Who Makes Up These Awards?

Last night, some group called the Accessories Council had what they term their ACE Awards. Hey isn't that a cable award? Do they still give those out? Remember when those were kind of a big deal. And when I say a big deal, I mean on par with People's Choice Awards. I always laughed when I saw someone say they had four ACE Awards. Whoo hoo. Now go back to community television where you belong. Anyway, this organization presented their style influencer of the year award to Nicole Richie. Really? First of all, I am not even sure influencer is a word. It sounds like one of those words I make up for the site liked used upness. Second, I think they gave Nicole the award so they would have someone show up and maybe they would get their organization highlighted on her NBC show. Yes Nicole has a couple of fashion lines. Do you own anything from them? Has she changed your style more than anyone this year? This award is all about accessories. I think they should have given the award to the genius who came up with the idea that women would be willing to pay $100 to get some feathers stuck in their hair. Oh, and they should give the lifetime achievement award to Lance Armstrong for that bracelet idea of his. Genius. Oh, Marc Jacobs for convincing women of the world they need one of his $50 iPad covers that cost under $1 to make. Lindsay Lohan for bringing back handcuffs. Angelina Jolie for making adopted kids a must have.

This could be a really fun show if it wasn't so lame. They should have stuff like this:

Who wouldn't watch that!?!?!?

It's just another reason to kiss famous rich people's asses. I like Nicole, and her style, but there is no way in hell she deserves an award.

they canceled the cable ACE award becuase HBO won most of the awards every year.

I agree with the sewing chicken feathers in the hair. I never understood that trend at all.

Ha, this post is essentially making fun of me. I've been drooling over one of Nicole Richie's leopard print box clutches for the past month, but we'll see how much money I have in my funds. It's a hell of a lot cuter than the one Janie Bryant made for the Mad Men line at Banana Republic and a lot more affordable than the Alexander McQueen one.

Also, I have a couple feathers in my hair, but it didn't cost anywhere near $100. A silly trend, I know, but I got natural looking ones, so they're hardly noticeable. Unlike Ke$ha's. Barf. I saw it as a way to get highlights without needing to keep dying my hair over and over and over again.

I've never said this before regarding Enty but WHOA.

This post read like a babbling, barely coherent run on sentence ala Ted Casablanca.

Editing is your friend dude. Get that bacon outta your mouth and add a comma every once in awhile, whydontcha?!

:))

btw- Once my clueless aunt gave me Britney Spear's perfume for Hanukkah/Christmas (I'm a half and half-y) and I used it ONCE- it smelled like something past its expiration date- like sour yogurt- combined with a sugary overload like left over stale Halloween candy- and it made me gag. I learned my lesson that these celebs who masquerade as perfume and clothing designers are in it for the buck and rarely display the talent for good stuff.

I hate that feathers-in-hair trend, but mostly because I recently saw a doc on how they're "obtained" from birds. Suffice to say: not nicely.

i wouldn't know a NR accessory if it slapped me upside the head--and trust, i know me my accessories. nothing about her style has influenced me or anyone i know.

next yr this 'award' will surely be given to the kardashians...you know, for their influence w/ their sears line and all. /:|

I work in the accessories industry and the Accessories Council honors celebrities as "icon of the year" to sell more tickets & raise more $$ for the council. Jessica Simpson, J. Lo, P Diddy have all been honored.

The council is made of up a group of the most successful/influential accessory companies in NY, but unfortunately you have to do what you have to do to sell tickets.

Guarranteed next year if the Kardashians are still relevant, they'll want to honor them. (Drives me crazy because the "real" fashion designers that work soo hard and have real talent never get recognized!!)

I'm with parissucksliterally, once again.

I don't own a single thing from her line mostly because I cannot afford to shop at the places they are sold.

I like to frequent Etsy and my lovely LOCAL artists for accessories. ;)

Why is Jasmine picking on Enty? She should be on Commentor's Rehab.

Back when I worked accessories at Bloomies, we used to make fun of her "line", and most often, it was the crap that got sent away. I remember this one atrocious head piece that we would all kinda wear for fun.
