Chrissy Amphlett Has Died

Chrissy Amphlett, the lead singer of the Australian rock band Divinyls whose hit "I Touch Myself" brought her fame in the early 1990s, died in New York City on Sunday. She was 53. I had the good fortune to meet Chrissy a number of times and she was incredibly kind and grateful that she had the opportunity to do what she wanted to do during her life because of that song.

Apparently she had breast cancer and MS - glad she's at peace now.

Chrissie had so many more songs - and outside the US so many more hits. Please seek them out if you're so inclined.

Sorry if the link doesn't work, but i had to include this review of her 2007 autobiography. She sounds beyond bitch - and for what? Not a major band, but i liked them. Had their CD back in the day.

RIP, her MS prevented her from getting treatment for breast cancer. Thinking of the Cdan readers that have MS.

My cousin died of cancer last week. She was just 47. It was extremely sudden. When I saw her last September she was fine. She was diagnosed just this past December. They gave her 3 months. She lasted 4. Her heart was healthy enough to keep her going.

RIP Chrissy.

JBE..My sincere condolences on your loss.

Chrissy was fierce. We covered some of the Divinyls' songs in the band I sang in (back in the day). And they were much bigger everywhere else but here. Yes she was a hard rocker but that's what made her so fun. She's rock with the angels or, more likely, the devils now.

MS is a scary MonSter. Damn. I think I'm finally OK with it, and then I hear someone else has died because of it.

hope she is getting to happy dance in the heavens along with so many other brilliant performers.

Ah. MSGirl. Sorry to figure out you have it. Hobbit Hubby does too. It IS scary. He worked for a leading MS researcher for five years at UC San Francisco. We figured out a LOT. avoid buterophylin (sp?) which is in all breast milk products-milk/butter/cheese/ice cream. Check out the mitochondrial diet-Dr. Terry Wahl on Ted Talks. Juicing & daily MMJ to reduce inflammation. And taking an anticholesterol drug PLUS coQ10. He was eliminated from participating in any clunical trials after the Tysabri disaster because his excellent health & test results (higher thsn his doctors')

Made the clinical results skew. His boss, INTERNATIONALLY KNOWN LEADING MS RESEARCHER, quit UCSF and went to work at an East Coast university to do pure research, not PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY FUNDED dreck.

Anyone who wants to know what my Hobbit Hubby learned while doing years of medical journal research on the University's dime can email me at purazapartnets@

Aaaggghhh! purazapartners (at) yahoo (dot) com. We do lots of outreach and education to people and families with MS. Everything he does has sound research & documentation to back it up. We totally know how scary MS is-both his mom and mine had/have it. My mom is still aluve & kickin' it. His mom was not so fortunate, but it was early days and no one knew that diet is so key.

Look up the Swank Diet. That was research-SOLID-done in the 1930s. Tragic that the corporations do not make money on simpke cheap nutritional approaches. I guess they like us all sick, scared, and weak.

Love&light to all the chronic illness/pain sufferers (mysrlf included!).
