Old Hollywood Blind Item #1

From a reader

This one-time “It” girl and childhood friend of a future famous television sidekick , known for her studio feud and hookups with some of Hollywood’s most famous stars (both male and female) died in obscurity – but not poverty – thanks to the largesse of a well-known media mogul.

Media Mogul could be William S.Paley (founder of CBS)one of many whom she had an affair with

Or mogul was William Randolph Hearst....

Clara married a rancher/cowboy and was a housewife/mom. Her career & legacy was ruined by her assistant who stole money from her, that then Clara sued, and the assistant made up lies like Clara sleeping with the football team in one night.

Co-sign Louise. She worked as a shop girl later & was a mistress to I think Pabst, but can't locate it online now.

Louise Brooks was definitely involved with William Paley and he looked after her. She lived her old age in Rochester, NY.

She began to reinvent herself thanks to fans and her quick wit and film criticism. Too smart@$$ for Hollywood and Kansas.

I saw her when she was quite old in regional theater and everybody seems to have heard of her, not counting auto correct. :)

I co-sign this. Met her as a little girl at the George Eastman House at an old film event. My parents were well connected in the community - it was rumored she was involved long term and quietly with Mr. Wilson - that's the Xerox family.
