Blind Items Revealed #24- Old Hollywood

January 4, 2016

Back in the days of Old Hollywood there were a lot of out of wedlock babies. Had to avoid scandal at all costs. This actress, who actually got her start entertaining men for money became a permanent A list television actress. An icon. After she married her actor husband they spent a lot of time apart making money and trying to make it big separately and together. There was a period about five years before our actress hit it big that she was working on Broadway while her husband was doing other work. Our actress had an affair with a man and became pregnant. She refused to see her husband for almost the entire pregnancy and he had no idea she gave birth to a girl. That girl was taken care of for the rest of her life by our actress. Our actress made personal contact a couple of times, but for the most part just made regular cash contributions to the “parents” of the child. The “parents” were old friends of the actress and she made sure they didn’t have to work the rest of their lives. All she wanted was for her daughter to be given the best life possible. The daughter died at a fairly young age and the money stopped. The granddaughter has been trying to establish she is in the family line to make sure her family is also taken care of.

Wow. She always seemed so in love with Desi despite his cheating ways.

The granddaughter needs to get a job. Is everybody a sponge these days?

I'm confused. So the daughter lived to be old enough to have a kid and now the kid is trying let everyone know who she is?

I read this story years ago, the woman who was allegedly Lucy's daughter died in a freak bike riding accident and the granddaughter has been trying to establish herself as a family heir for years now. I doubt the family will ever agree to a DNA test. Though Jerry Lews is son gave his DNA to a woman claiming to be his daughter and there was a DNA match connecting them as brother and sister. So anything is possible I guess. But Lucy had such a hard time conceiving I have my doubts it's true.

This falls in line with the rumor that Lucille Ball was once an escort in New York in her early years there.

Improbable. Rumors about Lucy as an escort relate to the period before she went to Hollywood. As I recall she left home as a teenager to do chorus work in NYC. She went west when she was 22 or so and worked steadily in movies. She married Desi in 1940, when she was 29, and continued to star in films for most of the next decade. She then went into television (1951) and her only Broadway credit was in 1960, Wildcat, when she was 49. It is true that Desi toured widely during the early years of the marriage (the TV show was an attempt to spend more time together). However Lucy did not spend the first five years of her marriage on Broadway. An already established star, albeit B level, she spent it making 15+ films.
