Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes

Let me ask you this. You know a married couple. They both work a lot, but he works more than she does. Her schedule is flexible because she has a harder time getting work. The husband gets a huge award. Something that has only been given out four times ever and is planned months and months in advance and his wife can't make it because she is out of the country for work. Something that happened after he found out about the award and nothing that is career changing. It is not really even in her career field.

The couple is rarely, if ever spotted together. Think about that now. Go back in your mind to a regular married couple you know. They are always together and then suddenly you never see them together. You see plenty of him and plenty of her and they are in the same city but you never see them together. What would you be thinking?

Now, what if you saw them and each time you saw them individually sometimes they had their child and sometimes they didn't? The one thing that was consistent is they were never together at the same time.

What if this same couple had a staff who did all their grocery shopping and cooking. Then one day you are going through your grocery store and there is the wife doing grocery shopping for the first time you can ever remember seeing her in a grocery store since the couple was married.

All of these things apply to Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise. Have they been spotted together? Sure, they have, but not often and usually it seems its only for a brief meal, maybe a quick photo op and a changeover of the child. I think we are headed for a divorce.

Think they're headed for a divorce??? Really? Their contract expired, that's what happened. Rumor has it they've been separated for months.

Patty said...

But are they staying together, in the same hotel, in the same room? That would be the most tell-tale sign.

I do agree. They are not as inseperable as they once were. She was always spotted at his film locations. Guess this didn't turn out to the be career-changing move she thought. Well, it was changing, just in the wrong direction.

But what if Suri tells them they can't get divorced? What then?

cheesegrater15 said...

Cathy, it'll be a paradox and the very fabric of time and space will unravel.

JoElla said...

And she has been looking really cute and happy lately........

StewMcG said...

If their contract is up... oops, I mean, if they're heading for divorce, Katie needs to grab Suri and RUN! She needs to take a serious look at how Tom & Nicole's divorce turned out regarding the kids. Granted, Katie appears to be a MUCH more involved mom than Nicole but I have a bad feeling Co$ will step in and she'll never see Suri again.

G said...

Gee how time flies when you're pretending to be in lurve.

@ Patty that was funny same room? Other than those scenes in Risky Business and All The Right Moves I don't think Katie has seen Tom undressed.

The stories she probably could tell, but probably won't be able to tell because of her contract.

Yep, Katie's not gonna get near that kid if they split.

Someone a long time ago noted how Tom Cruise's wives were getting younger, all 11 years apart in age. Mimi Rogers is 56, Nicole Kidman is 45, and Katie Holmes will be 34 in December.

I forgot who the person nominated as the next wife, but it would be someone born in 1989. I nominate Hayden Panettiere, Lily Collins, or even Taylor Swift. I hope it's Swift, because I'd love to hear her write a song about that relationship!

Patty said...

Suri's Burn Book is the best. And there is an acutal book coming out this year. Can't wait.

@G, I would have to believe they shared a bed once upon a time because their marriage was so AMAZING at the beginning. And on that Oprah interview in their Colorado home a few years back, they couldn't stop saying how much they loved each other. None of that would be faked, would it???

I thought a divorce was a given. What I'm curious to see is if he goes on the offensive the way he did Nicole. One minute all was well and the next it was "She knows what she did". He treated her so badly and Nicole handled it with such class that even though she gets her share of dissing here, I give her credit for that. Nicole was super young when she married Tom.

As for Katie, she had to have gone into it with eyes wide open and no illusions. The world had already seen what happened to Nicole and if Katie didn't get it, her father had to have set her straight. Her father being an attorney making me think Katie will be fine, that he made sure she was protected before Tom jumped the couch.

When they're in New York at the same time I know Tom owns a few apartment in that building on 13th Street...more than a floor I believe. So in truth they can both be there but not see each other.
About the Friar's honor they wanted to roast him he refused (not surprising due to his thin skin) Friar's is a not for profit organization and they do a lot of really good work, the "Honor" Tom got brought in a ton of money. The Tickets for tables went big bucks....so it all went for a good cause in the end.
I still can't stand Tommy Boy.

angie said...

Good grief. Off topic I know, but she has GOT to stop carrying Suri.

If so, I hope Katie's able to get herself and her daughter away from the cultists. They're a potentially dangerous bunch of nut-jobs.

Hendrix said...

It's a little early, isn't it? Is the ten year contract up? Or maybe this one was shorter?

aimee said...

It's so great!

Trey said...

Is it possible for Katie to have a career after they divorce? I assume she'll want to leave the cult of scientology, but is that even possible when she has a child in it?

I am looking forward to seeing what happens next.

AuntJess said...

@Cathy lololol

I hope she gets a ton of money cause this marriage has done nothing for her career.

angie said...

@Hendrix, I don't recall the particulars, but years ago when I read the supposed terms of their contract, it was set up on a graduated basis - and I think 5 years was just the first baseline they had to reach for Katy to walk away with a substantial sum. Having a child also upped her financial anty considerably. So if that's the case, she'd be in good financial shape even if she walked away now, but the longer the relationship lasts, the more she gets. Of course the whole Scientology thing with regard to her access to Suri should she leave before Tom is ready for her to is just too iffy and complex for an outsider to speculate on.

discoflux said...

I don't feel like looking it up but Nicole and Tom's children are both adopted, correct? Wouldn't Katie have to be granted more parental rights as Suri's natural mother?

RenoBlondee said...

Agree, Katie knew exactly what she was getting into so that makes her kind of disgusting to me.

MISCH said...

Duh, Tom is not the biological daddy all Katie has to do is insist on a DNA test...she keeps the little monster,

timebob said...

this won't sit well in Suri's burn book.

I think Katie knew what she was doing when she hitched her wagon to his star. She looks so Stockholm Syndromed out at this point. She wouldn't even know how to leave him. If anything I think he will try to get her pregnant again so people think he is a young dad and not 50.

Cathy said...

@MISCH - but don't you think that telling the world that Tom isn't the bio daddy would reflect more poorly on her than on him? He could feign ignorance and come off as the victim in all this. Sure, she'd get custody, but she'd also blacklist herself from ever working again.

angie said...

re: a DNA test if Tom isn't Suri's bio father.. Tom is known for his iron clad legal documenting, so I'm sure that aspect is covered. If she blows his cover, she'd probably forfeit a lot, if not everything.

it just disgusts me that she kept chris klein from his daughter all these years!! no wonder he needed rehab

Agent**It said...

This will be a very silent divorce and very civil. Everybody will get a deal. Sigh.

Topper Madison said...

I guess I'm the only one who doesn't think there's a conspiracy here? I think they both got married for reasons other than true love, but I don't think it's been scripted since day one. No one has that much control over life.

And wouldn't she only have issues with seeing her child if she left Scientology?

Then again, what do I know? I'm pretty happily naive and I plan to stay that way. lalalaaaaa....

Hendrix said...

@angel, thanks for that. Getting out of Scientology will be the tricky part, no doubt. If she leaves, she'll be designated an "SP" (Suppressive Person) and the whole legal might of the "religion" and the Tom Cruise machine will get to work on keeping her away from her child. Those folks are a bad group to fall into, even worse to piss off.

Agent**It said...

She won't leave Scientology. That will be part of the deal.

Keeping Nicole Kidman in Scientology was not somthing that happened so I don't know that Katie would stay with it either. A contract is a contract and nobody but them knows what it said. are they together? I don't believe so. I think they have some obligations once a month or something like that to do photo ops, but it is clear that they are no longer together. I don't think either his family or her family is clueless to the arrangement so the only one they are protecting is Suri.
Who knows - with that attitude maybe a divorce is not in the cards, but i don't think they will ever have a realtionship again. the guy is nuts.

Agent**It said...

@jg610, Nicole lost her children, that's too high of a price to pay.

NomNom83 said...

I really, really, REALLY want to see this contract. Not b/c I doubt it's existence, but as someone who deals in (boring) contracts, I think the Ts&Cs on this would be FASCINATING. The non-disclosure alone! I... I... I just *sigh* I'll bet it's the most perfectly iron-clad document ever written. Well, since he divorced Kidman, anyway.

I thought Anne Archer's son, Tommy Davis (guy who runs Scientology) was Suri's dad, not Chris Klein.

now just hold suri underwater for about six minutes after the divorce and we are getting somewhere.

I just want to say that one can engage in Scientologist practices and tend some Scientologist events without being a self-identifying Scientologist.

I do not believe Katie is actually a Scientologist at heart and Nicole never was either. Katie has also never said she was.

NK said...

People have speculated that William Mapother is the real father of Suri. Also BG has a blind today about "mr and mrs vip" which is clearly about tom and katie.

Not A Ninny said...

I would guess that those clues indicate that Tom and Katie have agreed to a quiet but permanent separation and that they won't actually divorce until after the end of the marriage contract. Might not be for a full ten years but likely has a couple more years to run, and if you're Katie do you risk the wrath of COS by trying to break it early or do you endure a couple more years of the sham and then walk away clean? Seems clear, from how much time Suri spends with Katie, that she's not letting her daughter be turned into a COS-bot.

"I just want to say that one can engage in Scientologist practices and tend some Scientologist events without being a self-identifying Scientologist."

Really Hunter? I am very surprised to here this as my first hand experiences with Scientology have led me to believe that you are either with them or against them.

I went to a informative meeting for a class project in Miami. I brought my boyfriend with me and was very upfront about my reason for attending - I just wanted to learn more about what they do. The assholes separated me from my boyfriend (and all the other couples). In our one on one sessions, they lied to him, lied to me at least a dozen times, and did an AMAZING Jedi mind trick on me where I was sobbing uncontrollably. The only way I got out of there without signing up was that my boyfriend ran around the place, evaded security and grabbed me when he found me. They refused to let me go on my own accord. From first hand experience, THEY ARE A CULT - NO DOUBT!

@janele - Don't wish that on poor Taylor Swift.

My bet? Julianna Hough. She seems like the type and I'm pretty sure she's an 89 baby. Plus they can say that love sparked in Rock of Ages.

@MrWolf - I can totally see those two "hooking up" and trying to do some sort of a parallel Brad and Angelina romance. "I couldn't wait to get to work to see him" and all of that.

Dear jeebus, my other half and I rarely go to events together and one of us is always with the mini-me. We have a far more functional relationship than couples we know that go everywhere and do everything together. It doesn't spell disaster.

Personally I dont think theyve been together since 09 when she moved to NYC without him to do My Three Sons.
The fact that they haven't rushed to stage a happy family photo op tells me that the wheels on the "mutually agreed to separate but remain the best of friends" have been in the works for months and are waiting for the release of his next movie. This last one was too much of a bomb to waste a good divorce story on.

Topper Madison, katie's dad is an attorney, and he held out for things on her side of the contract-he did NOT want her to marry tom cruise. i don't think that was a secret.

Not A Ninny said...

Not in California. Two years after the birth, the husband becomes the legal father permanently. This has been tested in divorce cases and been upheld.

He just said in an interview that he didn't want any more children, but then gushed about Katie as well:

Her mood is instantly recognizable in her clothes. The other day she went braless in a loose hippie dress and skirt with no makeup and smiling hugely. Theres got to be an agreement in place and an end date for her to be so thrilled and carefree. Good for you girl dont turn out like nicole. Sorry nicole. No idea whats up with her.
