Mr. X Blind Item - Old Hollywood

Despite giving some of the best performances of her career, the executives at this network hated this permanent A lister who has a permanent A list offspring. The network executives hated her and when a project turned out to not be the ratings bonanza they thought it would be, made her life miserable. They cut her budget and had writers create more and more skits that made her look awful. The reveled in destroying her.

Skits? On a network show? Besides SNL?
So, SNL. Who does Lorne Michaels hate that has a kid old enough to be A list?

If it's Judy she did quite the job destroying herself, didn't need help.

You only know SNL as a show where skits are done? Maybe you should watch more TV. There were DOZENS of shows.

It's Judy, Judy, Judy.

And the studio system pushed her downhill and just kept pushing her.

Judy Garland and the exec was James Aubrey aka the smiling cobra. Aubrey was also a corrupt sleaze who reportedly beat his girlfriends . He was eventually ousted from CBS

I can never understand why industry people (or people in general enjoy tormenting others). I've had this twice already and I'm practically a nobody.

The first time it happened, someone spread rumours that I was monosexual lesbian and the crew started to grope me non-stop and ask me stupid questions like, "what happened to you? Did a man hurt you?" And then they started changing my parts (to the point of making me super uncomfortable) in the script leading me to walking out on the film.

The second time around, I wouldn't flirt back with a 'teacher' when I was scammed into a pay-to-play programme (it was marketed as an acting class). And they strung me along (I rarely got direction, had to do my own choreographing) for about 8 weeks and in the last week, they took everything out (and I realised why they never looked after my role, because they were playing me).

I just don't get the cruelty, you know? Why would you do that to a person? It's no unnecessary...

Hollywood seemed on a mission to destroy her from early on. When they could not get Shirley Temple for the Wizard of Oz, studio head said ok, we have to go with the fat girl then. Nice, huh?

I read Mel Torme's book about the making of the Judy Garland show, and I do believe she did her part all too well in destroying herself and her show. The skits didn't work out well (I've been watching reruns of this old show on cable), true, but toward the end of the run, they just let her sing sing sing her heart out and dropped the forced merriment.
