Kevin Hart Arrested For DUI

It is not very often a celebrity, or any person for that matter gets arrested and admits to the crime, but Kevin Hart did. Not known for any kind of salacious gossip, Kevin was arrested over the weekend and charged with DUI after police pulled him over when he was traveling almost 100 m.p.h and almost hit a gas tanker. Now that would have been a mess. After Kevin was released from jail, he admitted that he had been drunk.

I hope they throw the book at him. He has a huge following among young guys, who are among the people most likely to drive drunk, get hurt, and hurt other people doing it. Fair enough that they make an example out of this guy. Hope he doesn't get Lindsay Lohan's judge.

Well, I'm glad that he admitted to it, but his license ought to be suspended regardless (at the very least). There's no excuse for driving drunk. I've always liked Kevin Hart so I'm very disappointed in him.

Hopefully he learns his lesson- almost wrecking into a gas tanker would be tragic- if that tanker was full, it would have atleast 9000 gallons of gas in it!

He deserves a suspended license, definitely. At least he didn't make up some ridiculous excuse ala Lilo. Something tells me that unlike Blohan, he will wise up and not make the same mistake again.

Sorry and I am NOT condoning drunk driving but let him get the same justice that all the drunk WHITE celebrities get when they pull this stunt and NOT admit to it, a slap on the wrist.

If he had done this in MN, pretty much nothing would happen to him. We have this DUI court thing, and you get bzillions of chances. My EX has 5 (which is why he's my EX).

You'd think they'd take into account the fact that he was truthful about his wrong doing. If I were a judge, I'd want to throw the book at Blohan for the fact that she consistently lies to everyone's face. I am still shocked she is not locked up after all the shit she's pulled.

@Montana Sorry to say I disagree with you. White celebrities should not be getting a slap on the wrist for drunk driving and neither should he.

It's classified as a misdemeanor dui. I don't know what that means in CA.
From Radar:
" Later, in a rather unusual move, Hart took to Twitter to admit his transgression, writing: “When the cop asked me to take the sobriety test I said ‘WHY WASTE OUR TIME … I’M DRUNK MAN.

“Drinking & driving is not a game or a laughing matter. People have lost lives because of stupid … this!,” he added, before ending with: “This is a wakeup call for me, I have to be smarter & last night I wasn’t … everything happens for a reason.”

Wow, interesting. He tweeted how stupid it was and, "On some real s*....drinking & driving is not a game or a laughing matter. People have lost lives because of stupid s* this!" You'd NEVER catch Lilo admitting to her stupidity, much less warning others how stupid it was. And she gets to go to Brazil and snort coke under tables as part of her sentence. Go team.

In Scandinavia, where I live, they have a great system for drunk driving fines. They do your blood alcohol level multiplied by your monthly income (or annual income/12), so that the fines really hurt, even if you're rich.

For example, a local football star drove with a blood level of 0.6, and he made 1.2 million a year or 100,000 a month, so his fine was 60,000.

Assuming Kevin Hart was, say, driving with a 1.0 blood alcohol level, and that he makes - a guesstimate - 6 million a year, his fine would be $500,000.

That's enough for even a rich comedian to notice.

@Montana.. we shall see if its celebrity or complection protection treatment he receives. At any rate, glad no one was injured.

@Nutty that would be awesome but the rich in the US, especially celebrities are great at hiding their income.

Trust me I work at a big accounting firm I know.

Agent**It said...

timebob, some of them EXCEL in money laundering as well as hiding income:)

Izzie said...

@Nutty, that's a great idea! I wish they could do it here. Unfortunately, like @timebob said, the rich here hide their money quite well. (or start their own Kartashian Church) Not only that, they use that money to hire lawyers who can find ways around pretty much anything. Lilo getting away with what's she getting away doesn't really surprise me considering some of her contacts.

I like Kevin Hart. He's genuinly funny and talented. Good on him for owning up. Now pay your debt and don't do it again!

@nutty, that would be cool, except that at .4 BAC, death occurs. so someone driving with a 1.0 BAC is basically a pickled mummy.

That system would be good for middle class and up, but for the lower income individuals, it wouldn't be much of a deterrent.

legal in my state is .08. I think anything above that is too much for behind the wheel.

@TE, you are right. I meant 0.10, not 1.0. And 0.06 in the case of the soccer player.

Love this guy but Kevin, next time, stay in your lane!!

No one should be going 100 mph unless they're on a race track, especially under the influence. He's lucky. I do like that he admitted it and isn't saying, it was medication, etc.

Amber, didn't the drunk driver that killed Malik Sealy (basketball player) have, and continues to have, other drunk driving arrests? How does that even happen?

Geebz said...

NO excuse for driving drunk. Should be in JAIL. All of them. Here in town we employ a UPS guy that killed someone while driving under the influence. I'm tired of hearing people say it was a mistake. These mistakes cost lives. I really abhor drunk driving. I hate it. There is no excuse. I can't believe these idiots constantly get away with it.
Sorry. end rant

Nutty - wish they could do that here. Like others said, different justice for the wealthy always. Kevin seems like a stand-up guy. I hope this is his life lesson and it doesn't happen agan.

Why can't people stay home and get drunk like me and the Opster do?

Hey at least he admitted he was drunk and I'll bet he'll get help. He sounds like he's accepting responsibility for his actions unlike La Lohag.

And Montana I can't blame you for wanting the same punishment but we all know he'll probably be treated like a normal non-celebrity and will pay dearly for this crime. I hate that life is unfair but statically we know that is what will happen. And I hate it with every fiber of my being. Here's someone who will get help and never do this again but freaking Lohag keeps getting away with it. Isn't fair.

My grandmother was killed when a drunk driver caused her car to be T-boned. I hate drunk driving and like most people here I don't see any sort of excuse for it. I'm glad he's owning up to it, but he should be in jail. He is so very lucky he didn't kill himself or someone else.

Misdemeanor DUI in Ca means he will get a fine, probation (zero tolerance for the whole time), MADD and AA classes, DUI classes, license suspension. For the first offense.

HD, Thank you !

Celebrity people charged with DUI not new to hear. Most celebrities are freaking out when going to parties. Sad to say they have the most complicated scenarios of DUI rather than the ordinary citizen. If you are charged with DUI contact DUI lawyer in your area to help you on penalties and charges filed against you.
