Today's Blind Items - Kindness

Since it is Thanksgiving week I thought that some of the blinds this week should be kindness items. I wish more blinds could be but there is just not enough good that I hear about from celebrities which would allow it. There is a picture in Random Photos today of Alicia Keys helping out in the Philippines and I think that is amazing especially considering how little other celebrities have done. What you don't hear enough about are celebrities who make the effort to not just donate money to a cause but to actually go out and make a difference somewhere. While I think it is great the celebrities go all over the world helping where they can I also love hearing about celebs who do things closer to home. One thing you may not have heard about is what this A list mostly movie actor has done over the past couple of years. I like to give him a hard time because he is a bit of a dunce and relies way too much on his good looks now rather than acting in his movies but he has a big heart and it is really showing through in some of the projects he works on.

The actor has paid for the construction of hundreds of homes that have been destroyed by weather when the families don't have insurance or the government won't pay this actor has stepped in and paid for the construction of about 250 homes. That is millions of dollars out of his own pocket with no attempt at getting any publicity for it. He works through an organization that handles everything and all of the families that suddenly found out they were getting a new house have no idea it is because of the Academy Award winner/nominee. He has spent millions of dollars to make sure people don't end up homeless through no fault of their own.

  1. I know Brad Pitt does this not sure about anyone else

  2. I think it is Brad, too.

  3. Dunce, hmmmm? Enty refers Daniel Craig d to one but he has never been nominated for an Oscar. Still looking...

  4. Sounds like Brad. Enty has commented on him being a bit dense in regards to what AJ does..

  5. Sheen or Pitt. Pitt has such a tie to New Orleans, I can imagine him helping out another locale hit with a natural disaster.

  6. If it is Pitt, I'm sure Angie would like the world to know.

    How about Depp?

  7. I was totally thinking James Franco... Brad Pitt has been on news programs talking about his charity work and this blind sounds like the work is not well known.

  8. I'm on the Pitt train. But whoever it turns out to be, good for them.

  9. I'd be shocked if its Franco

  10. Rebecca, it could still be Pitt and he learned from his NO experience to not be so publicly involved.

  12. @Rebecca.. assuming the construction costs are $100k per home that's $25 million.. does James Franco have that kind of disposable income?

  13. I see what you're saying MSGIRL, but I still think that Brad wouldn't do it without a little recognition.

  14. Brad Pitt works with a guy named Mike Holmes. Mike Holmes is a builder in Canada who gained notoriety from a reality show on HGTV amongst other channels, where he fixes botched up houses and he has been working with Pitt in New Orleans building new houses for several years now, like whole subdivisions rebuilt. Holmes is more the face/spokesdude and Pitt is the silent financial partner. Now Penn has definitely has been building homes in Haiti with his own organization but I think he discussed this in many interviews, in order I think to make sure people keep giving to organizations and make people aware there is a lot of work to do yet. I give Penn big kudos for that.

    1. @ Tina: okay, finally it makes sense! I knew Mike Holmes had the Make-it-Right organization and I couldn't understand why Brad Pitt was using the same name, I mean Mike Holmes probably says that ten times a show, so I couldn't see him copying Pitt. Makes more sense they would be partners

  15. Brad pitt and habitat for humanity? Thats the only thing that came to mind but it cant be bcs then why woukd public info be a blind?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Pitt. He seems like a total dunce. Have you seen him in interviews? Either dumb or stoned I guess...

    ReplyDelete
  17. Sounds like Pitt. By many accounts he's a decent, good hearted midwestener that can't even spell Mensa.

  18. First thought was Brad Pitt.

  19. why is this blind if it's about pitt? this is common knowledge. i think it's someone else. but NOT channing tatum----he just cannot be A list.

  20. I'm on the Brad train. Rumo has it that he helped out a LOT in Joplin after the huge tornado. He's from the Springfield area, I think.

  21. Probably Brad Pitt since I've heard he's done exactly this. The Brange has done a ton of good for New Orleans.

Sean Penn may be a complete douche, but he does devote himself to good causes now and then. Not that I will ever give him a pass for roughing up women because of that, but he does deserve a bit of credit for his relief efforts. I'm sure a lot more celebrities give to charity and donate their time, but they just don't publicize it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Not Penn only because it says relies on his good looks….

  23. I'm thinking not Brad because his help rebuilding homes after Hurricane Katrina was reported last year.

Despite Pitt, 48, telling Ellen that he's getting "far too much credit" for the work of his 'Make It Right' foundation, newly-released federal tax filings detail how the actor's group spent more than $16 million in 2010 alone, to help the area hardest-hit by the worst natural disaster in American history.

Specifically, the nonprofit spent $16,374,885 to achieve its lofty aim: build green and sustainable houses in the Lower 9th Ward, where the most damage occurred from Katrina.

  24. What about Matthew mcconaughey ??

    1. Kelly, thats what i was thinking!!!!!

  25. Given what he has done, Pitt is still very low key about it.

  26. Just a general FYI. When the tornado hit (and by hit I mean destroyed large sections of the town) in Tuscaloosa in 2011, Charlie sheen was the only celebrity that tried to raise money and even donated some of his own. He may be a general bag of crazy but he did help out and for that I am grateful.

  27. @nancer, Channing Tatum is an A list actor, but C list for talent. He has some popular films under his belt (Magic Mike, The Vow). He seems dumb, but can open a movie.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I thought Channing, but he's not been nommed.

    ReplyDelete
  29. @Karen: the blind is about a AA winner/nominee. If Tatum ever gets one of those I will eat my shoes.

  31. Will Smith is my guess. Acts a bit like a fool lately with his Scientology and Bieber crap, but the dude seems to have a good heart.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'd say Piit too except it's well known what he does for like New Orleans & rehousing efforts etc. It's not a blind item at all if it's him.

Got to be some other nice guy out there doing this too but on the quiet.

    ReplyDelete
  33. It has to be someone with A LOT of money. It does sound like Pitt, but I like Clooney and Sheen as guesses too.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Sean Penn is hideous.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Matthew mc conaughey has some praise for his acting this 2 last year

I guess it's brad pitt because of his work for Nola

    ReplyDelete
  36. Pitt got press for rebuilding homes after Katrina so I don't think it's him. What about hurricane sandy?

    ReplyDelete
  37. On what earth are both Channing Tatum and Brad Pitt considered A list? Something's totally skewed here.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I saw Matthew McConaughey on Oprah after Katrina. He had donated money for new housing then. A substantial amount, if I recall correctly, like a neighborhood.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I feel like this is BG where everyone gives the same answer so Imma say Clooney.

    ReplyDelete
  40. An A list AA nominated dunce who is attractive enough to rely on his looks?

    Bradley Cooper

    ReplyDelete
  41. @jane3113:
the problem with Cooper's guess is that Enty writes all time Cooper is one of worst Hollywood guys (cheater, wife beater, girlfriend abuser...) and if it's about Cooper,it's official 95% of CDAN blind items are fake or made-up

    ReplyDelete
  42. You know what.. I hope they never reveal this one. Once they do, can you imagine how many people would hound them?

I say let the good work continue and just let us have fun guessing.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I don't think this is Brad Pitt - his work in New Orleans has gotten a TON of publicity, most of their money comes from publicized fundraisers, and most of those houses are not free for the homeowners (they're actually kind of pricey). They've also built less than 100 houses, and this said this guy has quietly funded over 250.

    Whoever this is, they're awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  44. this is for sure brad pitt. when i was working in NO after katrina he was there and his foundation is still building homes there to this day

    ReplyDelete
  45. I say Clooney, Brads lost his good looks and doesn't rely on them anymore

    ReplyDelete
  46. Pitt. People know he's helped out in NOLA but I don't think they know the extent of it, nor the other places to which he's donated money and time.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think it is either Matthew M or Ben Affleck. They pretty much get the dunce treatment on CDAN and other publications. Plus they are the only two I can think of with enough income to bankroll this.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Tatum hasn't been AA nominated & I doubt he has that much money. Franco doesn't have that kind of money either.

Penn, Sheen & Renner don't have any "good looks" to rely on.

It has to be someone who's had significant financial success.
