Blind Item #2 - Grammy Week - Easy Easy

This A+ list female singer who I keep expecting to turn up as a judge on a show was all happy and nice to this female one hit wonder and wished her luck at the awards. Later, our A lister was discussing the one hit wonder and said that she was really nice to her because everyone knows that she will never be back and that she wanted her to enjoy the party.

  1. Carly Rae Jepsen is the one hit wonder. Katy for the A lister?

    2. I heard call me maybe yesterday for the first time in months, and I was just thinking "hmm... I wonder if she'll be a one-hit wonder?" I suppose I should have rolled my eyes at myself for such a stupid question.

    3. Yeah the crazy shit is you would think she's a teen or early twenties with a song like that but she's actually 27.

    4. She also has that song work Owl City that was big during the Olympics.

  2. Pink for the A+ lister?

  4. Definetely Katy and Carly Rae. They were pictured at the same Grammy parties.

  5. I'd go with P!NK and Carly Rae. I don't see Katy Perry having the balls to say some shit like this.

  6. I want to think that Pink isn't a two faced phoney tool, so Katy has my vote.

  7. PINK is in Phoenix working on her tour and won't be at the Grammies. Can't be her.

  8. Thank you Kristin :)

    1. smash, I like that you're doing interpretive karaoke in character. You and my sister would have sooo much fun together! She can't carry a tune in a bucket, but makes up for that with enthusiasm and costuming.

    2. Frufra- I am so glad I am not the only one! :) I can sing when I want but it is so much more fun to do voices. My favorite song right now is "I will survive" classic!

  10. Beyonce for A+-lister and Carly Rae Jepson for one hit wonder never to be heard from again. Katy Perry is just A list not A+

  11. Carly Rae and Katy Perry both attended the Clive Davis Pre-Grammy shindig he throws every year.... just sayin'.

  12. I think the comment is a little bit bitchy but a lotta bit truthful. And what's wrong with wanting Carly Rae to have a great memory of her 15 minutes? I don't think it's so bad, whoever said this.

  13. I thought Katy Perry was going to be a one hit wonder too. Anything can happen with the right song/Album.

Actually, I think it's Miley and she is suffering from professional jealousy.

    1. @timebob, yes! "I Kissed A Girl" had all the elements of a one hit wonder. I was really wrong about her.

  14. bitchy comment but she was actually nice to her so i dont think this is too bad.

  15. @smash, I do it in my best Carol Channing voice!

  16. Silly girl- haha that! Is good.

  17. All in the interpretation. She wasn't necessarily catty w/that comment. Everyone thinks some people are meant to be one hit wonders, and she was just trying to make sure the girl had a good time while she was there.

  18. Not Pink, she tweeted last night that she had been invited to perform but that she is in Arizona working on her tour so she wasn't able. So she's not hitting any pre-parties either.

  19. OT sorta - but Carly Rae Jepsen creeps me the eff out. She dresses like and is made up to look like a teeny-bopper, but when you see pictures of her face close-up she looks like she is 35.

  20. Carly Rae is more talented than her one song shows - at least she can really sing live and doesn't need auto tuner, cough cough Katy Perry, who I am sorry every time I hear her sing live, Randy Jackson saying Pitchy dude comes to mind.

Carly Rae was on Canadian Idol and did not win her season but placed pretty close but is one of the most successful alumni from that show. Jake Hoggard lead singer of Hedley being the most successful. He was voted out 3rd they say because he told his fans not to vote him, he already knew he could get a better record deal than Idol was offering.

  21. IS it actually being mean on the part of the A lister? Seems to me a nice thing to do. Make someone feel good for a little while, knowing that this person will not have the opportunity again.

  22. @Pink Palace...

I agree that the comment isn't necessarily catty. Someone may have said, "why were you talking to her?" who knows? I think it was nice for her to want the girl to have her moment.

I think Carly Rae looks like a young Carly Simon.

Perry is A but not A+ and Enty really ragged on her about being a one hit then one cd singer who would fade away.

Beyonce is on the one Enty keeps saying that Simon wants for XFactor and that comment coming from her could go either way.

Also, the singer doesn't have to be a nominee to be at the awards.

  24. Taken out of context, the statement probably sounds more catty than it was meant to be. Still, I think Katy Perry and Carly Rae Jepsen is probably a good answer. Carly may have a great voice, but the music industry is filled with great voices belonging to obscure names.

P.S. We've ruled out Pink, but I don't think she'd ever say anything to someone else that she wouldn't say to the person's face. She seems pretty honest, and much harder on herself than she is on anyone else.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Whoever it is wasn't trying to be catty in my opinion, I think a lot of people are thinking Carly Rae will be a one hit wonder.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Oh no doubt about it, in the age of auto tuner and backing vocals, talent not required if you got a great producer, great look, great songwriters and good PR team.

And word is Carly got help from the Biebs to get this far.

But anyone who can sing live for real got my respect. When I go to a concert don't be charging me $150 to watch you lip synch. This is why I prefer live concerts with real musicians and live singers. But I am old school that way. And even bands fudge a bit but not on the vocals.

  28. Pink is a champion of the underdog so I don't think she would tell someone another artist 'won't be around long'.

"who I keep expecting to turn up as a judge on a show" - Katy Perry has been on Amer Idol as a judge in the prelims and she's done several stints on X-Factor UK. So she's already BEEN a judge. I think this is someone else, maybe Madonna (although this would be tame for her).

  29. I only think it is catty because the A lister just assumes she will be back at the grammies winning awards in the future. A few bad albums and she could be shunned just like Carly will in the next few years.

It's just a tad arrogant, with a dash of kindness. Like sending your hand me down clothes to your your poor relations while you sit in your hot tub drinking champagne.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Count me as another who thinks the person was attempting a kindness but it didn't really come out the right way.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I also read this as nice instead of bitchy. And Carly Rae sounds like shit the few times I've heard her sing live.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I hope you're right Sherry. The notion of a self appointed pity the poor loser rubbed me the wrong way, mainly because she discussed it as such, if this blind is accurate (and we know many of them aren't, lol).

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yes, I too thought it was kind of sweet of her. I definitely wouldn't hold the comment against her. And it's true, too.

Kind of makes me like Katy - I think it's her too - since we're often hearing about celebrities who have a lot of trouble being as magnanimous.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think Carly Rae looks like a young Carly Simon.

@ Lola - Yes, she kind of does a little bit!

Carly Rae deserves points for writing her own music. She's probably worth millions now instead of being a thousandaire because she co-wrote "Call Me Maybe".

And I hope that she didn't have to sleep with Bieber. *shudder*

  35. There's this new theory out there that with the pace of our 24/7 infotainment cycles today, a person basically is going to be pegged a 1-hit wonder if he/she can't turn out another mega-hit within a six-month period. Even if that person later has a big hit, the time lag is to large these days -- it'll always be that one first hit they'll be remembered for, and that Carly Rae is already in this cateory. I saw this theory referred to on Gawker, and I know they were citing someone else, some music or entertainment authority, I just can't remember who.

  36. This is two faced Katy. She did the same to Taylor Swift until her fame surpassed Katy's. Then she started dating Taylor's ex.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Meh I don't think that comment was mean at all, honest yes, but mean no. She wants Carly to live it up while she can!

Katy Perry being a horrible singer. She doesn't have a bad voice, but IMO she doesn't have a strong enough voice to have the career that she has.

    ReplyDelete
  38. But doesnt Carly watever have other hit song. I heard one the other day

    ReplyDelete
  39. I took it as whoever was trying to be nice. And let's face it, who wouldn't call Carly Rae a 1 hit wonder, if this is her.

    ReplyDelete
  40. If Carly ain't too picky, she can have a great career here in Canada. She lucked out with Call Me Maybe and chances of her having another hit with the same impact are slim. So yeah, American artists would consider her a one hit wonder.

As to who said this, I'll go with Beyonce, and like others said, I don't read it as catty. Just being nice to someone.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Carly Rae for sure for the one hit wonder. She has another song out right now called "This kiss" which is not very catchy. I don't see it being a big hit.

I didn't read this blind as bitchy particularly, although if the A+ singer is Katy Perry, well, I only wish she'd been a one hit wonder too. Her "I'm sexy and childlike at the same time" act is disgusting.

    ReplyDelete
  42. how about kelly clarkson. i just read an article about her, and she was quoted as sqaying that thwe award shows aren't fun because everyone is so closed off and mean. usually she has to be forced to go. she said country award shows are much better, because thw people are friendly and fun.

  45. I'm not sure Bey speaks to anyone she doesn't have to or could use. I thought Taylor swift for the A+. It is a nice thing to do.....but not a nice thing to say.

  46. I'm going to say this is Rhianna, didn't Simon want Riri and Chris Brown as X Factor judges? Rhianna and Carly Rae Jepsen

    ReplyDelete
  47. Well that was nice of the A+ list singer. She's also probably right...and the one hit wonder might be Carly Rae.
