Josh Elliott Replaced By Amy Robach on Good Morning America
Josh Elliott is leaving Good Morning America effective as you read this. Amy Robach is the new news anchor on the morning program after the network refused to pay Josh what he thought he was worth. Apparently he was making a little over $1M annually and wanted a raise to $10M. ABC felt like they didn't need him that much so he is leaving the show for NBC Sports where he will kick himself everyday. Even though he has a month left on his contract ABC replaced him this morning and forever with Amy Robach who filled in for Robin Roberts during her six month absence from the show. I think this is a good move by ABC. Josh is popular but is he the reason people tune in and watch? The news anchors to me are fairly interchangeable. It is the hosts that get people to watch and I don't think Josh is worth $10M a year. At NBC Sports he is going to do some work for their Sunday night football show and the Olympics and Triple Crown racing, so basically he won't be nearly as visible as a daily M-F gig in front of millions of people. The good news is can sleep in.
He is a mega Douche and a bully to his co-workers.
ReplyDeleteUm, I tune in to watch Josh. He's hot. Sadface.
ReplyDeleteHey, he rolled the dice and list. It happens. Now he'll try something new. Its really the nature of the business.
ReplyDeleteMeant lost. And i did not know he was douchy. Also nature if business.
DeleteThat's a big gamble, did he release a keyhole video to raise his profile or something?
ReplyDeleteI liked Amy when she was the weekend Today anchor with Lester Holt. I think she'll do well on GMA.
ReplyDeleteJosh overestimated his worth to the show. Robin and George have some leverage. He didn't.
Who? ppsh
ReplyDeleteI'm with you @aemish
DeleteI bet NBC transitions him into Matt Lauer's spot on Today at some point.
ReplyDeletesee he heard Chelsea Handler ws getting paid $9 million by a teeny network and he wanted his from the big boy network. So NBC has soccer hockey and golf he can announce for and he doesn't have to get up at 3am anymore.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, guys! Cheapskates! Doesn't everyone get a 900 percent raise when their contracts are renewed?
ReplyDeleteMost anchors replaceable....and he just found out the hard way...if he tried for 2 or maybe 3 mill he could still be there...you don't try for 10x's your salary if don't don't have another offer from someone else that's close to that....another massive ego, who is now bitter & blaming everyone else for their f*ck ups
ReplyDeleteHe was getting a mil and he wanted ten? Yikes! If I asked for my salary to be increased tenfold my employer would say hasta la vista to me too!
ReplyDeleteWasn't Amy Robach one of Lauer's fuck buddies? Her, and the other girl that came over from MSNBC? Consuelo or something, the one he knocked up? Anyway, Amy quit or got fired from the Today Show and landed at ABC, and her husband divorced her. I really liked Amy until she showed me what a little tramp she is.
ReplyDeleteThis is why I watch CBS. Charlie Rose and Norah O'Donnell are great. And Gayle King doesn't make me stab by, which surprised me.
ReplyDeleteI thought Amy robauch. Was married to Andrew shue?
ReplyDeleteHow many kids does Lauer have now? 5? 3 with wife. 1 with Natalie morales and who is consuela.
DeleteHe got greedy, and thought (and hoped) he was worth more than he really was. I'm glad ABC didn't cave in to his demands. The fact they showed him the door immediately, speaks volumes about how they feel about him.
ReplyDeleteAnd sugarbread maker - yes, she's married to Andrew Shue.
Ok, maybe I've got it wrong about Amy. She was divorced from her 1st husband in '09, and I was under the impression it was because hubby found out about her banging Lauer. Others here probably know more about this so I'll just shut up.
ReplyDeleteABC needs another man on that set ASAP, though. I was already od'ing on estrogen this morning, and I think all the ladies are plotting a George S. makeover.
ReplyDeletewonder how much this guy will make at NBC sports, when I see someone making a ridiculous demand I wonder if they are doing it on purpose
ReplyDeleteI would care if he were being replaced by Amy Schumer
ReplyDeleteLooking in from the outside, had friends at GMA last summer and Josh was the only one that took pics with folks after the show.
ReplyDeleteSomething tells me the astronomical payday was his way of forcing ABC's hand. That was just totally unrealistic.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't even care about that b/c I'm gonna tell myself he left after the Nancy Grace eyeroll-er last week. Trying not to set off my network's flags, but she was going off about Oscar Pistorius looking at adult web sites. Josh looked like, "This fuckin' broad..."
Yes he shouldn't have to deal with the likes of Nancy Grace on NBC Sports.
DeleteI liked Josh. TBH the show really hasn't been the same since Sam left.
ReplyDeleteThe Chem just seemed to be off.
Amy is currently undergoing breast cancer treatment. I guess her taking over Josh's spot, means treatment is going well.
I was really shocked by how much I like George on the show. He is really funny.. who knew?!
Good riddance, money or not, he's terrible. His hesitant delivery of the news drove me crazy every morning. I thought Ted Baxter was reading the news.
ReplyDeleteGood riddance...He's obnoxious and thinks it's all about him. And he's not as hot as he thinks he is.
ReplyDelete@califblondy
ReplyDeleteHahahaha @Ted Baxter!
Extra is reporting he is going to Today but his contract says he can't appear on that show for 6 months, and that he got more money than he made at GMA.
ReplyDeleteWell I hope Amy's health is up to the challenge. I understand she was given the all-clear from her cancer ordeal, but she'd be best to take things easy for a while in any case. I'm sure her husband (Billy Campbell from Melrose Place is looking after her though).
ReplyDeleteFor me, it's an issue when the people reading the news become the news. There are more than enough autocue readers wiling to take the place of those who become greedy. Why would they up his $ from $1m to $10m ... when they could just pay someone $1m for that job, and get nine others onboard at $1m a pop to do nine other jobs? (or even 20 people onboard for $500k which is still insanely good money?). Crazy fellow probably didn't stop to think of that.
