Blind Item #2
If there had to be one actor whom everyone hates working with, it'd be this guy. He's A+ list actor/singer on Broadway, B-list in movies/TV mostly in dramatic roles. Multiple Tony wins/nominations. This incident happened during rehearsals for what was considered to be his comeback show. The actor lambasted a cast member that was supposed to help him on with a waistcoat at the end of a scene -- she couldn't get to him because it was the first time they'd worked with the moving set. He stopped and berated her for 5 minutes: "What the f**k is the matter with you?" and "I'm not getting the support that I need" and "I expect you to be here with that damn coat", etc. The female cast member there and stared at him. When he stopped with his tirade, she yelled "Mr. _________, I need to clarify one thing: I'm only PLAYING your maid. Never speak to me that way again or I'll quit." The rest of the cast and crew cheered as she stomped off the stage, while the actor's face turned ashen white with horror.
The female cast member must be pretty high up to pull that line off and not get fired. Good for her calling him on his diva behavior.
ReplyDeleteIs this a Mr X BI?
Alfred Molina
ReplyDeleteAshen with horror.....nice turn of phrase, Enty.

ReplyDeleteWhat's Matthew Broderick up to?
ReplyDeleteNah I retract my guess, I'm wrong and suck at blinds unless I've really studied the DM hard the day before.....good night all! Bed time for me xoxo
ReplyDeleteAlan Cumming?
ReplyDelete@Becky - Im glad you retracted, I love Alfred - too sad if he some sort of bad reputation that I had no idea about!
ReplyDeletePlease don't let this be Jean Luc.
ReplyDeletePlease please please don't let this be Jean Luc.
Bacon, never, in a billion light years would this be jean-luc.
DeleteMandy Patinkin...
ReplyDeleteThat was who I was thinking of. I love his acting, but he doesn't half look grumpy a lot of the time / pretty much always.
DeleteThat's what I thought, too.
DeleteHe does have something coming up in May, and his difficult reputation is tolerated because he is so brilliant. And Homeland is def. up there.
DeleteCheyanne Jackson.
ReplyDeleteOoops, that would be Cheyenne Jackson. Beautiful and mean.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was Nathan Lane.
ReplyDelete@violet, I know me too! I really thought Matt Broderick but the mostly dramatic roles in movies didn't fit....
ReplyDeleteI've stayed up too late, delirium has kicked in!
Kevin Spacey?
ReplyDeleteNorbert Leo Butz?
ReplyDeleteNathan Lane
ReplyDeleteYou'd think a guy who is that hard to work with would never make it to the heights he has.
ReplyDeleteWhomever the female cast member is, she is awesome!
I've never heard anyone complain about working with Patinkin, he's also been in the business long enough to not act that way.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is Denis O'Hare
You may have nailed this one, Vera! Good guess!
DeleteI'm guessing Harvey Fierstein. He's in rehearsals right now for "They're All Dolled UP!" which also stars Mare Winningham. I could definitely see her speaking up to someone who spoke to her that way.
ReplyDeleteSir Patrick hasn't gone away in order to need a comeback, anyway. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the Fierstein guess with Winningham as the sassy co-star.
ReplyDeleteNow that she actually stood up to him, it'll really turn him on and they'll have a torrid affair.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Harvey Fierstein. He's about to open in "Casa Valentina", the first play he's written in 30 years, so, that's a comeback. It centers around heterosexual transvestites, and Mare Winningham has one of the (few) female roles. In the context of her role, she would indeed be helping these men dress, so everything in the blind points to Harvey. Shame he's got such a bad rep. He was the best thing in 'Mrs. Doubtfire.'
ReplyDeleteHarvey wrote his new play, but does not act in it. Not him.
ReplyDeleteI hope its not John Lithgow.
ReplyDeleteMandy is doing some kind of production and if this is him I will kill myself: http://www.post-gazette.com/ae/music-reviews/2014/04/06/Mandy-Patinkin-wows-the-crowd-at-Heinz-Hall/stories/201404050150
ReplyDeleteIt very well could be Denis O'Hare: He's doing Homer and the article mentions him wearing a "long overcoat"

Nada no no to Alfred (Coffee and Cigarretes)
ReplyDeleteGotta be Mandy Patinkin. Notoriously difficult to work with. A+ on Broadway for sure and does dramatic TV roles as well, though not as successfully. The other guesses - Broderick and Lane - don't do drama as much.
ReplyDeleteJohn Lithgow
ReplyDeleteHugh Jackman?
ReplyDeleteJackman's a sweetheart and always professional, it's not him.
ReplyDelete"If there had to be one actor whom everyone hates working with, it'd be this guy."
Mandy Patinkin, notorious bitch diva from hell.
It's got to be someone who hasn't done stage in a while perhaps doing a revival of "The Maids"? They would have forgotten how there are no divas on stage after being coddled in film. Any actress would stand up for themselves because that type of behavior isn't tolerated on stage. Maybe they kiss your ass in the movies but not on/off B'way.
ReplyDeleteOMG..I just went to search and noticed Peaches Geldof died!
Mandy Patinkin was my first thought. And second, third, fourth, etc.
ReplyDeleteA "waistcoat" is not a coat, it is a vest.
ReplyDeleteKelsey grammar is an ass and loves doing broadway. did jobs or boss that got canceled
ReplyDeletePatinkin got a very bad reputation as a diva after he burned the show runners on Chicago Hope, and then did the same on Criminal Minds. He's very gifted, but absolutely a diva.
ReplyDeleteSounds like Mandy. Def not Lane or Fierstien- both work mostly comedy on tv- not drama.
ReplyDeleteI just can't hear that guy's name without hearing "Mandy...you came and you gave without taking...."
ReplyDeleteI think it's Zach Braff in Bullets Over Broadway.
ReplyDeleteSounds like Mandy Patinkin. None of the other guys fit at all.
ReplyDeleteI'd say Nathan Lane with the play being "The Nance" which played on Broadway last year and he wore a waist coat and the set revolved and Mylinda Hall played "Rose the wardrobe mistress".
ReplyDeleteBUT, I don't think he's known on TV/film for his dramatic roles.
I thought this was common knowledge: Patinkin has and has always had a terrible reputation, on Broadway, definitely on TV (has been fired from several series) and probably the few films he's been in. Very combative, very outspoken and difficult, a huge dick. Yeah, he's a great singer and actor, but he's also a putz.
ReplyDeleteHahhhhvey!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not Denis O'Hare. He's extremely professional and has a heart of gold.
ReplyDeleteHere, Mandy is a girl's name. We named our beagle Mandy
