Maria Bello Has Been On One Date

Maria Bello told Life & Style that just this past year she went on her very first date. I find this very hard to believe. She never dated as a teen? She has a child with one guy and almost got married to another but never has been on a date? So, she just met them and then was with them? Never went to dinner? What does she consider a date? She does say that her most recent date was a blind date and that it was awful. Maria also said that she never believed in monogamy until her most recent relationship.

What is the deal with her show Prime Suspect? I liked the show, but NBC kept moving it around. Is it returning? Sorry I know this is slightly off topic...

I think know what she means. I've been on very few "dates" myself. Met my partners at places where I saw them all the time, did lots of group activities, etc. When you already know someone well and you meet up for dinner or a movie, I don't consider that a date, myself.

@jmid, I think it was canceled.

Exactly, you usually meet people through your friends, and then you're all hanging out together.

Maybe she meant her very first blind date since she also says that it didn't go well?

Dating is way too formal and filled with unmet expectations to be fun. You also don't get to know people very well that way.

Most of my guys in my younger years (after my first failed engagement, really) were friends-plus-benefits. Once they turned into romantic interests, the relationship fizzled. Most of the activities I did with these guys involved group events, or just hanging out. There wasn't a formal dinner-and-a-movie kind of thing with any of these guys.

With my husband, we didn't go on a date until after we were living together. We had been in a long-distance relationship. Once he came to visit, he decided to stay.

I get what she's saying.

A lot of people don't go on dates in the traditional sense anymore and a lot of people don't use the term "dating."

I have some friends who when you asked their status, they always said they were "hanging out." They were "hanging out" until they moved in together.

I believe her show didn't make the ratings so it's being cancelled. I didn't care for the show.

I guess I am old. I know that I am definitely old-fashioned, but I think if you are "hanging out" at a restaurant together, or at a movie/play/event together that is a "date".

I liked Prime Suspect as well. I'm constantly amazed that a show like that is cancelled to make room for dreck like Grimm rolls right along.
Oh well, go figure.

I totally get what she's saying! All my boyfriends came from work or school. We never actually dated until we were together as a couple. I never got romantic about a guy who asked me out on a "date." There was just too much pressure to make it romance.
