Good on you Bobbie! I'm also trying to break some similar habits. I learned the hard way taking care of oneself is paramount. My MIL is ill and she lives with us. Well I wore myself down so much taking care of her and not me that I ended up with bronchitis, pneumonia, severe sinusitis and a viral infection. On the mend but I should never let it go on the first place
Yeah, I promised myself I would journal daily and do my creative writing daily. Hasn't happened yet.
I saw a message in a fortune cookie on my birthday (the 31st) that said "DON'T PUT LIMITS ON YOURSELF". That seemed like a good resolution so I went with that. The first day I drank a 6 pack of Bass Ale. The second day I ate a whole box of chocolate covered cherries. The third day I watched crappy movies all day and ate popcorn. The fourth day I cooked a whole pound of bacon. So far I think I'm doing great….however there is a chance I misinturpreted the inspirational message.

Nope! I will hula hoop daily for at least 20 min. & 13 seconds. Even though I have to split it up thanks to my crazy schedule, I haven't failed yet. And interestingly enough, as someone who hates morning exercise because it always left me tired before, the 5-10 minutes of hooping in the morning has given me way more energy throughout the day and keeps my mood elevated as well. Whoop!
I tried to be more patient with idiot drivers and curb my swearing some. Then I made the commute thru Atlanta traffic on the 2nd and broke both resolutions, in grand fashion.
I didn't bother to make one.

I don't think of them as resolutions, I've just been writing down things I want to do (WILL DO) in 2013. One of the first things is "Complete Turbo Fire". I'm only on week 1 of the prep rotation so ask me again in 9 weeks, and then again 9 weeks after that!
I will be great to go over my lists at the end of the year though, and see how many things I actually did 🙂

Nope because mine are about the progress and achieving and meeting the goal at the end of the year. That way if I have a slip up I won't just give up and ruin all the work I did before that.
I do hope you can follow through. All that sounds stressful! When I was younger, my granny bought herself a "No" ring and she said it gave her the strength to tell those who took advantage of her the ability to say no without the guilt.

@jsierra: thanks for the compilation of reader photos! I just looked through mine! I didn't send one to Enty this time but I sent one to J and she included it.
My resolutions: to be the best mother I possibly can (due in March with my first child) and to be a better wife. though the second resolution is might be tricky to measure. I'm trying be open to my husband's ideas and be more supportive to him. I don't think I've rolled my eyes yet, so far so good. 😉
To get all the frickin cords off the floor, to finish the laundry room ; to get caught up on My Little Pony episodes (one of my kids is a Brony) ; to start another line in our online business (just after Christmas is a very slow time for us) ; to keep some small diversions like CDAN for myself

No. I picked the three things I felt I failed at last year and am making them my priority this year, so as long as I'm trying I'm not failing.
Karen, I wish I could add the photo. I mean, there are times that $49/week could be a lot as you build up in the month, but even if you cap it to $20/week and stop after Thanksgiving, you've got a grand to spend on Christmas or a vacation or heck, put into a savings account for interest! 🙂
I'm sure I EASILY blow $20 in a week. heck that could be in a day (hence not drinking during the week) 😉

Did not make any this year so no let downs for me!
I didn't really make one, but I did see something interesting on FB yesterday. Save $1 week 1, $2 week 2, etc. and you have more than 1k in a year if you do it for all 52 weeks. I told my friend, even if you use it to buy holiday gifts, you've been saving all year to do it and it doesn't have to come out of another budget.
So I'm doing to do this. And after this week, I think I'm going to give up drinking during the week and at work functions/events/in general…

I'm good so far, I guess. My resolution was to start a diet and lose 10-15lbs. Basically, I'm eating healthy meals without ANY snacking and I've been good for almost 4 whole days!
It's hard, though, because I'm counting calories and every time I start doing that, I want to "win" by having as few as possible and then the eating disorder creeps in. My fiance is on top of things to make sure I don't go overboard, though.

Nope! Mine was to drink more and have more fun, which I've been doing, but I think it's giving me a cold. Lots of ginger tea and a nice disco nap before I can go out tonight!

mine was to quit swearing so much, and yeah I broke that.But I also wanted to cut back on smoking, which I've done very very well. But only because my stash ran out.
