DB Cooper Case Solved
After 40 years, the FBI says it has finally solved the DB Cooper case and considers it closed. I think they are just saying that because it is the 40th anniversary and they thought it would look really nice for the press. I say this because the evidence is really flimsy. This is basically the same story I wrote about earlier in the year, but with a few more details. When a woman was 8 years old, her uncle came to visit for Thanksgiving which was the day after the skydive and the uncle was badly injured. He said it was because of a car accident. Her parents believed he was the famous criminal who stole $200K and jumped out of a plane. She said the guilt burned away at her for 40 years. Why? It is not like she was living on the money. He didn't tell her he was the guy. She never saw him again after that day but was told by her parents that he died in 1999. The woman, Marla Copper said she gave an identification and a guitar strap to the FBI so they could test it for fingerprints. Good luck with that. (Thanks Gladys)

What's so funny is...$200k? He jumped out of a plane for $200,000?
@figgy - 40 years ago, $200K was like 10 million! New cars were $1800.
But to put it into perspective, I would jump out of a plane today for $200K. After proper parachute training.
I take this with a grain of salt, because if you read the actual news story, the FBI aren't confirming ANYTHING - this woman is the one that claims the case is "solved" - which I think has a lot to do with her wanting the notoriety.
She needs to have a seat and just shut up.
haha, good point @Rita. I'm just reminded of my favorite teacher in high school who, among his many bon mots, loved to say "never commit a crime for less than $1 million" (those were 1980 dollars :-) ).
Also reminds me of how SURE I was that my uncle was The Unibomber. That was before Ted Kaszyinski was caught, but my uncle did indeed fit all the clues, yipes.
I don't want this case to ever be solved. It is much more mysterious and intriguing that way. See the Unabomber -- it has never been as interesting since Ted k was arrested for it. Larger than life crimes should remain so.

Agree that this woman is just trying to get her 15 minutes. Some of ransom money was found by a young boy along a river bank, and none of the other bills were ever recovered (per the serial numbers which were recorded). So this gal wants us to believe that her "uncle" went to all that trouble and never spent one penny of it? And the guy died in 1999, yet she waited 12 years to announce this? I can't believe the FBI is saying the case is closed just because some gal says she "thinks" she knows who the hijacker is. And Marla Cooper (incorrectly spelled by Enty as "Copper") has to be nuts because the guy didn't have the last name of Cooper to begin with. It's been reported since the incident that he bought the plane ticket under the alias of Dan Cooper.

In this video the journalist says specifically that FBI said the case is not closed.

The FBI won't comment until the case IS closed.
Shit, I would pay to jump out of a plane, let alone someone pay me. I have always wanted to skydive, but it's just too expensive.
