Blind Item #10

A few years ago this highly anticipated network show was dropped after just a couple of weeks on the air. The show could have run a full season despite the horrific ratings but the female star of the show refused to have sex with the network person who could have left it alone. When she refused, the show was yanked.

  1. That Christina Ricci show...what's-it-called.

  2. I remember Heather Graham having a sitcom. ABC did an insane amount of advertising for it. It only lasted a few weeks.

  3. I wish it was that godawful Whitney show.

  4. Ricci's show was cancelled because the running costs were so high. Graham's show sounds a good guess.

  5. At least this female star had integrity...

  6. That Charlie's angels show with monks Kelly?

  7. Might be Studio 60. They had a 1 year committment but it was pulled anyway.

  8. I'm with the Heather Graham guess. The execs allegedly picked up the show without even reading a script and then Graham took most of the blame when it bombed.

  9. I was also thinking Studio 60.

  10. Studio 60 is a great guess, heather graham was recently outed as a casting couch lady...so doubt it was her.

  15. Was I the only one that liked reunion? It was on fox, after the OC I think. Not sure about it being highly anticipated... but it had chyler leigh and amanda righetti. Canceled after a few episodes

    1. I loved Reunion! I was sad when it got cancelled.

    2. So I went on IMDB after posting this and apparently it was a producer or showrunner who wanted it canceled and not the network! Crazy!! They also had some posts to sites where you can get all the episodes, even the ones that didnt air

    3. I loved that show!! Was very sad when it was cancelled. To me though, it seems like maybe the plot/mystery got too complicated or something and maybe they didnt know where to go with it. I hate when a show gets cancelled in the middle of the season.

  16. Wasn't there a reveal some days ago about Graham being the darling of the casting couch? Didn't believe that and think that this is much more likely. Go Heather!

  17. Heather's show lasted one week. The PLayboy Club lasted a few weeks, though that wasn't peddled as a one-star type of show. Alicia Silverstone also had Miss Match which was short lived.

  18. @count, I know, "Whitney" a dry piece of chicken that can barely be choked down. However, Chris D'elia is really talented, and I wish he'd find a more suitable vehicle to success. Watch him sing "Amazing Grace." ;)

  19. Minka Kelly. Charlie's Angels.

  20. My first thought was Wonder Woman with Adrianne Palicki.

  21. NBC Ben Silverman Network exec show: Bionic Woman starring Michelle Ryan or Katee Sackhoff

    ReplyDelete
  22. @Bella Wonder Woman never even made it to air, it was passed over after the pilot was shot not her.

@Don't Chris is going to be in an NBC midseason comedy produced by Bill Lawrence. So it might have a shot at being funny.

Hell even Whitney Cummings said on Howard Stern that Whitney didn't work and she wasn't sad it was canceled. It had some funny moments but mostly it was just too conventional as a sit com.

  23. I loved Reunion too, did they ever release the rest of the season on DVD or somewhere?

  24. That bitchy, campily awesome Kristin Chenowith/Leslie Bibb show set in Dallas.

  25. Pan-Am is the Ricci vehicle? (no pun intended) It was allegedly on 9/12 - 2/13, but seems to me that they only actually showed a few.

  26. Lone Star the show, Adrianne Palicki the female star. Got the best reviews of the new shows in the 2010-2011 season but was pulled after 2 episodes.

  27. GCB is a good guess, sharka.

  28. Studio 60's female star was an out lesbian so I kinda don't think it was her or that show.

  29. B. Profane (good advice, btw.)
That's Sarah Paulsen, but Amanda Peet was arguably as much the female lead.

  30. Bionic Women is a great guess.

  32. @ Ken

I'm pretty sure "Lone Star" had abysmal ratings, which is why it was pulled. I think it was the lowest rated show in its time slot (or of all the new shows) or something.

  33. The whole BI is BS.
A network executive would be fired if a show gets horrific ratings but gets aired during a whole season.

It sounds more like some dubious claim by an actress, like "My show could have been great, even if the initial ratings weren't that high, but I refused to sleep with the right executive and he canceled it on the spot."

    ReplyDelete
  34. What about Don't Trust the B? God I miss that show!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Sarah Paulson was the main romantic lead in Studio 60, so really the lead woman on the show. There wasn't a lead hetero woman on the show with a role big enough to justify cancelling the show on her account.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Bionic Woman lasted on air much longer than 2 weeks, I'd say it was at least 2 months before it was pulled. Not that show.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Studio 60 got an entire season. Pan Am and GCB each finished out the initial 13 episode run. I think this is a show that didn't even get 13 episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  38. What about the Chelsea Handler vodka show starring Laura Prepon? She'll clearly walk away from a good show (ONTB) so no it'd be easy to ditch that train wreck.

    ReplyDelete
  39. The Ex List, Elizabeth Reaser? Pulled after 4 eps. I don't really remember if it was highly anticipated or not though.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I liked Reunion, also.

Lone Star was cancelled b/c the reviews were bad. That's it.

    ReplyDelete
  41. charlies angles sucked ass and minka would have sucked anyone off to keep it on air. it got canceled due to low ratings,,, simple as that

    ReplyDelete
  42. How about that show about a female NJ or NY lawyer and she had big hair. It lasted only a few weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The Rosie Show and Harpo!

  45. Hollywood runs off of drugs, blowjobs and the casting couch.

If you don't want to play that game, get out of the industry.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Bionic Woman? The one that starred my beloved Michelle Ryan from EastEnders?

    ReplyDelete
  47. What about The Black Donnellys as the show? It was created by Paul Haggis of "Crash" fame and was promoted pretty heavily. Olivia Wilde would be the female star. They only aired a few episodes on tv and relegated the rest to online release.
