Mr. X Blind Item #6 - Old Hollywood

What A++ list actor and Oscar winner/nominee never slept with his frequent leading lady in the early 1940s (as is frequently reported), because he knew his wife would raise hell and immediately call every gossip columnist in town? After his wife's sudden death, the leading lady swooped in to try to comfort him in more ways than one, but with no success. They still remained great friends until the actor's death.

Fred and Ginger. Tracy and Hepburn were quietly living together while Tracy was still married. He never divorced, and indeed, I think his wife outlived him and banned Hepburn from Tracy's funeral.

Clearly Gable, Lombard and Lana Turner

I think Fred & Ginger.

Gable screwed anything & anyone. Owes his career to his first wife.

Tracy & Hepburn were famous for their affair when they were still staring in movies together, his wife was catholic & wouldn't divorce him.

My mom loved Fred. They say he was very in love with his wife, she was his first love, pursued her for years, was devasted when she died. He didn't marry again until decades later & she was a jockey, he was into horse riding.

Ginger would've completely swooped in after the death of his wife.

Ivee is correct on some parts about Tracy -- I think the only time that Hepburn and Louise Tracy met was when Spencer died and Louise said "I always thought you were a rumor." However, IIRC from Tracy's biography, she didn't ban Hepburn from the funeral -- Hepburn decided to not go because she would attract attention and she didn't want to embarrass the family. She saw Tracy the morning of the funeral and helped load his coffin into the hearse, followed it to the church, then turned off and went home.

And not sure if it's Fred and Ginger -- I seem to remember that they were cordial but not hot to trot.

The timing isn't right for Fred and Ginger, either. They starred in films together in the 30s, and she was married to someone else when Fred's wife died.
