Snooki & Anna Faris Give Birth
Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi gave birth to a baby boy this morning that she and her boyfriend named Lorenzo Dominic LaValle. The baby weighed in at 6 lbs, 5 oz. I have to say, I really thought the baby would be bigger even though Snooki is such a tiny person.
Meanwhile, Anna Faris gave birth yesterday to a baby boy that came really early and will be spending some time in the NICU before being allowed to go home. Anna announced she was pregnant in May. If you think that was the 12 week point, then this baby was really early. Hopefully, everything will be ok.

Thank you guys! It really is a great day for a birthday. I was thrown a surprise party yesterday and had THE BEST TIME, ever! They really got me, too - I thought I was going to Costco and out to lunch but it was a cool all-day thing. Oh, that makes me sound boring :)

I'm so boring that I'd take a trip to Costco AS my birthday party - any change of pace is great for me. Although I guess we're a lot alike because you thought that Costco was your birthday excitement, eh :-)?
I'm worried for Anna and Chris's little one. NICU is a hard place to deal with - not what you have in mind when you have a baby, that's for sure. But, the docs and nurses there are some of the best around. They are true miracle-workers.
At any rate, all babies are a blessing :-) - yay babies!

I've liked Anna Faris and thought she was very talented ever since she played the surrogate mother for Monica and Chandler on Friends. Hope she gets to bring home her baby soon.

@dj - I don't know about CLS's. Care to give a synopsis of what they do? Are they social workers, so to speak? My youngest spent four weeks in NICU, but never met a CLS (that I know of).

@frufra It's a fairly new thing, as far as I know, but they're always training more at her hospital and sending them out to other ones to set up Child Life departments.
This obviously isn't an exact job description but...
In the NICU, her job is to make sure all the babies are held throughout the day, manage the volunteers, make scrapbooks for the parents/take pictures, try to meet parents' needs, explain to siblings what is going on, etc. For older kids, the position has a lot more explaining procedures, sitting through procedures with the kids, that sort of thing.
You know, "Can you make a banner with Spiderman for Jayden's room?" and "The people next door got a fancy blanket!!" to more serious stuff.

@dj - well, that sounds incredible - what a rewarding ( and difficult too, I'm sure) profession.
We were very very well-taken care of, too, but those tasks fell to several different staff members. Thanks for the knowledge, dj :-).
