That loan I talked about early last week or the week before that had not been paid back and was causing big issues between two A list rap heavyweights was settled really quietly late last week. They even did a nice little press release about how what was once all the A lister's stuff is now jointly owned with the A+ lister. So, the debt is cleared but our A lister is still going broke in a hurry. Apparently he spent $5M on his passion project with his assistant and lost every single penny of it. In one year.
Is this the Kanye Jay-Z thing?

ReplyDelete$5M may not make a dent in Kanye's fortune, per se, but he's blowing through his cash like it's never gonna stop. It's already slowed down significantly with his tour cancellations. His output vs. his intake is what should be considered. In the last year he did that ridiculous KK proposal, is doing the KK wedding, buying that ridiculous property and now buying a different piece of property, and evidently a failed "passion project." This is all on credit, mind you, and if his liquid assets can't keep up with his credit line, he's in trouble.

@sugar that's the thing though, she 'landed' him like 6 years ago. His connection public with her is what has brought his stock down. They will for sure get married against all of his teams wishes. He thinks that he's in some fairy take love story and everyone else sees it at a Greek tragedy. Kanyes drug use has increased 10 fold since going public. Even when he's exec producing he's become more like a curator of the sound and not active as he was a few years ago. She's going to ruin him.

As a fmr hardcore Ye stan, his music has steadily gotten worse over the years, lyrics, beats, sounds.
He may continue winning praise from billboard and rollingstone, but no one i know still takes him or his music seriously.
As HDime said, u can tell he's more offhands in the booth, the music sounds feels detached. And then as far as cultural impact, his music is less zeitgest than ever. he has really huge overhyped album releases, and then six mos later, we remember maybe 3 songs, Jay-Z's magna carta holy grail is still gettin major airplay.
Kanye West the artist is now a metaphor for Kanye West- the artiste. Everything he does, include this KKrelationship, is his art. The music is just a minor gimme, for the whole Side Show
