her missing Sunday morning, and a search for the 29-year-old and her two children began shortly after a fire at her house. Police consider the incident “a missing/endangered persons case under suspicious circumstances” because of the time that has passed since they were last seen.
On Tuesday, police announced that the license plate registered to Monica Lamping’s 2002 Jeep Cherokee was captured on camera as it passed through the Downtown Tunnel. Her Jeep has not been located and it wasn’t clear whether it was her vehicle going through the tunnel. Police would not say which direction the vehicle was traveling or what time it occurred.
Kevin Lamping said he was told it went through the tunnel around 2 a.m. Sunday and was headed west, toward Portsmouth.
Lamping’s current wife, Moira, called him Sunday after firefighters came to their home with news that the house Monica Lamping had been renting on Sullivan Boulevard in Virginia Beach had caught fire early that morning.
The fire was reported about 3:30 a.m. When firefighters arrived, flames were shooting through the roof of the two-story house near Bayside High School.
The cause has not been determined. Investigators were looking into the possibility that a space heater started the blaze, but “it’s not definitive,” Fire Department spokesman Art Kohn said Tuesday.
A dog and a cat were found dead, but two cats survived. Monica Lamping, Kai, and his 9-month-old half sister, Oria, were nowhere to be found.
Kevin Lamping immediately called his ex-wife’s cellphone when he heard what happened.
“It went straight to voicemail and it’s been going to voicemail since then,” he said.
While it is not unusual for Monica Lamping to forget to charge her cellphone, it is very unusual for her not to stay in touch with her family, Kevin Lamping said.
“She talked to them almost daily,” he said. She also would not have left pets behind, he said.
The last time a neighbor saw Lamping was Thursday or Friday, when she said she saw Lamping putting a big plastic bag of things in the back of her Jeep.
“She only had one bag, but it was huge.”
Lamping’s roommate moved in about two months ago and was the owner of the dog, the neighbor said. She saw the roommate at the house Sunday.
According to Monica Lamping’s best friend, Anne Shell, Lamping went on a date Saturday afternoon with a man she had met recently at a gas station. Shell cared for her friend’s children while she went with her date to get lunch at a Chipotle restaurant. Monica Lamping arrived at Shell’s house around 5 p.m. to pick them up and hung out there for about a half-hour, Shell said.
Shell and Lamping exchanged text messages that night, with the last one being sent by the missing woman about 10:30 p.m., Shell said. Lamping texted that “Chad” was a mechanic and had agreed to fix her car, Shell said, adding that she assumed Chad was the name of the man she had gone out with.
Lamping asked Shell if she could drive her to Chad’s house in the morning to pick the car up. In their last text exchange, Shell asked Lamping if she thought it would be ready in the morning and her friend replied, “Yup, I think so.”
Police said they are looking for a man named Chad, but have no details about his appearance or where he lives.
Madonna Adopting Two More Kids From Malawi
Madonna has filed for the adoption of two more children from Malawi.
A government spokesman says the singer appeared before a High Court judge on Wednesday.
Spokesman Mlenga Mvula says it is now up to the court to decide whether to grant the adoption order. The singer will have to wait a week before hearing the decision on her application.
Madonna in 2008 adopted David Banda and a year later adopted Mercy James.
