No "Friends" Reunion Ever

This week the internet has been buzzing. Well, maybe buzzing is the wrong word. Humming? Singing Smelly Cat? Yeah, the latter. Apparently there was some doctored up NBC press release or secret e-mail that seemed to indicate that the network which has trouble remaining relevant at any time of the day other than when Hoda and Kathie Lee get drunk every morning, was going to greenlight a Friends reunion season no matter the cost. Not going to happen. The co-creator of the show, Marta Kaufman who probably sleeps in a pile of hundred dollar bills on her bed named The Rachel said, "A reunion will never happen." And just like that, Ross gave his sad face.

They're just on a break.

Why would anyone think Jennifer Aniston would get on board? She's a serious movie actress, people!

Good.

Why can't NBC leave the 90s alone. No one wants to see these characters with their brood of children. By now Ross and Rachel have got at least ten.

This is probably a good thing.

@ethorne..I was thinking the same thing.

@ Lotta! LOLOLOLOL

I'm okay with this, plus I like seeing the 'friends' pop up on each others shows better.

I totally fell for this yesterday...and about three minutes later read that it wasn't true. I thought that it would maybe be one of those 10-episode seasons and that would be it. Probably for the best, but part of me wants to know what all the characters are doing now! It's like how I love watching A Very Brady Christmas every year.

They won't be there for you, When the ratings start to fall

I think it's for the best. I have never wondered what happened to any of these characters after the show was over.

One of THE lamest shows ever.

Im pretty sure the only ones who'd want to do this would be ones who need a career revival. I loved friends when it was on, but im not sure i want the memory ruined by a newer version...

I dont know how they would even spin a new show, unless it was about phoebes kids lol. now that could be interesting

@karen, I can tell you what happened

Ross and Rachel are on a break again after their third kid and he's already engaged to someone else

Phoebe now lives in a commune in Vermont

Joey is now making sex videos with failed reality stars

Monica and Chandler are getting divorced because who can put up with that controlling, know it all for too long

:)

I love Friends, but I'm also perfectly happy to not see a reunion.

@ Lotta Good one! On a break..you're good. I've used that excuse myself, ahem. Anyhow, The show was a while ago, it was a great cast, not offensive, can't they do a new version? Bring back the people that want to be involved, forget about the ones that don't. Or just revamp the series, don't name it friends, name it Pals, or Roommates, and do another show that's similar?

Can't say that I much care. I didn't care much for that show even when it was quite popular.

@anna - I just watched Courtney Cox's show for the first time. They are already doing another show that's similar. I swear that show was pitched as "Friends in their 40s"

The Voice is doing well in the rating, Enty. Even in the "demo." That said, it's pretty bleak for NBC overall.

I hate reunion shows and this one would be especially pathetic. Thank god the voice of reason prevailed for once in H'wd. Do something more original for Cripes sakes.

I just don't want NBC to cancel Parks and Recreation, because that show completes me.

I was watching a couple of Parks and Rec epis last night on OnDemand and NBC kept airing those "The More You Know" spots. God, I thought those public service announcement ads were so lame at age 7. I can't believe they still do these things. NBC does seem to be really out of touch.

The company seems to be hitting it out of the park with Bravo - they own that, right? And everybody raves about The Voice. But I always feels like these competitive reality shows are a flash in the pan. The network needs some shows with staying power. The Office should have ended when Steve Carrell left.

I HATE THIS SHOW! when i find reruns on TV I think "I'd rather be locked up in a windowless room in a straight jacket" then to sit here and watch 'Friends'

I loved Friends, but I'm pretty sure a "reunion season" would totally ruin it. Best leave well enough alone.

Five problems:
1) The production company won't be able to come up with 18 scripts - or even 1 really good one.
2) These folks won't want to admit they are failures and have to retreat back to TV.
3) None of them really need the money.
4) Do you realize they WERE getting paid about $1.5 million for 4 days work for 4 months out of the year? How much will they demand in 2014 dollars?
5) - and this is the big one - these folks don't really like each other very much.
Not going to happen.

Most vanilla tv serie ever, vastly overrated (try Coupling and enjoy the difference)

Coupling is great.

Never is a long time.
