Russell Brand Has Now Stolen Bikes
Last week Russell Brand was charged with a felony after throwing an iPhone that did not belong to him through the window of a law firm. Not charmed with his charm, both parties pressed charges and Russell is in serious danger of being convicted and sent back to England. He did not make things any better by renting some bikes and then not ever bothering to return them. Umm, that is stealing. If the owner of the bike shop decides to press charges that would be another nail in the deport Russell coffin. Is anyone else thinking drugs at this point? Russell has become a one man crime spree. Yes, the crimes are juvenile in nature but so is doing drugs. The whole anger thing is not what he is usually about so wondering if he is back on the drugs.

i was doing drug's with russel brand, robert downey jr,madonna,sean penn, and dion warwick one night. all of us were high as fuq. then, we decided to order pizza. and, instead these hooker's show up. so, robert and madonna start fighting over who is going with what hooker. all of them looked the same to me. i was just like,"i want some pizza." my name is jonah hill.
Russell is not only roaming around by foot hurling objects - now he is cycling around my city on stolen bikes. Possibly on drugs.
Jesus, to think I was out on the street for hours at the St. Patrick's Day parade. Little did I know that I could suffer peril at the hands of this lunatic.

What is going on with Russell? I know he is a rake and all, but I guess all signs are pointing to a relapse. Sad. I don't love the guy, but he seems to be a nice enough fellow.

I love Russell, but it appears that a lot of my fellow Americans don't. I find him brilliant and witty. I hope he's not gone back to some of his former addictions. IMO, Katy just isn'tt worth it.

Enty, I agree. I think Russell may have fallen off the wagon and landed in some sad gutter. He's SO smart, and he comes across as fairly charming and likable (to me, at least), and this behavior seems kinda...new.
I honestly think the Katy split is affecting him more than he's letting on.

I liked the *before* Russell. Saw him on many talk shows and found him very funny, a little weird, but in a charming naughty boy way.
That wee troll can wind it's neck in (as we say in Ireland). Not all people from Belfast are like that...moving on...I love Russell Brand more than not and I'm sad he's ended up like this - I always thought he was more into her than vice versa.
I think he lost his cool with the paps. Paps scream like wild banshess at him ala Vicki and Tamara and it gets old.
The bike thing? Don't know but they keep a credit card number so they charge it for ten times more than the bike is worth and it's done.

As someone said, he must have given a credit card to rent the bike, so what's the deal? The bike shop can get their money back.
I think he just decided to blow it off and didn't return the bike. That doesn't necessarily mean he fell off the wagon. Sounds more like diva behavior to me.

As far as Russell Brand, I hope he's not back on drugs. It seems like he took his sobriety really seriously and I hate to see someone fall off the wagon.
Yes, the added publicity was bound to attract the weirdos sooner or later. NO one feed the trolls. Why don't the realize how stupid and annoying they are. And they don't have the balls to fess up to their real identity. In real life they prolly do something normal but something is off mentally to make them behave like lunatics. I am wondering what is going on with Russell, too. I like him and I hope that he is going to be okay. Deportation would be so embarrassing... I hope that he was just having a few bad days and that's all.

Keep it classy, cdan. This is the only site where I religiously read the comments, because they are on the whole funny, well-written, and only snarky in the nicest way.

Even if he did give a credit card to the shop owner, it's still a pain in the ass to have to deal with that.
I have mixed feelings about Brand. I find him funny and seems pretty genuine but The pants and the hair turn me waaaay off. That being said, I would be sad to see him fall off the wagon. I hope the erratic behavior isn't drugs.
I really don't see how tossing a phone is a sign he's on drugs. I am sure the paps have amped up the harrassment since the Katy split, and who knows what BS mud they were slinging. That's got to be really hard day after day after day, months and months on end. As far as not returning bikes spot on - who hasn't handed in a video late, when Blockbuster was the go to? Bikes are the same - they have a credit card, they charge you - it's part of the deal. Maybe he didn't turn in the bikes on time, because he was hauled off the police station over a ridiculous charge of tossing a stupid cell phone of someone harrassing and needling him. He paid for the window asap, he was cordial and respectful at the station by all accounts. I don't see any of this as erratic drug behavior. Nor do I see it as fodder for unnecessary rumor ignition. For Godsake, Chris Brown through a CHAIR through a second story window and trashed a newsroom, and NOTHING happened to him! Cameron and Justin smashed cameras, so has Sean Penn and countless others. Paps go so far over the line sometimes and the things they say are beyond horrible, because they WANT a reaction. Russell behaved like a human being, not necessary a drug addict.

Uh, I once rented a peddle-boat in Amsterdam and after aimlessly riding through the canals I got hopelessly lost. Ended up tying the boatie and forfeiting my deposit....and let the stoner jokes begin.
Update from my friend...
She was waiting for a light on Tchoupitoulas St and saw this giant man failing his arms half riding half walking a bike while talking on his cell phone. "That looks like Russell Brand, OMG that IS Russell Brand!" He was dressed in tight stretchy pants with lots of scarves and he had a small hoard following along, as well as an attractive brunette. NoLa brings out the crazy. It's just another day in the FQ. I'm sure nolachickee has some good stories.

Yeah, on this whole 'troll' problem we seem to be having...I just don't get it. Where are they coming from? Maybe they will kindly hop back under their bridges and study up on grammar and spelling.
Been through this whole troll thing about 10 years ago on a fairly famous site, just ignore them and they'll die down. Of course, if the writing is as awful as has been exhibited so far, feel free to point and snicker and then ignore! =)
He is not back on the drugs, remembering what he was like when he was on them before (just read his biog for a reminder) he'd be naked on that bike and saying more ridiculous things than just his throwing the iPhone was a tribute to Steve Jobs. I'd hazard a guess he's annoyed that he seems to be painted as the bad guy in the divorce (Katy should have known not to spend less than 30days in their whole marriage with him, he needs constant reassurance and entertaining) - and he was too lazy to return the bike so he thought it would be amusing to steal it. He's just a big kid. Give him a break.
Probably from ONTD, Gawker, Tumbler, although I only visit the first two and it's been quite a while. I don't think it matters, their noise is just white noise to me. It's they're time to waste by typing and I just scroll by.

I am fairly new to CDAN - been reading it for about a yr & post only occasionally but I love gossip & this is now the only site I go to. I started coming here because of the Enty posts/BI but stayed bc the commentators are witty, intelligent & most def un-troll like...I agree the added attention was bound to bring out the looky loos & when they realize they r in the minority & BI are only a small part of the site I think they will get bored and leave. @Frufra not corny at all, I feel the same way :)
Now about Russell, I don't think he's on drugs either, I think added papz attention is the reason for the cell phone & as someone above said he was half riding/walking the bike being followed by a horde of people. It prolly got old & was like f* it, they'll get returned later or I'll pay for them...he is rich enough that it prolly never occurred to him that they would think he was stealing them if they didn't get returned at the right time

i don't know why they are hounding him again. i didn't like him at first, but then he kind of grew on me.
