Have him rap The Elephant Show theme then get back to me. Who is Arthur?

NOT IT! We actually had a unit that included Arthur, and by the time it was over, I never wanted to hear that aardvark again.

@K---good question....

Thank you, Seven, I wanted to know what kind of animal Arthur was. Aardvark??? Must have been a genetic mutation.

Is this a festival like the one JSierra was at? Drunk public sex going on somewhere?

I never got Arthur. Why were they animals. Why? They did people stuff. There was no need for them to be animals.
And I watched 20 seconds of that video and it was just noise (as my father would have said).

I thought Arthur was a bear of some kind...
I took the hit but I couldn't finish it :-\
Recorded in a crowd, some singer sings the theme song of a kid cartoon.
I would never have known if it hadn't been pointed out.
Kung Fun and Titties was better than this...

Kung Fu, android, not fun.( it wasn't)

Midday music festival and some Wyclef knock off starts the gentle strummings of a PBS theme.

Wyclef 2.0 sings about how everything is wonderful wonderful everyday everyday.

White girl down front seems to recognize the song, lifting her Caucasian limbs to the sky.

Wonderful wonderful everydaaaaay

Bromaine Lettuce in the back tears up thinking about a childhood lost in the streets of Whapackanetta and let's out a guttural call of the frat boy:

Waaaaahhhhwww!

Wonderful wonderful everydaaaay

Wyclef 2.0 tells the audience he loves when people sing along. Only Caucasian arm waver and Bro v Wade seem to know the tune.

Wonderful wonderful
Beeeelieeeve in yourself!!!

Cocoa! How's come you only show up here?

Most of the kids in the unit thought he was either a squirrel or a bear.

@Violet, anthropomorphism is a long-held tradition in fantasy literature. One of the working theories is that humanizing an animal gives kids (and adults) an easier access to understanding differences. Bears are scary, but who is scared of Yogi Bear? Pigs are dirty, but what about Miss Piggy? Big dogs are scary, but who is scared of Clifford the Big Red Dog?

One thing I did like about Arthur was the adult references (ala Pixar) and guest stars. Yo-yo Ma, Alex Trebek, Niel Gaiman (swoon!), Alan Cumming, Philip Seymore Hoffman among many.

But 7 you should be scared of bears and big red dogs shouldn't you? Christ that bloody dog used to freak me out. Gives me the shivers just remembering that weird show.

Thanks, Kristin. I just couldn't today.

Good question, Steamy. I don't watch enough tv to make an educated guess anywhere else. My brand of eye-glazing off-topic conversation should be doled out judiciously. Plus, I'm busy getting sh!t done. :-)))

Wait..It's not the theme song from Arthur the movie? Why is everyone talking about animals?

#soconfused!

Violet said...

Sherry I know. I got quite excited for a little Chistophef Cross rendition. Such disappointment.

Violet said...

And Christopher Cross too.

@Wiglet. You are truly stronger and more patient than I. My kid watches Arthur sometimes and I couldn't make it past 30 seconds.

I loved Wyclef's album with Mona Lisa on it. The shame

And I SWEAR Bruce Cockburn sings the "Franklin" theme song

According to wikipedia, that character in a series I never saw is an antropomorphic aardvark, which is an animal I didn't know it existed (I'm not a goddam zoologist, or an English linguist for that matter).

I loved Arthur and to be honest, kinda missed it when the wild bunch grew too old.

And middle cherub stole a DW doll from Dillards (he was just a baby! and I didn't find out until I loaded them into the car and it was raining)

Now postcards from Buster.. bleck

I bought a set of kids encyclopedias when I was like 11 or 12 and Aardvark was the first entry, Kermit. Probably the seed planted that began my lifelong love of all animals.

Now I have to youtube "Sailing" and a bunch of other gems! You bastards!

Also, this is actually really cool, if you hit the right age bracket.

I thought the same thing.
Luckily I read ahead before I disappointed myself with the lack of Dudley Moore tribute
